Exim code renewal can now be done online

The customs department has implemented an automatic export-import code number system. At the same time, traders can renew the ExIm Code (Export-Import Signal Number) online.
While renewing the export-import code number through this system, which has been brought into operation by the department from Tuesday, a certificate of tax payment and a bank guarantee of Rs Three Lakhs.
While renewing in this way, the renewal fees should also be paid. In the system used till now, one has to be physically present at the customs department or customs office to submit the renewal fee, bank guarantee, and tax payment certificate.
Suman Dahal, director-general of the department, said that the department has made it possible to do all the work from home through a digital medium. It is mentioned that the login user ID and password will be provided to the service recipient to apply for it.
Customers will be able to fill in their details online for renewal by clicking on the Export-Import Portal at the Customs Department's website. The required fee for this can be paid through Connect IPS.
According to the department, the bank guarantee can also be submitted online by the service recipient. It is expected to save time for the service recipients as well as bring transparency in the service and speed up the work.
