iPhone 13's battery is reportedly bigger than those in iPhone 12's

3rd June 2021
"The iPhone 13 series will be superior to the iPhone 12 series, and to reiterate, we have multiple rumors pointing to one or more of the forthcoming iPhone models"

The iPhone 13 series will be superior to the iPhone 12 series, and to reiterate, we have multiple rumors pointing to one or more of the forthcoming iPhone models.

The entire 2021 iPhone line-up will have larger batteries than the ones found in the iPhone 12 series, according to a recent report from China. Now, the battery capacity increases are kind of required, at least for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, because they are quite likely Apple arrive with 120Hz ProMotion OLED screens, and those kinds of displays will consume more power.

A user on China's Weibo shared what appears to be a specs sheet for this year's iPhone models.

The iPhone 13 small will have a 2406mAh battery, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will have a 3095mAh battery, and the highest-end iPhone 13 Pro Max will have a 4352mAh battery, according to Apple. These are considerable improvements over the iPhone 12 series from last year. The iPhone 12 small has a 2227mAh battery, while the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro have 2815mAh batteries and the iPhone 12 Pro Max has 3687mAh.

The iPhone 13 Pro Max has the largest battery capacity increase, at roughly 18% more than the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 will feature an almost 10% increase in battery capacity over its predecessors, while the iPhone 13 mini will have the smallest increase, at only 8%. That makes sense because the iPhone 13 small and iPhone 13 are unlikely to have high display refresh rates, which is one of the reasons phones require larger batteries to provide backup.

Previously, a report stated that the battery capacity of the iPhone 13 series would be increased, but this time we have figures to back up that claim. This time, Apple is rumored to be making some significant hardware enhancements, and the battery could be one of them.

Aside from the battery, Apple is expected to improve the iPhone 13's camera. According to rumors, the entire iPhone 13 lineup will include sensor-shift stabilization technology to improve video stabilization and support for Dolby Vision. Last year, sensor-shift stabilization was only available on the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, but this year, all models will be treated equally. According to some rumors, the Apple A15 CPU has already been manufactured at TSMC's facilities and will be used in the iPhone 13 series.

Apple fixes some issues which may have allowed the hackers steal data from iPhones, iPads

9th May 2021
"Apple is close to solving the security flaws in the default iOS and iPadOS Mail app, which may have made millions of Apple devices vulnerable for 8 years"

Apple is close to solving the security flaws in the default iOS and iPadOS Mail app, which may have made millions of Apple devices vulnerable for 8 years.

First identified in the iOS 6, this vulnerability has been exploited by the hackers ever since.

ZecOps a San Francisco based mobile security forensics firm, discovered the vulnerability while it was investigating a sophisticated cyberattack against a client in 2019.

The firm claimed at the time that the vulnerability had been exploited in at least six security breaches in which the hackers were able to gain access to devices of high profile targets.

According to ZecOps the attack is triggered by sending a rigged email that may or may not require any interaction.

Once triggered the email then runs code in the context of the default mail apps which makes it possible to read modify or delete messages.

Apple has been unaware of this issue till February after ZecOps alerted the company.

The flaws have since been patched up in the latest beta releases of iOS 13 and a solution is will be available in next iOS update.

Which iPhone models support Nepal Telecom’s VoLTE service?

3rd June 2021
"Nepal Telecom’s VoLTE service has started running on iPhones from Tuesday"

Nepal Telecom’s VoLTE service has started running on iPhones from Tuesday. Recently Telecom started Nepal’s first VoLTE service which was only supported in a few Android phones only.

However using the service on iPhones presented a problem of sms not being delivered, so Telecom had contacted Apple for the solution. The problem was resolved and now iPhone users in Nepal can also get the VoLTE service.

According to the company, the models after iPhone 6 can use the service. But if the iPhone set you are using was made for China, Japan or America the service will not function. Similarly the phones that have been jailbroken will not support VoLTE either. Only the global version models of iPhone will support the service according to the Telecom.

Currently 4G LTE is only operational in iPhones with 1800 Megahertz band. Next update might include the VoLTE for 900 Megahertz iPhones.

How to use VoLTE service?

  • Activate VoLTE on your sim by dialing *444#. Then in the phone setting select Cellular,  go to Cellular Data Option > Voice and Data > LTE and enable VoLTE.

  • If you can’t find the VoLTE option then your iPhone doesn’t support the service. You may have to wait for the next update. But remember, unlike Android phones “VoLTE” will not be visible on the top of your screen even if the service is running

  • To confirm that the service is active on your iPhone, dial 1444. Then dial 1 to receive a free 100 minutes VoLTE call.

If your iPhone is not country specific or have not been jailbroken, and still doesn’t support VoLTE, please wait for the next iOS update.
