Should you seriously consider buying Isuzu’s budget pick-up?
Exterior
While not unpleasant to look at, the Isuzu Hi-Lander's exterior isn't particularly noteworthy. It's built on the famous Isuzu D-Max platform, so it’s no surprise that it looks a lot like it.
A dark-grey grille sits in the front fascia, flanked by a pair of halogen headlamps. Underneath, body-colored bumpers are mounted. The Isuzu Hi-Lander embodies the uncomplicated pickup silhouette from the profile. The body is supported by 16-inch steel hubs that are clad in wheel covers.
They work well because they don't look too small in the wheel arches and look adequate for budget collection. The ORVMs are also painted dark grey, and the 'Hi-Lander' badge is located beneath them.

The body is supported by 16-inch hubs made of steel with wheel pads. They work well because they don't look too small in the wheel arches and look adequate for budget collection. The ORVMs also has a dark gray coloration, and under them is the 'Hello-Lander' badge.
The back is supported by an essential vertical halogen taillight configuration with built-in indicators. An HMSL (High Mounted Stop Lamp) can be found on the back panel above the large rear window. You get a D-Max badge, a chrome door handle, and another badge on the tailgate that lets you know about the 2.5 Turbo Diesel Intercooler. The bed for the cargo is large, but the liner is not provided.
Performance
A 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine is under the hood which produces a maximal capacity of 134 BHP and a peak power of 320NM. This motor is connected to a manual 5-speed gearbox.
The Isuzu Hi-Lander does what a vehicle in the range should, even though it may not win any races. The way power is delivered has a sense of maturity. The Hi-Lander leaves the line and starts relaxingly. The pickup finds its way in the mid rev ranges. Naturally, it can be difficult to find this sweet spot in busy traffic.
The Isuzu Hi-Lander responds with enthusiasm on open roads. On your right foot. The Hi-Lander is easy to watch miles and if you are behind the wheels, you are interested in doing the same thing. When overtaking manoeuvres, the output of power inspires confidence.
Interior and Features
Within the cabin, the color scheme is grey and black. The use of hard scratchy plastic is plentiful, as you would expect from a budget pick-up. However, some practical and up-to-date features can be found inside the Isuzu Hi-Lander hall. A 7-inch infotainment system, which does no other than Bluetooth or AUX, is located in the center of the dashboard. It's reactive, but it's going to be a little time.
The system also took a few attempts, but it worked flawlessly when it was connected. The screen also functions as the reverse camera display.
There are large and comfortable front and rear seats. The cabinet contains useful armchairs and cup holders. You will find a recess on the dash where your phone can be stored. However, we recommend that you do not use this place when driving in difficult off-road sections unless you are willing to see your cell phone flying around. You get bottles of a mineral water bottle and a few other snacks on every door.
The door switchboard is controlled by the window. The driver side window is fitted with all windows and buttons for the doors and windows to be locked. You will, however, see that there are no ORVM switches, so you have to adjust them.
The manual air condition effectively cools the cabin, which is useful in the summer. Retro-visibility is facilitated by a large rear window panel. The ORVMs are also large enough to ensure that you know what is happening around you. In conjunction with the high-view point, your environment can easily be seen when this huge machine is driven.
Overall, Isuzu Hi-Lander manages to incorporate useful characteristics and compartments to balance the budgetary limitations of interior design and components.
