The Enfield Rendezvous & Poker Run gets ready for its 11th glorious year

9th April 2021
"BE A PART OF THE BIGGEST THUNDER RIDE EVER"

Started with the participation of 22 riders in 2009, the Enfield Rendezvous & Poker Run today is the biggest motorcycling event in Nepal.

This annual event, the first of its kind in Nepal, is organized by Sacred Summits (P) Ltd for the Royal Enfield and classic bike enthusiasts to come together and share the tales about the riding experiences.

It is a non-competitive motorcycle riding event that is put together for the celebration of the Nepali New Year with fellow Enfield riders

The local and international Enfield riders of all ages, with their spouses, friends get together and share 2- 3 days of long rides through the beautiful terrains and mountains of Nepal.

The participants will also get to try their luck with a poker game as well, but it's not played traditionally.

During the ride, the riders will be dealt one card at each stop including the beginning point.

At the final destination whoever has the highest cards is announced the winner.

For the 11th edition of the Enfield Poker Run, magnificent Pokhara has been selected as the destination and will take place from 11th to 15th April.

The final date to register for the ride is the 10th of April. Visit their Facebook page for more info about registration:Enfield Rendezvous & Poker Run

The registration fee is Rs 13,000 for Nepali citizens, INR 8,500 for Indian citizens, and the US $ 130 for international participants.

It is also an opportunity to show off the bikes to compete for the "Best Enfield (Original Design)" and the "Best Customized Enfield Motorcycle" awards.

There will also be prizes for the "Best Supporting Woman Rider", "Longest Distance Rider", "Senior Citizen's Award" and "Hard Luck Award".

Mr. Rabi Thapa and Mr.Stewart Mc Lean started the first-ever Enfield Poker Run to pay homage to the memories of a dear friend late Binod Chettri who was a passionate Enfield Rider.

It had been a precious dream of Mr. Binod to bring the international 'poker run' event to Nepal.

For Mr. Rabi Thapa and the whole Sacred Summit team, this event is more about the brotherhood and symphony of camaraderie amongst the riders than the poker game, fancy hotels, or exciting locations.

In view of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, all the health and safety regulations will be strictly implied for the safety of everyone involved.

Previously organized with a maximum of 400 riders, however this year in respect to covid health regulation the number of participants has been limited to only 150.

Khukri Rum is the title sponsor of this event and Kavach Gears and Hard Hat are the safety partners, ensuring and encouraging the safety measures for bike riders.

This event is supported by Nepal Tourism Board and Pokhara Tourism Council in an effort to kick start the paralyzed tourism sector in the last year.

Royal Enfield is developing electric motorcycles to be affordable mid-weight bikes

20th August 2020
"The company has formed a dedicated team to look into the e-bike foray."

Eicher Motor-owned Royal Enfield is the leader in the 350cc and above bike segment in India with brands such as Classic, Himalayan and Interceptor. The company is the first from its industry to share plans about electric motorcycles.

Royal Enfield has developed prototypes of electric bikes and formed an internal team to not just develop products but to choose the right segment for entering the electric motorcycle space, a top company official said.

Royal Enfield’s CEO Vinod Dasari explained how the development of a Royal Enfield electric motorcycle has actually already begun with prototypes currently in development:

“It is not about whether electric will come or not, but it’s a question of when. We did make some prototypes, we have looked at several segments, and we will be adding to the team in the near future.”

Last year, the electric two-wheeler market saw a jump of 20 per cent in volumes to 152,000 units compared to FY19. This was heavily dominated by cheaper and low-powered electric scooters.

Other bikes makers such as Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor Company, Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha have been working on electric scooters for the Indian market.

Some start-ups such Ultraviolette, Tork Motors, Ather Energy, Revolt Intellicorp and Okinawa have either launched or are in advanced stages of launching an electric motorcycle.
