Maintenance tips for cars headlights

16th January 2022
"You must regularly maintain the headlights and taillights with the same effort as maintaining other components."

The lights of your car may not get as much care as the engine or the tires. And yet, the lights are an essential part of your car that enables you to drive at night. However, you must regularly maintain the headlights and taillights with the same effort as maintaining other components.

So, here are seven effective tips that will let you keep your car lights clean:

Inspect the light

The first step to proper headlight and brake light care is to do regular, frequent inspections of the lights.

This can be a quick walk-around where you examine the lights for any failures, uneven dimness, and other defects.

If something is dirty, out of order, or needs replacing, be sure to take action immediately and don’t put it off.

Clean the Headlights regularly

If dirt or grime builds up on your windshield, you will likely wipe it clean because it’s harder to see through.

Though they’re less obvious than a dirty windshield, messy headlights also can hinder visibility.

They make it more difficult for light from the bulbs to illuminate the path ahead.

If your headlights are dirty, yellow, or cloudy, they are going to prevent the bulbs from illuminating the road ahead properly.

Replace your car headlights in pairs

In case your car requires replacing the bulbs, never do it for one. Remember that the globes in your headlights and tail lights come in pairs.

When you replace the component, you need to purchase new lights in pairs as well.

This will retain the consistency of your light as you drive. Replacing bulbs in this manner will prevent you from driving with just one functional bulb.

Check the Headlight Alignment

The majority of people know how dangerous misaligned wheels can be, and the issues this can cause.

It may surprise you to learn that headlights can also get out of alignment, resulting in safety issues for you and your passengers.

Headlights are designed by the manufacturers to aim the beams in the same direction.

However, jolts that are caused by potholes can result in the headlights getting displaced. This can cause safety problems.

Choose High-Performance Headlights

If you invest in high-performance headlights, you are going to be more aware of potential obstacles in the road.

These types of lights will help you react sooner.

Any time you choose a headlight that is higher quality than what is considered basic or standard; it’s going to provide you with a better and safer driving experience.

Electric Vehicles | Cars | Bikes: Advantages and Disadvantages

30th December 2019
"The government is motivating the customers to buy electric vehicles through tax waivers for EVs."

Not long ago, Nepal only imported vehicles that were generated and operated through fossil fuels. The reasons were simple, lack of enough electricity and public trust in electric vehicles. However, considering the fact that Nepal is one of the richest sources of water and reduction of power cuts, Nepal is now being seen as the potential country for EVs.

Maaz Ashraf, the marketing and communications manager from NIU electric scooter quotes, “This is the third year for NIU electric scooter in Nepal. The first year was disappointing as the people didn’t get the idea of an electric vehicle, and its price range. The second-year was comparatively better and the third year has been overwhelming. The perspective of people towards EVs is changing.”

The government is motivating the customers to buy electric vehicles through tax waivers for EVs. Also, the reduction of load shedding and awareness of people about the difference in cost when switching from a petrol vehicle to an electric vehicle is a supporting factor. More?

Did you visit the NADA Auto Show 2019?

We could observe that there were only a few fuel generated vehicles launched. The rest of all was electric. Brands like Hyundai, KIA, Peugeot launched their EVs recently and they are undeniably hitting the market with a good response. New and local brands like BYD, TheeGo, Genius, Miyama were also getting a very good response from the public. Recently, Yatri introduced Project Zero, YATRI bike which is getting launched in January 2020, has been the talk of the nation. People are more inclined towards the EVs than the fuel generated vehicles.

Is an electric vehicle the future?

Electric Vehicles Advantages and Disadvantages

When we asked this question to the visitors of NADA and other general people and enthusiasts, we got mixed opinions. Some said that electric vehicles are indeed the future because it has advantages of low cost, easy maintenance and eco-friendly. However, some opposed stating that motor vehicles are supposed to be roaring through the streets and no electric vehicle can give such an experience. One visitor we interviewed in NADA said that the electric bike is no less than a cycle, it definitely doesn’t give the vibes of a motorbike at all.

Electric vehicle disadvantages:

Lithium-Ion, the main component of the EV’s battery, being a limited resource, cannot fully replace all the vehicles. Similarly, in the context of Nepal, we don’t have any policy regarding the disposal of the used battery (as of now). As quoted by Santosh Nyaupane, “The liquid coming out of the battery is a hazardous chemical that degrades the environment. If the liquid is disposed at a particular place, it becomes deteriorated and we cannot expect anything to grow from the soil for at least a decade.”

Battery used in electric vehicles

The pioneers of electric vehicles are trying to come up with ideas and inventions for the invention of full proof eco-friendly vehicles. The government is supporting the initiative by providing low-interest rates on loans for installing electric charging sockets. Companies like Hyundai are already exploring and testing hydrogen-powered vehicles. The future of the automobile is still getting advanced. We will keep on informing you of all those innovations. Stay tuned with us.

Best way to make your car last longer

13th December 2021
"Drivers, who know how to properly treat their vehicle with regular upkeep and maintenance, as well as proper driving techniques, make your car last longer"

Drivers, who know how to properly treat their vehicle with regular upkeep and maintenance, as well as proper driving technique, get far more kilometers out of their purchase than those who don’t.

Here are some tips to help you keep your used car on the road longer and save money at the same time:

Maintain your car’s battery

If you don’t use your car for long periods, the battery will degrade and go flat.

Consider using a trickle charger to keep the battery topped up if your car is left in a garage for an extended period or a battery conditioner if it appears to hold less charge than usual.

If your battery does go flat, having to jump-start a car puts additional strain on the battery and may damage the engine management system and other delicate electronics: a double-whammy of increased wear.

Drive smoothly

Your driving techniques have a huge impact on how long your car lasts.

Driving your car smoothly means planning your stops to avoid slamming on your brakes.

It also means staying alert of your surroundings and avoiding potholes, bumps, and other mishaps on the road.

Driving smoothly will minimize wear on your vehicle, save fuel, increase the longevity of your car, and most importantly, keep you safe.

Check your tires

Tires are arguably your car’s most important safety feature and it’s no exaggeration to say that checking them regularly – about once a week – could save your life.

Under-inflated tires will also increase fuel consumption, so keep them topped up to the recommended pressures listed in your car’s handbook to save money.

Change filters regularly

Your car’s oil filter and air filter become clogged over time, so it’s important to renew them regularly.

They should be replaced as part of scheduled car servicing, but both are relatively simple jobs – particularly an air filter swap – so you might want to give it a try yourself and save money in the process.

You can often prolong the life of the air filter by washing it, too.

Service schedule

Regular servicing is vital to keep your car in tip-top condition and prolong its life.

Service intervals are based on time or miles are driven – once a year or every 10,000 miles, for example.

Check the handbook to find out when your car is due to a service and what work is required.

A minor service includes changing the oil and oil filter and replacing other fluids if necessary.

Depending on the car and mileage, a major service may also cover the replacement of the air filter, spark plugs, and cambelt.
