Mi announced the launch of the Mi 10T series via an online event on September 30. The Mi 10T series comprises of 3 smartphones- Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, and Mi 10T Lite. The mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi is the successor of the Mi 10 series and it is bound to go for sales in Europe starting from October 1. 

Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro Overview

Design and Display

The design and features of the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro are quite similar. Being the successor of Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, it still shares some similar features. They both have the same display size of 6.67 inches. The FHD+ resolution display of phones is protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The major attraction of the phones is its 144Hz AdaptiveSync refresh rate which changes by adapting the apps that are in use. 

As for the design, both Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro features a glass at back and front both protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with an aluminum frame. At the front, they have a punch-hole cutout that houses a single selfie shooter.

Performance and Battery

As for the performance and the hardware, Mi 10T runs on Android 10 and is powered by Snapdragon 865 which means that the phone supports 5G connectivity. Mi 10T Pro comes with 2 variants of 8GB RAM/ 128GB and 8GB RAM/ 256GB storage. Likewise, Mi 10T also comes with 2 variants of 6GB/ 128GB and 8GB/ 128GB.

Both Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro has a huge 5000mAh battery that comes with 33W fast charging support. 

Camera

The camera of the phones, on the other hand, is the huge difference between these phones. Mi 10T Pro features a triple camera at the rear with a 108MP ultra-high-resolution primary sensor, 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro lens. The Mi 10T, however, features a triple camera at the rear with a 64MP high-resolution primary sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 5MP macro sensor. As for the front camera, both Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro feature a 20MP ultra-clear camera.

Price and Availability

The phones will go for sale from October 1 in Europe. The distribution to other countries is not mentioned; however, we can expect them to come into the Nepalese market soon.

Note series phones from Xiaomi has been very popular in many markets, Nepal being one of them. Starting with Redmi Note 8, the phone has a glass sandwich design with Gorilla Glass 5 at the front and back and frame in the middle made of plastic. The design of the phone is inspired by Note 7 from last year but improved and more polished. Edges are more curved than its predecessor to makes it easy for users to hold and use the phone.

Coming to the display of Redmi Note 8, the phone features a 6.3 inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2340, an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and the pixel count of 409 PPI. The display is bright and vibrant usable in any lighting conditions.

Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor which is bundled with 3/4/6 GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of internal storage. Graphics of the phone are handled by Adreno 610 which handles the big title games like PUBG and Asphault 8 with no problem. We played games in the highest settings and saw no stutters or lags while playing.

On the camera side, Note 8 comes with a quad-camera setup at the back with a Primary sensor being a 48 MP, f/1.8 wide-angle lens. Assisting the primary sensor is 8 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide, 2 MP, f/2.4 dedicated macro lens and a 2 MP, f/2.4 depth sensor. Cameras on the phone are arranged vertically at the top left side of the phone. Video recording in the phone supports 2160p@30fps or 1080p@30/60/120fps and 720p @960fps slow-mo video. In the front a 13 MP, f/2.0 selfie camera resides in the water-drop notch capable of taking decent selfies.

The Redmi Note 8 runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box and while testing we got to upgrade it to MIUI 11. Talking about the battery, the phone comes with an impressive 4000mAh battery which lasted a whole day in a single charge. The phone supports 18W fast charging and took around 2 hours to fully charge the phone.

Other Redmi Note 8 features include dual sim support, dedicated memory card slot expandable up to 256 GB, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth v4.2, FM radio, USB Type-C and a fingerprint sensor situated at the back of the phone.

Redmi Note 8 Pro runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) based on MIUI 10 upgradable to MIUI 11 and comes with an impressive 4500 mAh battery supporting 18W fast charging. We tested the charging time of the phone which took around 1 hour 50 mins to charge from 10 to 100% using a Qualcomm 3.0 charger which lasted 2 days with moderate use.

Additional features of the phone include dual sim support, dedicated memory card slot expandable up to 256 GB via microSD, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type C, audio jack and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just below the camera module.
