Tips when buying a portable charger for your phone

3rd January 2022
"Sometimes it feels exhausting to choose the best portable charger for your smartphone or other electronic devices."

Portable chargers or power banks have had a great boom in recent years. There are a great variety of models available. And sometimes it feels exhausting to choose the best portable charger for your smartphone or other electronic devices.

So here are some of the tips which can be helpful for you while buying a portable charger for your mobile phone:

Capacity of the power bank

The main spec to look out for in a portable battery pack is capacity, which is measured in milliampere-hour (mAh).

The capacity of your device’s battery is also measured in mAh, so loosely speaking, if your phone has a 2,000mAh battery, a 2,000mAh battery pack is able to recharge it fully once.

Another important question is, for what device you are going to use your power bank? A laptop needs more power than a smartphone.

A smartphone can be charged with a power bank of 3.350 mAh but a laptop needs more power.

Input and Output

The power banks of today are so advanced that you don’t need to make a choice for this question.

Only some of the models that are in stores today might not have the correct input or output for your mobile devices.

So always check the specifications for the input and output and what devices are compatible with the power bank.

Price and quality

Batteries can explode, and the one measure we can take to (hopefully) prevent this is to buy from name brands or reputable vendors.

If you are searching for the perfect power bank that fits your needs, you have to look further than just the pictures.

Take a look at the specifications and decide what specifications are important for your usage of the power bank.

Sometimes a cheaper model isn’t matching your needs and the cheap power bank may not last as long as you wish.

Number of Ports

Many recent battery packs come with a built-in USB cable that wraps around the case so that you don’t need to worry about leaving the USB cable at home.

Higher capacity battery packs also usually come with more than one USB charging port.

Naturally, more ports cost more money, and the number of ports you should go for depends on how many devices you carry.

The biggest advantage of additional ports is that you can charge more devices at the same time.

Size

A power bank is very easy to use when there is no wall socket available and you have to charge your electronic devices on the way to your destination.

The size of the power bank is very important to look at because you need to take the power bank with you.

A power bank for your smartphone or tablet is able to fit in your pocket but a larger laptop power bank isn’t.

A laptop power bank does fit in your backpack or the handbag.

IMEI: Unregistered mobile phones to stop working from today

16th July 2021
"NTA has said mobile phones which have been in use till date will not face any problems."

Mobile phones whose International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers have not been registered at Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) will stop working from today. While announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22, former finance minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel had stated that mobile phones which are illegally brought into the country will stop functioning from today.

As per the announcement made during the budget presentation, NTA has deployed the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) from today to control the illegal import of mobile devices into the country. The MDMS which is being implemented from today was being prepared by the telecommunication regulatory body for a long.

NTA has said the Mobile Device Management System is being implemented to make sure that the quality of the mobile phones and their IMEI numbers are registered with the telecom regulator.

Meanwhile, Nepal Telecommunications Authority has issued a notice mentioning that mobile phones which have been in use to date will not face any problems. The notice mentions that in the initial stage authorised distributors will have to register the IMEI numbers of the mobile phones that have been imported at the MDMS. It has added the system will be gradually enhanced and made fully operational so as to provide even more secure and reliable services.

The Mobile Device Management System makes sure that mobile phones which are imported illegally or are counterfeits will not be functional. Similarly, phones that have been stolen will also not function.

NTA has constructed a building in Chabahil to house the hardware and software that are necessary for the implementation of the Mobile Device Management System.

There’s almost no need to buy a new, flashy model if you bought a phone in the last few years. Here are a few tips and ideas that will boost your old phone and make it look completely new.

Update:

If you want to make your phone function well, this is the main thing you need to do. Update your operating system! Upgrading your operating system will get the latest in security and bug fixes and will also add any helpful new features to your phone. So why not do it?

Update

If your phone won’t accept the latest update because the hardware is out of date, it’s not the end of the world! Get a new one.

Remove unnecessary apps and get more storage:

First, get rid of the apps you don’t use any longer. Then delete your unnecessary files, data, and photos. This will free up the space in your mobile phone and also after the uninstallation of unused apps, the phone will start to function more properly.

Uninstall apps

Moreover, more space means your apps can cache more data, which ultimately means they run faster.

Install a new battery:

If your battery isn’t packing its old punch and you’re searching for chargers everywhere you go, it might be time for a new one. Over time, phone batteries lose capacity; and thankfully, there’s a way of getting around it. Even if your phone is sealed, it may be possible to install a new battery by contacting the manufacturer or a trusted dealer.

Phone battery

Nothing makes a phone feel new again like getting a new battery for it. Moreover, it gives life to your phone.

There are other few things that will make your phone look new from the outside. Other few things that you can do are:

Phone accesories

  • A New Case
