Volkswagen Taigun Ready To Take On Creta - Reviews

7th February 2021
"By mid-2021, the Volkswagen Taigun will enter showrooms in India."

The German carmaker has introduced a brand-new Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV for the Indian market.

Volkswagen Taigun Ready To Take On Creta

Many years have passed since the world-famous German carmaker Volkswagen began production in India.

Now, the company is about to present its claim in the most popular segment of the Indian market. By mid-2021, the Volkswagen Taigun will enter showrooms in India.

Exterior

Volkswagen Taigun Ready To Take On Creta

Taigun looks very conventional SUV. The signature bold twin-slat wide grille, synonymous with VW SUVs, can be seen flanked by squared-off LED headlamps. The high-mount headlamps in the front make this SUV look aggressive.

The Taigun seems to have been well proportioned in silhouette for the SUV role. It will wear 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design.

Interior

Volkswagen Taigun Ready To Take On Creta

The Taigun SUV's interior styling is highly influenced by the global Polo hatchback. It features a clutter-free dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system on the centre of the dash. The touchscreen also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

There will be Leather seats, rear air-con vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and an electric panoramic sunroof.

The Volkswagen Taigun is fitted with high-end features for safety and protection. It will offer dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, rear parking sensors, seat belt alert, and speed alert.

Engine

The Taigun comes in two petrol engine variants.

The major focus will be a more powerful 1.0-litre version, expected to release approximately 115hp (up from 110hp). This version comes with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic torque converter.

Although VW's small-capacity three-cylinder engine may not seem exciting at first glance, it is similar in output to Hyundai's naturally aspirated 1.5 petrol engine that powers the Creta. VW's 1.0, however, has a clear advantage when it comes to the torque, making it 200Nm vs Creta 1.5's 144Nm.

Another variant of Taigun comes with a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine that gives 150hp, which also has a 10hp advantage over Hyundai’s 1.4 turbo. Top-end versions of this SUV will come with a DSG twin-clutch automatic gearbox.

Key Features Of Volkswagen Taigun

  • Multi-function Steering Wheel
  • Power Adjustable Exterior Rear View Mirror
  • Automatic Climate Control
  • Engine Start Stop Button
  • Alloy Wheels
  • Fog Lights
  • Power Windows Rear
  • Power Windows Front
  • Power Steering
  • multilayer dashboard
  • 10-inch touchscreen
  • Digital instrument display.

Taigun is going to have a new high-quality flat-bottom steering wheel, electronic stability control, and wireless charging.

Volkswagen has provided radar-based cruise control, lane maintenance, and some autonomous driving system in order to make this car more feature-rich.
