STORY
The "Ready to race" DNA story began in a period in which the general public did not even visualise the trend of powerful racing bikes and automobiles. An Austrian engineer Hans Trunkenpolz opened a car repair shop in Mattighofen in 1934. In a short span of 3 years, he introduced to his venture engines from DKW motorcycles and Opel cars. This was the evolution of KTM as a brand as a brand.
The company began to be known as Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen: Kraftfahrzeug, which means motor vehicle Trunkenpolz, named after its founder Hans Trunkenpolz, in German; and Mattighofen, the shop's venue.
The venture was split into four different entities in 1992 after its early success during the '70s and' 80s; where bicycles were developed by KTM Fahrrad GmbH automotive radiators were designed by KTM Kühler GmbH, tooling production was given to KTM Werkzeugbau GmbH and then KTM sport motorcycle GmbH was the most prevalent division i.e. motorcycle division.
Since its early days, KTM has always prioritized the strength and efficiency of its engines as a brand. KTM has always portrayed the purity of the design and the uncompromising feature that determines the READY TO RACE mindset on its engine, whether on the early KTM R 100 or on the new Duke 390 predator.
For KTM, the year 1957 can be described as a landmark year as the venture succeeded in manufacturing its first "Trophy 125" sports motor and its first "Mirabell" scooter for its Ready to Race line.
In terms of commercial wide-scale manufacturing, not only has KTM established itself as the most favored brand, but it has also built a reputation for itself by dominating the Toughest Race on The Face Of This Planet Dakar Rally by winning the event for 18 consecutive years from 2001-2019 and recent podiums in Moto GP have extended KTM's Championship count to 316.
