Applicants for new driving license exceeds 5,00,000
"Service recipients have filled up forms through transport management offices across the country to attend an examination for a driving license."
Applicants for a new driving license has exceeded 500,000. Service recipients have filled up forms through transport management offices across the country to attend an examination for a driving license. The application for a new driving license was opened up in mid-December 2020 in coordination between the office under the provincial government and the department under the federal government.
According to the Nepal Constitution, responsibility regarding license has been shared between the federal and provincial governments. The Nepal government had handed over the concerned offices to the province government.
The government had adjourned the task of receiving applications for a new driving license since mid-March last year due to COVID-19 fear. Department’s Information Officer Dr. Loknath Bhusal said the flow was high as the application process for the license was held for a hiatus of 10 months before.
He further shared that arrangement has been made in a way to enable applicants to register their applications for 24 hours and all seven days. “The service recipients can submit an application for a license in their suitable time”.
Earlier, the Department had opened up online registration of application at a certain time. It was difficult for the service recipients to fill up the forms at once due to oversubscription.
Spokesperson Dr. Bhusal shared that trouble in submitting the application has been removed right now. “Complaints on the difficulty in registering the application for a license have gradually come down”.
