How to remove odor from car interior

21st December 2021
"When you own a car, you realize after a while that even if you try your best to keep it clean, dirty and bad smells are unavoidable"

When you own a car, you realize after a while that even if you try your best to keep it clean, dirty and bad smells are unavoidable. Here’s a look at common causes of car odors and how you can remove them:

Re-circulation Air

Every car allows you to re-circulate the air via the press of a button.

This helps fresh air to come inside the car interior and is advisable when you are eating on the move.

Likewise, if someone is having a smoke, roll down the windows a bit along with switching the air-con to the re-circulate mode.

Clean It Out

Avoid eating inside the car. If you do, roll down the windows slightly.

Every night when you park your car, make sure you throw out every possible trash into the dustbin.

This includes empty packets of strong-smelling chips, cigarettes, and even coffee cups.

You will be surprised to know how these little things can fill the car interiors with odor by the next morning.

A handy tip is to keep those black garbage bags in the boot and use them each night to pack all the trash and leftover items easily.

Air freshener

Invest in a good car perfume. You can never go wrong with these.

However, in summers, some of these do tend to leak a bit, so be wary of them.

A cheaper option is to use your favorite deodorant and spray it inside the car interiors but not directly onto a cabin part like a seat or dashboard.

Let it be in the air, close all the windows, and let the fragrance settle down. Likewise, you can even keep perfumed wet tissues under the seat.

Poke a couple of holes into the box as this will help the essence leak out slowly into the car interior.

Baking Soda

When you are concerned about spilled liquid waste items, baking soda or kitty litter can be used as an inexpensive absorbent.

All you need to do is sprinkle it on, rub it in and leave it for a few hours. It will then absorb any liquid and foul smells.

After a few hours, use a vacuum machine to clean out the car properly.

White Vinegar

White vinegar is the easiest solution for cleaning large surfaces.

You need to mix one part white vinegar with two parts water in a spray bottle and spray the solution onto the seats (repeat the process till the odor is gone).

It is a natural, antibacterial, and anti-fungal mix which makes it extra effective to fight against food or mold odors.

Simple Car Riding mistakes to be Avoided

20th December 2021
"We can see many road accidents taking place these days in Nepal and most of the cases are due to human error."

We can see many road accidents taking place these days in Nepal and most of the cases are due to human error.

Driving a car is an interesting thing to do but there are some common mistakes we need to avoid. Some of them are:

Failure to Use Your Turn Signal

One of the most common driving mistakes that can put you in danger is neglecting to use your turn signal. When you turn or change lanes, this simple act is crucial to ensuring your safety.

A quick turn signal is the best way to inform other drivers of your next move.

When you use your turn signal, you’re alerting other drivers of your intentions, which gives them time to accommodate you turning a corner or changing lanes.

If you don’t use it, no one will know when you plan to slow down and turn or head for a different lane on the highway which means they could accidentally hit you.

Always use your turn signal even if there’s no one behind you so it becomes a habit.

Poor Steering Wheel Techniques

Your vehicle relies on you to keep it on the straight and narrow, but if you use poor steering techniques, things can turn out badly.

Many drivers try to drive with one hand or simply don’t practice the proper techniques when it comes to using the steering wheel. Also, when you don’t have a firm grip on the wheel, it’s easy to lose control of your vehicle and end up in a crash.

Some drivers “hook the wheel” which means that they don’t use both hands and place their forearm facing up with just one hand gripping the wheel. This is a dangerous, ineffective way to steer a vehicle safely.

Leaving high beams on

This is one of the most common habits of most of the drivers out there. Forgetting to lower the beam of light when there is a vehicle coming from the opposite side.

High beams are essential when driving at night on roads that do not have streetlights.

However, these beams can blind oncoming traffic and distract drivers ahead of you. So when you see another car’s headlights or taillights in the distance, use low beams.

Stopping abruptly without warning

Slamming on the brakes in moving traffic for no obvious reason, is one of the leading causes of accidents on roads and highways.

A sudden decision to stop without thought or indication is bound to have consequences.

You should always be aware of the cars behind you, stopping slowly and carefully, giving other drivers time to react and adjust.

Tips and ideas to keep your car organized

Sometimes our cars are filled with junk, trash, and old food between the seats. When you have free time to get things done, the last thing you want to do is get back in the car and clean it. Instead of having to do a deep clean every few months, you can take preventative measures to keep it clean.

Buy a Car Trash Can

Let’s face it kids are messy, and so are adults. It is convenient to throw trash in the pockets of your car or the passenger seat when on the go.

If we don’t have access to a trash can, we say we will throw it away later. Car trash cans can help! There are a few options to choose from.

Hanging trash cans can hold more oversized items like bottles or fast food bags. They can hold items like straw wrappers or receipts.

A trash can may not seem like much, but it will help to depose the trash of the car in a matter of seconds.

Keep a pack of wipes in the car

Whether or not you have small kids, wipes will come in handy for any car owner.

They’re great for cleaning up spills, wiping dirty hands, and a quick way to get the interior plastics and hard surfaces in your car spick and span.

Invest in a Trunk Organizer

A trunk organizer is a great way to keep your supplies organized in one place.

There will be no more loud banging from stuff rolling around in your back seat or trunk. Inside, you can fit your emergency supplies, such as jumper cables, first aid kit, flares, and more.

An even better use would be putting your car cleaning supplies inside.

Try a Pet Seat Cover

Traveling with your pets sometimes is necessary. Whether taking them to the vet, the dog park, or on a road trip. If your dog sheds, this can be an issue.

No one wants dog hair covering their car seats and floating through the air. Pet seat covers are the perfect solution.

They protect your car seats from hair, scratch marks, and pee. Plus, you can take it out at any time if you don’t need it.

Buy a Car Seat Gap Organizer

The worst part of cars is the gap between the car seat and center console.

When your phone falls, it takes forever to squeeze your hand through the tiny little gap to pick it up.

With a car seat gap organizer, you won’t have to worry about this anymore. You can put your phone, sunglasses, paper, pens or whatever you need inside.

Plus, it will block the hole, so nothing will fall underneath your seat.
