World's Largest Trade Show CES Goes Digital For 2021; Dates Announced

"Over the years the focus of CES has moved away from consumer electronics to telecommunications and automotive technology."

The online-only platform will open the world's largest trade show to an even larger audience. CES takes place every year in the month of January in Las Vegas Nevada. Like all major trade shows CES in 2021 will be going all digital due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CES Goes Digital For 2021; Dates Announced

The consumer technology association (CTA) which organises CES has said that it is going to be held between January 11 and January 14. This means the trade show has been pushed back by 5 days as originally it would start on January 6 and was to be held till January 9.

The first day of the event will be an exclusive media-only access day and January 12 and 13 will be open to all registered attendees, the last day of the conference will be dedicated for conference programming. 

One can expect him to talk up 5G technology which will be pervasive across the world in this coming decade and will be particularly important for connected cars. In the recent past, some massively outlandish cars have been unveiled at the trade show, including the Mercedes concept car that's inspired by Avatar and Sony's new connected car. 

Over the years the focus of CES has moved away from consumer electronics to telecommunications and automotive technology. This year one should expect some huge announcements from automakers. The keynote will be delivered by Verizon's chairman Hans Westberg

Automotive at CES 2020

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has been the place where global automotive companies showcase the future capabilities of their vehicles. This year, at CES 2020 starting from January 7, one can expect to see the latest and greatest in self-driving vehicles, concept cars, connected vehicles and emerging automotive trends.

Honda: The Japanese auto major will preview a mobility ecosystem forecast for the year 2035 and beyond, with fully autonomous vehicles, shared autonomous mobility, and aerial mobility infrastructure. It will also display its Augmented Driving Concept in CES 2020—to address the cultural transition to autonomous vehicles. In the autonomous future, Honda believes customers will be able to enjoy mobility in new ways when freed from the responsibility of driving. At the same time, customers may still want to experience the emotion and thrill of driving.

Hyundai: The South Korean company will present its vision for human-centred future cities through smart mobility solutions at CES 2020. It will unveil its first concept Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) as part of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) landscape. The use of airspace is expected to alleviate road congestion and give back quality time to city commuters. While PAV is a vehicle for air transportation, UAM is an ecosystem that utilises PAVs. Hyundai will also display its Purpose Built Vehicle (PBV)—a highly customisable concept with an autonomous driving feature.

Toyota: The Japanese carmaker will reveal more of its new Mobility Ecosystem Strategy. There will be visual depiction of Toyota’s ecosystem plans along with mobility products including e-Palette, micro-Palette, LQ and Walking Area BEVs.

Byton: This Chinese all-electric vehicle automotive brand is expected to display its solutions, including the platform called M-Byte, the electric SUV. New possibilities of this platform will be revealed during CES 2020.

At the same time, it’s not just car companies that will be at CES, there will also be micro-mobility vehicles such as electric bikes, scooters and even skateboards.
