Citroen, the French automaker, has made its official India debut with the launch of its first product, the C5 Aircross, today. The SUV is available for a starting price of INR 29,90,000 (introductory, ex-showroom, Delhi). In the segment, the said model competes primarily with the Jeep Compass, the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan facelift, and the Hyundai Tucson. Bookings for the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV are already available in India for a nominal fee of INR 50,000. The launch also marks Groupe PSA's return to the Indian market, making the C5 Aircross an extremely important product for the company.
2021 Citroen C5 Aircross Overview
The vehicle is available in two variants, Feel and Shine, with four color options for customers to choose from. Three of these are dual-tone options. In terms of powertrain, the C5 Aircross is powered by a single 2.0-litre diesel engine capable of producing 175 hp and a peak torque of 400Nm. The transmission is an 8-speed automatic.
Interior and Features
The interior of the car is said to be designed to provide best-in-class comfort. According to the French automaker, no other automaker in India currently talks about the driver and occupants' comfort, but the Citroen C5 Aircross has paid special attention to that.
A 12.3-inch digital instrument console, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, hands-free parking, dual-zone climate control, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, and power-adjustable ORVMs are among the features available in the spacious cabin. It also comes standard with automatic headlamps and wipers, cruise control, and keyless entry.
The Citroen C5 Aircross features three individual rear seats that slide and recline independently. Additionally, the seats can be folded individually to make more room for occupants or luggage.
The C5 Aircross comes standard with 6 airbags, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, ABS with EBD, and TPMs.
Exterior
The SUV is given a chunky and bold design that immediately draws attention. The car also has a strong road presence. The top-tier Shine variant gets LED headlamps and taillights, as well as a panoramic sunroof, which the Feel variant does not.
Engine
The Citroen C5 Aircross is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine producing 177 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the front wheels. The ARAI-certified fuel economy of the C5 Aircross is claimed to be 18.6 kmpl.
