Hyundai Alcazar launched at INR 16.30 lakh

20th June 2021
"Alcazar's exterior has slight design adjustments to distinguish it from the Creta"

The much-anticipated Hyundai Alcazar has been launched in India, with introductory prices starting at Rs 16.30 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 16.53 lakh for the diesel variant (ex-showroom, India). Hyundai started taking reservations for the Alcazar online and at stores earlier this month, with a deposit of Rs 25,000.

The automaker claims it has already received 4,000 reservations for the Alcazar, with a 50:50 split between automatic and manual transmission options. Furthermore, 60 percent of the models booked have a six-seat arrangement, while the remaining 40 percent have a seven-seat layout.

Design

The Alcazar's exterior has slight design adjustments to distinguish it from the Creta. New grille, redesigned front bumper, prominent rear quarter window, new wraparound taillights, a somewhat more upright tailgate, false dual exhaust tips, and larger 18-inch alloy wheels (compared to the Creta's 17-inchers) are among the changes. Another notable distinction between the Alcazar and the Creta is that the Alcazar appears to be 150mm longer due to its longer wheelbase (2,760mm).

Prestige, Platinum, and Signature are the three trim levels available for the Alcazar SUV.

Taiga Brown, Typhoon Silver, Polar White, Titan Grey, Phantom Black, and Starry Night are among the six exterior paint colors available, two of which (white and grey) will be offered in a dual-tone scheme.

Features

The Hyundai Alcazar comes with a long range of amenities, some of which are segment firsts.

A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster (first in the segment), a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hyundai's connected car tech, a lane change camera (visible in the instrument cluster when you use the indicator), a 360-degree camera, in-built middle-row sun shades, a panoramic sunroof, ISOFIX child seat mounts, wireless phone charging, and automa

The Alcazar, unlike the i20 and Verna, has a full-fledged color screen instead of a low-cost backlit LCD digital instrument display (similar to the one seen on Hyundai models abroad).

As previously stated, the Alcazar will receive an additional row of seats, which will be configured as either a 6-seat (with captain's chairs in the second row) or 7-seat (with bench seating in the second row). The inside will be available in a dual-tone black and brown color scheme, and the captain's chair version will feature a distinctive floor-mounted center armrest with cupholders, a wireless phone charger, and additional storage space.

Engine

The Alcazar is available with both a petrol and a diesel engine under the hood.

The 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is a more powerful and upgraded version of the one seen in the Elantra and Tucson. It produces 159hp and 192Nm in the Alcazar (7hp more than the Elantra). The diesel engine, on the other hand, is the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit found in the Creta, delivering 115hp and 250Nm but with a different tune.

Both engines come with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai also boasts that the Alcazar can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds when equipped with a petrol manual transmission.

The three-row SUV also comes with three different drive modes: Comfort, Eco, and Sport, as well as three different traction control modes: Sand, Snow, and Mud.

When it comes to fuel economy, the petrol manual version returns 14.5 kpl, while the automatic version returns 14.2 kpl. The diesel engine is even more efficient, returning 20.4 kpl with the manual transmission and 18.1 kpl with the automatic. According to Hyundai, this makes the Alcazar the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class.

Hyundai Alcazar rivals in 2021

The Hyundai Alcazar now competes with other three-row SUVs such as the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, and Mahindra XUV500. With the launch of the new Mahindra XUV700 (which replaces the current XUV500) later this year, this segment is expected to become even more competitive.

Production-Ready Hyundai Alcazar SUV Revealed

9th April 2021
"The Hyundai Alcazar shares a lot of styling cues with the Creta upfront"

The production-ready model of Hyundai's upcoming 6 and 7-seater Alcazar premium SUV has been revealed ahead of its launch in India. The three-row SUV is built on the same platform as the Creta, but it has a longer wheelbase of 2760mm, which is 150mm longer.

The Hyundai Alcazar shares a lot of styling cues with the Creta upfront. Except for the new grille, the Alcazar resembles the Creta until the C-pillar. However, it is the rear section that distinguishes it from the Creta.

The Alcazar has a longer rear overhang and a thicker C-pillar. It also has a prominent waistline that runs the length of the vehicle, with noticeable creases above the wheel arches. The Alcazar will also get a unique tailgate design with much wider wraparound taillamps and a slightly taller bumper with a prominent faux skid plate.

The Alcazar will be available in both 6-seat (with captain's seats in the second row) and 7-seat configurations. The Alcazar features a first-in-segment rear 2nd-row console armrest for a premium feel and enhanced comfort, as well as a best-in-segment Wheelbase and Sliding seats for versatile legroom and seat adjustment.

The Alcazar will be equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Hyundai's connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, and much more.

The Alcazar will be offered with both gasoline and diesel engines. The 2.0-litre petrol engine generates 159hp and 192Nm. Similarly, the diesel engine is the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged unit that powers the Creta, producing 115hp and 250Nm. Both engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Alcazar launch in India on June 18,

11th June 2021
"The Hyundai Alcazar will join the Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Tucson, and Hyundai Kona EV in the automaker's SUV lineup"

Hyundai Motor India will finally debut its new six/seven-seater SUV, Alcazar, in the country on June 18 after a lengthy delay caused by the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Bookings for the Hyundai Alcazar have already begun at the automaker's dealerships and online car-buying platform, Click to Buy, for a nominal fee of Rs 25,000.

Features

The Alcazar, based on the hugely popular Creta, exemplifies Hyundai's global design language of 'Sensuous Sportiness.' The grille on the Alcazar has been redesigned. While its headlight configuration is similar to that of the Creta, the fog lamps have been modified slightly. The SUV rides on new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

It also includes side foot steps. To accommodate the third row of seats, the rear overhang is longer than that of the Creta. To boost the style factor, the LED tail lamps have been restyled, and a twin-tip exhaust has been installed.

The interiors of the Hyundai Alcazar are dual-tone Cognac Brown. A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, Bose sound system with eight speakers, air purifier with AQI display, 64-color ambient lighting system, and voice-enabled panoramic sunroof are among the notable premium features inside the cabin.

The Alcazar, like other new Hyundai vehicles, will be a connected vehicle featuring Blue Link communication technology. Comfort creatures such as a sliding sunvisor and a rear window sunshade are also available.

Seating

Customers can choose between a six-seater and a seven-seater arrangement. The Hyundai Alcazar six-seater has captain seats in the middle row, while the seven-seater has a bench seat with a 60:40 split in the middle row. Hyundai claims the Alcazar offers the greatest middle row one-touch tip and tumble chairs in the segment for accessing the third row.

Specifications

The Hyundai Alcazar is available with two engines: a third-generation Nu 2.0-litre petrol and a U2 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol engine generates 159PS of peak power and 191Nm of peak torque, while the diesel engine generates 115PS of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque. Both engines are available with 6-speed MT or 6-speed AT torque converters. The Hyundai Alcazar mpg is said to be the best in the segment for both petrol and diesel engines. The SUV has three drive modes (Comfort, Eco, and Sport) and as many traction control modes as there are traction control modes (snow, sand and mud). The SUV features a segment-leading wheelbase of 2,760mm.

Competitors

The Hyundai Alcazar will join the Hyundai Venue, Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Tucson, and Hyundai Kona EV in the automaker's SUV lineup. It will compete with the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Mahindra XUV500.

Price

The Hyundai Alcazar is expected to be priced in India between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom).

13th June 2021
"The cabin exudes luxury and is equipped with a slew of amenities"

Hyundai Motor India Ltd has unveiled the interior and features of the Hyundai Alcazar, a 6- and 7-seater premium SUV. You're entirely wrong if you think the Alcazar is just a bigger Creta. Despite the fact that both SUVs have the same underpinnings, the Alcazar has a few unique features that set it apart from its 5-seater sibling. The Alcazar has a 2,760 mm wheelbase, which is the longest in the segment.

The cabin exudes luxury and is equipped with a slew of amenities.

It will be available with Premium Dual Tone Cognac Brown interiors and the following features: Voice-activated smart panoramic sunroof, 2nd row one-touch tip and tumble seats (Captain & 60:40 Split Seats), Drive mode select (comfort | eco | sport), Traction control modes (snow | sand | mud), Puddle lamps with Hyundai logo projection, 64-color ambient lighting, Power driver seat – 8 Way, and Advantech (Connected-Car technology).

A 10.25" Multi display digital cluster, Bose premium sound system (8 Speakers), Auto healthy air purifier with AQI display, Front row seatback table with retractable cup-holder and IT device holder, Front row sliding sunvisor, Side footstep, and Rear window sunshade are just a few of the first-in-segment features available on the Alcazar.

The Alcazar is available with a 2.0 liter petrol MPi engine and a 1.5 liter diesel CRDi engine, both with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.

The 2.0 liter Petrol MPi engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gear, produces 157 bhp and 191 Nm of peak torque, and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 10 seconds. The 1.5-litre diesel engine, on the other hand, produces the same 113 horsepower and 250 Nm of peak torque as the Creta diesel. According to Hyundai, both the 2.0 liter petrol MPi engine and the 1.5 liter diesel CRDi engine deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency when combined with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
