If you are in the market looking for a zero-emissions car, your choices were fairly limited.
Well, you can look at Mahindra E2O It is one of Nepal's most popular car models. It's been more than a decade since this modest, small and attractive car is driving along the roads of Nepal. Agni Energy has been selling Mahindra E2O cars in Nepal for several years.
The car, which first came to the Nepali market with the name of Reva was further changed into Mahindra E2O after the takeover by Mahindra Group in India. The car is currently available in the E2O Plus variant.
Exterior
Mahindra Electric has opted for a slightly more conventional design for the E20 Plus, as compared to its quirkier small sibling. It is also longer (by 310mm), wider (by 61mm), and taller (by 25mm).
Upfront, the E2O Plus gets an all-new grille – with vertical striate to bring it in line with other Mahindra cars – flanked by the same projector headlights. In profile, it has a slightly different glasshouse. Moving to the back, you see a new roof-mounted spoiler and vertically stacked LED tail-lights.
Interior
The biggest changes, however, are on the inside. The two-door E2O was surprisingly spacious in the back, but that was mainly because you expected it to be super-cramped. The E2O Plus, on the other hand, is properly spacious for its size. You have more than enough legroom in the front and back, and a good amount of headroom too.
While three adults would find the rear a squeeze, two will find it adequately roomy. The seats too, are quite comfortable and offer good support. Boot space, at 135 litres, is not ample, but it is enough for two cabin-luggage-sized bags.
The dashboard is the same as that of the two-door E2O, featuring an Android-based touchscreen infotainment system manufactured by Blaupunkt in the center console, rotary knobs for the air-con, and a digital instrument cluster that displays vehicle speed, shift status, driving efficiency, charge percentage and the distance to empty.
The E2O Plus also gets all-around power windows, electronically adjustable exterior mirrors, and keyless go.
Engine
Under the hood, this electric car is powered by a 210AH lithium-ion battery which offers a range of 140km on a single charge.
It produces max power of 41bhp at 3,500rpm and a max torque of 91Nm at 2,500rpm. It takes about 9 hours to fully charge the battery which is 4 hrs added against that of the E2O. However, with the quick charging support, the battery can charge in 90 mins.
Features
The e20 Plus also comes with cosmetic updates such as revised front and rear bumpers, vertically stacked LED taillights, a redesigned tail section, and an integrated rear spoiler.
The vehicle also comes loaded with other features that include GPS enabled navigation system, on-board computer, a/c, touchscreen infotainment system, keyless system, and all four power windows.
Besides all these features, the distinctive feature of all new E2O Plus is the SOS feature that provides an additional range of 7 to 10 km if the cars’ battery is drained below 10 %. This feature can be activated either by E20 Plus app or simply by a touch of a button from the screen.
