Is electric scooter better than bike?

8th February 2021
"The future is here!"

There has been a long road to two-wheeler technology. We have many choices, including electrical versions that have recently been launched. While it is known that non-carbon fuel is the potential course, the process is not yet entirely scalable. Many home-grown car makers betting on the electric scooter market, as well as the government's opportunity to rapidly follow up their designs. Electric bikes in Nepal are not very popular.

The question of choosing an electric/petrol scooter is undoubtedly on your mind if you're dreaming of buying a new bike. Do you like safer, more ready-to-use technologies or should you hold to the choices that have been tested?

Performance

It is difficult to win against electric motorcycles if performance is what you want.

While petrol motors take a longer time to spin up peak power and torque at high RPMs, motors achieve peak power and torque from 0 RPM. The power and torque in the entire RPM range continue to be constant.

You may say, If you look at the performance of a bike, electric bikes cannot go as fast as petrol bikes in terms of highest but do you really need a 480kmph bike right now?   Electric motorbikes can perform just as well as a petrol bike on a daily basis. This means that you can achieve the same efficiency with a gas bike with a much lighter and smaller electric motorcycle or a larger electric superbike and get pretty cool speed.

Comfort

They are not vibrating like petrol bikes so that your motorbike won't shake when you stop at a red light or when you are riding. You also do not have to care about burning on a hot exhaust header. Even for traffic riding and other city situations, e-motors are comfortable. You can enjoy the ride every three seconds instead of grabbing and going without any clutch or equipment to think about.

The manual gearbox retains several options for the electric motorcycle if you prefer to shift. There are choices for shifting gears in motorcycles from electric cruisers to sports motorcycles.   Electric bikes are quieter than a petrol motorcycle. They are not silent but quieter.

Convenience

Electric motorbikes are simply more convenient. It’s like having a petrol pump in your garage. You charge up all night ride all day. Or you can charge up all day. We can’t really tell you when to charge your own motorbike. You'll like it more when you remember the long line at the petrol pump and you’re in a hurry. But charging is not just the most comfortable for electric bikes. Maintenance savings alone are immense. You would of course finally have to do with tyre replacements and brake pads, but these brakes last longer as electric bikes are regenerative.

So if you're the sort of rider who likes to take time on a bike rather than to turn a screw, you may as well have electric bikes.

Save money

You save money in the long term as you use an E-bike instead of a motor car. Petrol and diesel are expensive and sometimes price changes may have a real effect on your spending. For e-bikes, it is possible to purchase inexpensive batteries that can last 28-80 kilometers, depending on the assistance standard.

Are Electric Bikes the future?

Yes, they are!

Time is going down on charging.   Electric bikes would become even more efficient, with battery costs falling (and petrol rates constantly rising).

But it's just getting hard to deal with petrol bikes at the end of the day. Imagine where we are going to be in a couple of years. There is a justification for everybody working on electric bikes, from Harley Davidson and Triumph to the Big Four Japanese motorcycle makers.
