How To Choose A Smartphone With The Right Processor?

25th December 2020
"Choose the best one!"

What is a Processor?

The processor is a device's "brain" It's what manages software app guidance. Both phones have a certain kind of processor. It can be integrated into the main processor for mobile phones, or it can be a different chip for computers. A stronger and/or quicker processor makes it easier for applications to perform faster.

A processor also bears modules that support the various mobile hardware and software. The camera, Wi-Fi, display, protection, graphics, Bluetooth, access to the network, and many others are included. A high-end processor would then service and sell each of these modules with the latest features available.

How to choose a processor?

On the basis of specifications.

cores-vs-clock-speed

The efficiency of a processor mainly relies on two specifications; the number of cores and the speed of the clock it has to deliver. Based on these two figures, let's explore how to pick one.

A core is a processor component that implements and executes assignments. Today's smartphones come with many cores. Each core is meant to manage tasks and implement them. The more the number of cores, the more and heavier applications it will run at the same time. A number of multi-core processors come from the latest generations of smartphones. Dual-core (two), quad-core (four), and octa-core (eight), with the latter being the most powerful, are the most commonly found. Hexa-core (six) also comes with some processors, but they are pretty rare.

The processors are also distinguished by their clock speeds, as described in Gigahertz (GHz). This also applies to the speeds at which functions can be done by each of the cores. Naturally, the greater the quantity, the better the performance. For multi-core processors, however, you could find multiple GHz numbers, also on some high-end models. That's because most manufacturers are trying to build a balance between productivity and strength. Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, for example, features eight cores, four of which are clocked at 2.8 GHz for peak capacity, and four are clocked at 1.7 GHz for stability and battery consumption.

So, make sure that you not only look at the number of cores when choosing a CPU but also compare clock speeds to get a better understanding.

On the basis of brand and series

brand-processor

Even with all the above details, it can be difficult to pick a processor. After all, quantifying the use and matching it with the number of cores and core velocities (GHz) communicated by the organization is not easy. If that's too confusing for you, then you can simply select a processor based on brands and the chipset sequence that they describe.

There are only a couple of businesses that manufacture mobile processors, two of which you only need to concentrate on Qualcomm and MediaTek. Processors are also manufactured by other corporations such as Apple, Samsung, and Huawei, but they are generally found with their own applications. Qualcomm is more common, mainly because popular OEMs like Samsung, LG, HTC, and Motorola also use their processors. On the other hand, with upcoming products such as Vivo, Oppo, Intex, and Honor, MediaTek has a greater footprint. Any of the other producers could still find them, however.

One of the more prevalent myths is that, based mainly on benchmark ratings, Qualcomm processors are stronger. However, MediaTek processors can be equally strong when it comes to real-world scenarios, especially in budget segments. At much cheaper costs, they concentrate on delivering high-end features. Something that also comes out in the goods that use them.

Both firms have a number of chipsets configured across grades. Qualcomm has 200, 400, 600, and 800 Snapdragons, with performance also focused on the order. There is a range of versions in each series that have been introduced during the last few years. The greater the number of performances in that series, the more recent and strong. Qualcomm recently launched their flagship chip, the Snapdragon 845, which is the best and the fastest performing processor ever. This SoC is most likely to include most of the high-end appliances you'd see this year.

The method used by MediaTek to classify their processors is distinct. Generally, their entry and mid-level versions are coined with 'MT67' accompanied by a number of two digits. The higher the number in the given sequence, the faster the processor is. MediaTek's luxury mid-range deals are called Helio P, going up the ladder, while their high-end ones go to Helio X. In both of these categories, there are various variations. The one with the highest number of models is the most strong.

Of course, not the only justification for having a smartphone is a decent processor, so it still helps to be able to decide which one you need. This helps clean away all the distractions and make an educated choice. Above everything, you know what you really pay for, too.

How to text from your computer with Android Messages

5th October 2020
"Google android messages from web."

Google has the ability to text from the web with Android Messages. The feature gives users a lot more flexibility in choosing how and where they can carry on conversations. As long as your Android smartphone is powered on, you can text from a desktop computer or even other mobile devices — including iOS products like an iPad if you just open up Safari. Aside from text, you can also send emoji, stickers, and images over the web.

Using Android Messages on the web requires using Android Messages as your main texting app on your phone. I like it just fine, and Google is clearly planning big things for the future, but if you prefer, say, Samsung’s default messages app or something else, the two don’t work together.

With that out of the way, getting started and setting things up is fairly simple.

Make sure you’ve got the latest version of Android Messages installed on your phone.

Go to messages.android.com on the computer or other device you want to text from. You’ll see a big QR code on the right side of this page.

Open up Android Messages on your smartphone. Tap the icon with three vertical dots at the top and to the far right. You should see a “Messages for web” option inside this menu.

Tap “QR code scanner” and point your phone’s camera at the QR code on your other device. In less than a second, your phone will vibrate, and the two will be linked up. You should notice your conversations show up in the left column of the browser window. Google says that “conversation threads, contacts, and other settings will be encrypted and cached on your browser.”

Note: this doesn’t mean your actual text conversations are encrypted. They’re not.

And that’s it. To make sure you don’t have to repeat the QR process, you can keep your computer paired with your phone by enabling “Remember this computer.” There will probably be a pop-up asking if you want to enable that the first time you use the web version of Messages. If you missed it, just go to the settings menu, which you can access from the web version of Android Messages by clicking on the three-dot icon to the right of “Messages.” (Of course, you shouldn’t turn this on if you’re using a public PC that other people can easily access.)

REMOVE A COMPUTER’S ACCESS TO YOUR MESSAGES

If you want to revoke a web browser’s access to your conversations and messaging, you can quickly do so from your Android smartphone. Go back to the “Messages for web” area of Android Messages, and you can choose to sign out of individual computers or all of them with a click.

THERE’S A DARK MODE!

Dark themes can be handy if you find that all an app’s whites and light grays might overload your eyeballs at night. If you want to enable the Messages dark theme on mobile, tap the same icon with three vertical dots and looking for “Choose theme.” You can go with light, dark, or the system default.

On the web app, you’ll find “Enable dark theme” in the menu that you get after clicking on the three-dot icon to the right of “Messages.

KEEP YOUR PHONE POWERED ON

Android Messages on the web can’t work independently of your smartphone. So if your battery dies or if your phone shuts off for any reason, you won’t be able to send any texts from your computer.

DRAG MEDIA INTO THE ANDROID MESSAGES CONVERSATION

Sending a photo from Android Messages on the web is dead simple. You can either use the attachments icon — to the right of emoji and stickers — or just drag and drop media into the conversation window to send an MMS.

How to make your android work faster?

10th November 2020
"Make it fast or be last!"

You purchased a brand new handset, and you noticed a few months back that it wasn't as fast as it used to be. We've all been there, you android is running slow or loads slow and the concern is not confined to cheap devices; after many months of use, a few expensive phones are still vulnerable to the occasional slowdown.

And if you want to make your android phone run faster, fortunately, there are a few items you might do to make your phone work at full pace again. We've also mentioned several things you can do to make the most of the battery on your cell.

Ensure that you're up to date

up-to-date

There will also be bug fixes and general changes in the new software and that will allow the Android to work smoother. App updates appear to come from Over The Air and you should be notified to install them immediately, but testing doesn't hurt.

Go to Settings > About device > Software update and check for updates.

For games, the same principle holds, so fire up the Play Store, open the top-left menu, and select My apps to make certain that all the apps you use are up-to-date.

Clear Cached data

clear-cache

Cached app data can make them load quicker, but it will stack up over time and take up quite a lot of space and with applications that you no longer need, there might be cached data in there. Clearing cached data for an app will also help to clean up flaky behavior.

If you choose to choose individual applications, go to Settings > Apps and press the All tab, tap the appropriate program, then select Clear cache. If you have chosen to clear the whole lot, go to Settings > Storage and tap Cached Data, then tap OK.

Download models of applications that are lightweight

Lite-apps

Using a poorly-optimized app will cause a lot of irritation if you are using a phone with minimal memory and storage. The best example of this is Facebook, as the app continues to feel slow even on brand-new phones.

Facebook has a simplified version of the app that performs almost as well by making use of a fraction of the full-fledged app's power. Originally, Facebook Lite was designed to operate in developing markets on entry-level smartphones, but the software is available worldwide. Likewise, there are a lot of such apps that might be heavy originally that eat up your space but the lite one would work just fine.

Clean your home screen and reduce animation

clean-home-screen

You should try to reduce animation on your phone and keep it at its best performance rather than the best appearance. Consider substituting it with a nice static picture if you want to use live wallpaper.  Some unused icons can also be swept away and the widgets reduced to the basics. The less crowded your home screen the better it works. By reducing or shutting off any animations, you can make the Android device feel more snappy.

Switch off or reduce auto-sync

auto-sync

Most of us end up connecting to our Android devices a list of different accounts and we encourage them to sync in the background automatically to take in new data and provide us with updates. All this synchronization, not to mention battery life, has a huge effect on efficiency.

Under Accounts, you could go to Settings and find Auto-sync and just turn it off entirely, but most users would find it too dramatic. Instead, why not just reduce the frequency of the sync and delete any accounts that you really don't need? You'll need to open the app to find the settings to minimize the sync frequency for a number of users.

Conduct a factory reset

 factory-data-reset

This is a drastic measure, but if you want your system running in tip-top shape, some people suggest that you regularly do a factory reset. It's a shortcut for your computer to clean up and get rid of any garbage you've collected, but it means deleting all the settings and data. Then make sure you back up anything that's important to you first if you plan to do it. In Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset, you can find the option to do so.

Get a custom ROM built

custoom-ROM

Rooting does not immediately bring any performance enhancements to your Android smartphone, but a custom ROM can. Custom ROMs are a means of providing a newer version of Android for certain smartphones that are not updated anymore. You will also find custom ROMs that fully dispense with bloatware and offer some unique modifications and tweaks. To find the best custom ROM for you, you'll need to do some analysis.

Coca Cola and the story behind how the modern Santa Claus came into being

21st December 2020
"What many do not know is that the modern-day Santa Claus is a very recent invention by one of the largest conglomerates in the world."

During the month of December, a white-bearded man dressed in a red coat with a white fur collar and cuffs carrying a bag over his shoulders has been quite a common sight to see in Nepal, especially since the past decade. They seem to be almost everywhere this time of the year, from the malls, the superstores, and the roads of New Road.  It’s always good to see these men jolly in the red and white costumes, singing songs, waving their hands to pedestrians, and wishing a wonderful Christmas to everyone they see.

Prior to 1931, Santa Claus had a very different look to what we know and love now. Back then, Santa was depicted as everything from a tall gaunt man to a spooky-looking elf. A Civil War cartoonist Thomas Nast drew Santa Claus Harper's Weekly in 1862 as a small elf-like figure who supported the union. Nast, later on, continued to draw Santa for 30 years, changing the color of his coat from tan to the red he’s known for today.

coca-cola and santa

89 years ago, thanks to one man's imagination and artistic touch, the contemporary vision of Santa Claus as a jolly-looking gentleman with a white beard was born. Created by Swedish-American artist Haddon Sundblom for a long-running series of holiday advertisements for Coca-Cola, today's cherished version of Santa Claus is at once recognizable around the world as an emblem of the holiday season.

The Coca-Cola version of Santa was first introduced in 1931, created by a Swedish-American artist Haddon Sundblom, appearing in a series of print ads in - The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies Home Journal, National Geographic, and other U.S. publications. The captivating images struck a chord with the public, which almost instantly adopted the lovable personification as an enduring symbol of Christmas. Over the next few decades, the artist's depictions of Saint Nicholas evolved into the picture-perfect look of "Father Christmas" - the man in the red and white suit with the big brass belt buckle.

From 1931 to 1964, Coca-Cola advertising showed Santa delivering toys (and playing with them!), pausing to read a letter and enjoy a Coke, visiting with the children who stayed up to greet him, and raiding the refrigerators at a number of homes.
Another fun fact is that the Coca-Cola Santa was based on a salesman. Sundblom initially modeled Santa's smiling face after the cheerful, somewhat wrinkled features of a friendly retired salesman Lou Prentiss. When Prentiss passed away, Sundblom used himself as a model, painting while looking into a mirror. Finally, he began relying on photographs to create the image of St. Nick.

The Coca-Cola Santa image was so loved by people that they started paying very close attention to details of him and when anything changed, they sent letters to The Coca-Cola Company. Once when Santa’s belt was backward and the other when Santa Claus appeared without a wedding ring, causing fans to write asking what happened to Mrs. Claus.

Santa Claus got a new friend in 1942 named “Sprite Boy," a character who appeared with Santa Claus in Coca-Cola advertising throughout the 1940s and 1950s. Sprite Boy, who was also created by Sundblom, got his name due to the fact that he was a sprite or an elf. (It wasn’t until the 1960s that Coca-Cola introduced the popular beverage Sprite.)

Sundblom created his final version of Santa Claus in 1964, but for several decades to follow, Coca-Cola advertising featured images of Santa based on Sundblom’s original works. These paintings are some of the most prized pieces in the art collection in the company’s archives department and have been on exhibit around the world, infamous locales including the Louvre in Paris, the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, the Isetan Department Store in Tokyo, and the NK Department Store in Stockholm. Many of the original paintings can be seen on display at World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta, Ga.

In 2001, the artwork from Sundblom's 1963 painting was the basis for an animated TV commercial starring the Coca-Cola Santa. The ad was created by Academy Award-winning animator Alexandre Petrov.Coca-Cola definitely did not create the legend of Santa Claus. But Coca-Cola advertising did play a big role in shaping the jolly character that we know of today.
