The government has prohibited the importing of 10 different categories of goods into Nepal.

According to information released by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, the following consumer goods are prohibited from entering Nepal until mid-July 2022.

1. Kurkure, Kurmure, Lays, and other goods of a similar type.

2. All types of ready-to-drink alcohol

3. Tobacco and cigarette goods (except raw materials)

4. Diamonds (exemption for import of industrial raw materials)

5. Mobile sets costing more than $600

6. Color television (over 32 inches)

7. Jeeps, Cars, and Vans (Except for Ambulance and Hearse)

8. Motorcycles having a displacement greater than 250 cc

9. Various types of toys

10. Playing Cards

The restriction would also not apply to diplomats, according to the government. Similarly, anyone who completed the banking process prior to April 13th will be relatively free from the restriction.

Furthermore, the following items are not forbidden from importation:

1. A motorbike with a capacity of less than 250cc.

2. Also, All kinds of Motorcycles with all displacements are not prohibited for local assembly in Nepal.

3. Cosmetic Products

4. Household Appliances

5. Passenger electric vehicle

6. Commercial Vehicles

7. Spare parts

8. Biscuits, chocolates, and other similar items

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has launched a mobile app today. The mobile app was launched during a virtual event by Deputy Governor of the central bank Neelam Dhungana Timsina.

Service seekers can avail of regular notices, information, foreign currency exchange rates, research studies, and various data that are available on the central bank’s website on the mobile app.

Nepal Rastra Bank has said it believes the mobile app that was launched today will be of great help to both stakeholders and the general public in availing any information or data related to the central bank.

The app at present is available in the ‘Beta’ version. NRB has said the functions of the app will be further enhanced based on the feedback and suggestions provided by users. Currently, the app can be downloaded on mobile phones that run on the Android operating system.

The app will be made available for mobile phones operating on the iOS operating system soon, the bank informed.
