Overcome Distractions When It’s Time To Study | Tips |

You know how distracting a smartphone can be if you own one. You have access to Facebook, Twitter, email, text messaging, and, yes, the entire Internet. You put your phone on the table and resume reading your notes.

You experience the sudden, overwhelming impulse to check your Facebook newsfeed 10 minutes later. So there are simple techniques you can use to win the war against distractions.

Silent mode

You put your phone on silent mode and position it far away from you at the start of your study session.

It's best if you put it on the opposite side of the room. You won't be disturbed by phone calls or text messages while studying this way. When you take a break, you can always check your phone every 30 or 45 minutes.

Turn off your Internet access

You may intend to use your computer for study, but you might quickly become distracted and end up on Facebook or YouTube. The World Wide Web is practically a click away while you're on your computer. Before you begin your study session, turn off your Internet connection.

If you need to use particular web resources, download all of the essential material before turning off your Internet access at the start of your session.

Get enough Sleep

The most common thing a student does before going to bed and the first thing he sees in the morning is his smartphone. Try to keep your smartphone away as much as possible and get enough sleep.

Also, it seems nearly difficult to get adequate sleep as a student. If you want to do well in school, you must get enough sleep.

Sleep affects your memory, concentration, and brain function, according to scientific evidence. You're not setting yourself up for success in your academic life if you're not getting adequate sleep.

Take a deep breath

Waves of distractions wash over you. They want to watch television, clean your room and check your phone strikes unexpectedly, and it might be overwhelming.

However, these strong desires only last a short time. You'll be able to continue studying instead of falling into temptation if you can resist the initial wave.

Close your eyes for a moment. Inhale for two seconds and then exhale for two seconds. If the need remains, repeat the process until it disappears.

Addiction to smartphones is a serious issue! We check our mobile phones incessantly when conversing, working, walking, and driving, even though we know we shouldn't.

We just can't help ourselves! So, here are some ideas to assist you to break free from your phone addiction:

Don’t use your phone in bed

Making your bed a phone-free zone is the first step in breaking your smartphone addiction.

Don't let your phone be the last thing you see before going to bed and the first thing you check in the morning.

If you use a conventional alarm clock and charge your phone out of reach you will not be waking up with loads of messages and notifications.

Moreover, blue light disrupts your sleep hormones.

Delete unnecessary apps

In any case, the majority of the apps on your phone are probably simply cluttered.

Keep the applications you want to encourage yourself to use front and center, such as those for reading or learning a new language, but move anything you want to restrict your time with to folders on your second page of apps (or if you have an Android phone, off the screen entirely).

Consider how much more productive you'd be if you weren't constantly checking Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Keep yourself on a schedule

The first thing you can do is set alerts that define how frequently you may check your phone. Begin with every 15 minutes, then every half hour, every 45 minutes, and finally every hour.

When your alarm goes off, take one minute to look through all alerts and then reset the timer.

Have a phone-free day once a week

Do something out of the ordinary once a week, such as leaving your phone at home. For a whole day (or even half a day if you're just starting out).

Step outdoors! Then return later on to catch up on all of the emails and texts you missed.

Turn off notifications

Notification is the major reason we open our mobile every now and then. There's no reason to check your phone if you don't have any notifications.

Turning off push notifications for as many applications as possible is an extremely simple technique to reduce distractions.

To change your notification settings, go to Settings > Notifications.

We simply need to be more deliberate in our use of them and recognize how we get misdirected.

Here's how to manage your phone so that you can stay productive and focused while on the go.

Control your notifications

When they fit into your schedule, mobile push alerts can be handy. However, they frequently function only to obstruct and divert your attention away from your task.

To keep notifications productive, you must select what to allow in and when.

Get to know your applications' alerts and tailor them - whether that means setting them to certain "availability hours" when you prefer to respond to emails and messages limiting their frequency or blocking them entirely.

Google Drive

For cloud-based collaboration, most of us use Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides, so downloading Drive to stay productive on the go makes sense. You can add or respond to comments, use 'Explore' to undertake research right in Docs, and open Word documents.

The software will also save even if you are not connected to the internet, which is excellent for those "tunnel" wifi dead patches.

Consider implementing the same thing with your most important work tools — access, usability, and interactivity are usually significantly superior to utilizing a work tool in your mobile browser.

Make use of ‘Do Not Disturb’
