Nissan Magnite production surpasses 42,000 mark; SUV exported to 15 countries

Nissan Magnite has managed to carry the weight of expectations from Nissan in India for some time now, since its launch in December of 2020. Launched as the most-affordable sub-compact SUV at the time, Nissan has received around 78,000 cumulative customer bookings so far and has informed that the model is being exported to 15 countries from the production facility in Chennai, and that 42,000 units have been made so far.

Magnite was the first global product to launch under the Nissan NEXT transformation plan, shifting the company’s focus towards high-demand products that deliver lasting value to the business and to customers.

Following the successful introduction of Magnite in South Africa and Indonesia last year, the award-winning car is now also available to customers in Nepal; Bhutan; Bangladesh; Sri Lanka; Brunei; Uganda; Kenya; Seychelles; Mozambique; Zambia; Mauritius, Tanzania and Malawi.

Nissan chairperson for the Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania region, Guillaume Cartier said: “Magnite is an exceptional car and a fantastic showcase for Nissan design and engineering, as well as the strength and expertise of Indian manufacturing.

The Nissan Magnite has already won a number of high-profile automotive awards in India, including from BBC Top Gear India, Car & Bike and Autocar India, and was recently named The Race Monkey Car of the Year 2021.

Nissan Magnite competes in the hot sub-compact SUV segment which also has the likes of Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger, among others.

The sub-compact SUV will be available in four trims – XE (Base), XL (Mid), XV (Upper), and the XV (Premium) in a total of 11 variants.

Nissan LEAF launched in Nepal at a special introductory price of NPR 62.99 lakh

On the occasion of World EV Day, Nissan organised a virtual session for Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka markets on making electric mobility more accessible in South Asian markets to create a more sustainable green future. 

The availability of an abundant amount of hydropower in Nepal and Bhutan have made both countries a very strong case for EVs, both environmentally and economically. With Nissan’s mission to deliver the right mobility solutions for as many people as possible, the societal and economic benefits of driving more sustainability in South Asian countries could not be understated.

In line with the Nepalese government’s forward-thinking policies on carbon neutrality and support towards electric mobility, Nissan was recently able to launch the zero-emission Nissan LEAF EV in Nepal at a special introductory price of NPR 62.99 lakh to the first 50 customers.

Globally, Nissan LEAF vehicles have driven more than 2.5bn cumulative kilometres since their launch in 2010, resulting in a total amount of real-world usage data: of 1.2m tons of CO2 reduction saved (the equivalent approx. 90m trees).

Charging the Nissan LEAF is easy and convenient as owners are provided with multiple charging options. The Nissan LEAF can be fully powered up in 15 to 18 hours at home through a dedicated wall outlet with the supplied universal charging cable. Owners can also go to quick charging stations found in select Nissan dealerships nationwide and power up their Nissan LEAF to a full charge in as fast as 40 to 60 minutes.

Nissan announces all-new electric compact car, set to replace iconic Micra

The upcoming Nissan EV is expected to come carrying some design elements from Micra.

Nissan aims to replace its iconic compact car Micra with an all-new compact electric car.

The automaker on Thursday has announced that the upcoming electric car based on the CMF B-EV architecture and initially will be introduced in the European markets.

This comes as part of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance's Alliance 2030 strategy.

Nissan claims that the CMF B-EV architecture enables the company to maintain unique styling.

The upcoming electric car that gets sloping round-shaped LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights in ring form.

Expect this EV to come in form of a hatchback with a nicely curved roofline a sloping hood, as the teaser image shows.

Speaking about this upcoming electric car, Nissan's Chief Operating Officer Ashwani Gupta said that the all-new model will be designed by Nissan and it will be engineered and manufactured by Renault.

This all-new model will be designed by Nissan and engineered and manufactured by Renault using our new common platform, maximizing the use of our Alliance assets while maintaining its Nissan-ness," said Nissan COO.

He also said that this is a great example of the Alliance’s ‘smart differentiation’ approach. "Succeeding our iconic Micra, I am sure this new model will provide further excitement to our customers in Europe," Gupta further added.

As part of its Alliance 2030 strategy, the automobile alliance has promised to launch 30 electric vehicles that will be based on five different EV platforms.

These five EV platforms are expected to be used for 90 percent of the electric cars the alliance will produce by 2030.
