Cleaning tips for taking care of your Makeup brushes

18th October 2020
"Keep the makeup brushes clean in order to prevent your skin from acne and breakouts."

Bacterial infections are likely to grow and contaminate our skin if we do not take care of the brushes and sponges we use often as part of our makeup routine. Did you know, for instance, that dirty brushes can induce acne, close pores, and accumulate contaminants on the skin?

So, here are a few tips for managing to safely use your beauty products.

With brushes

Makeup brushes collect millions of germs that can get dirty and infect the skin. That is why keeping them as smooth as possible is so crucial. Furthermore, with the same brush, you would not end up with a combination of colours. Ideally, after using them, you can clean them. If you do not have much time, at least every other week, do not forget to clean them.

Depending on their attributes, makeup brushes should not be washed in the same way:

Natural hair brushes: primarily for powder coatings

With soapy water, rinse them and let them dry. When they are still damp, be careful not to put them in a vertical position, as their wooden wand might get broken. Once a month, you should also add a conditioner to your brushes, so that they stay flexible and smooth.

Brushes made from synthetic hair: for oleaginous items in particular

Wash it with such a solvent that is non-alcoholic. There are several leave-on cleaning methods, for instance, that can be added straight to your brush with a soft cloth.

Makeup sponges

Single-use sponges are the most hygienic. However, if you would rather use reusable sponges, do not forget to disinfect them with a bit of washing-up liquid and a drop of disinfecting alcohol. You can also clean them with baby lotion or micellar water. Leave the sponge to dry before putting it away or using it again.

Brushes for lipsticks and foundation

For those of you that apply lipstick with a brush, it is important to keep it clean. To disinfect it, use a damp cloth soaked with alcohol to give it a boost of radiance. No need to clean it too often: once a month should do.

Makeup bags

They contain all your most precious treasures, but they are often neglected when it comes to cleaning, while in fact, germs and bacteria contaminate your accessories every day. To solve this problem, clean yours completely on a regular basis (every 2 to 3 months) or just put it in the washing machine. In the meantime, refresh it with a face wipe.

AC cleaning guide: How to clean your Air Conditioner by yourself

21st April 2020
"How you can clean your AC by yourself during the lockdown. Just follow a few simple steps."

The government announced lockdown all the people are not supposed to step out from their houses and with everything being brought to a standstill, it is hard to find a service technician to repair your electronic items including the air conditioners.

It’s recommended to clean the AC before you put it to use this summer. We are sharing a few steps to how to clean AC filters to be summer-ready.

Guide to clean your AC air conditioner

The first step to clean your AC is to switch off its power supply and open the AC panel.

Now proceed to remove the AC filter.

If your unit has more than one filter, remove them one by one.

Take a toothbrush and gently clean the evaporator to remove any dirt.

You should be extra cautious while doing this as the sharp fins of the evaporator coil could cut your skin.
After using the toothbrush, take a clean cloth and remove the dust from the AC.
To clean the filters, put them under a water tap and clean thoroughly.

Let the filters dry and place them back.

Shut the AC panel.

Now, turn the AC on and that’s it.

Cleaning the outdoor unit is a bit difficult. First of all, you need to turn off the fuse that controls the air conditioner and vacuum the condenser fins on the top of the air conditioner. After this, use a soft-bristled vacuum cleaner to remove any dust or debris that may inhibit air-flow.

If you want to deep clean the external unit, unscrew the top grill and remove the fan without disturbing the electrical connections. Use a damp cloth to wipe any dust or debris from the fan. Spray the inside of the empty air conditioner unit with moderate pressure from a water hose and put it all back. Leave the unit to dry before starting it again.

How to choose the right sunscreen?

13th October 2020
"Live, laugh, WEAR SUNSCREEN!"

Regardless of your skin type, it's important to shield your skin from the sun. It's not up for discussion why we ought to wear sunscreen. But it's not easy to choose the right sunscreen. There's an explanation of why people despise things;   being chalky, greasy, and just all-around annoying.

But what kind of sunscreen to use? That might be a question that's been ringing in your head! But don't you worry. We are right here! Here, we have compiled a list of 4 tips to make your sunscreen use better and productive, and certainly less annoying.

Broad Spectrum

Choose a sunscreen covered by a "broad spectrum." Sunscreens guard against all UVA and UVB rays with this mark. Both sunscreen materials guard against UVB radiation, the major source of skin cancers, and sunburn. UVA rays do, however, often lead to skin cancer and premature aging. It is possible to mark a "broad spectrum" for products that pass a certain test. Products that are not broad spectrum must be warned that they only protect against sunburn, not skin cancer or skin aging.

Sun Protection Factor

spf

SPF is a measure of how much UVB light can filter out from a sunscreen. An SPF of at least 30 is recommended by dermatologists. About 93 percent of UVB rays are blocked by SPF 15, while about 97 percent of UVB rays are blocked by SPF 30. An SPF of 30 or higher is recommended by the ADA. Applying adequate sunscreen to every exposed area of skin every day is necessary. We recommend putting a coat of SPF 30 all over the body for a half hour before leaving home on days you will be outdoors for a long period of time and then reasserting every two hours. It's smart to grab your sunscreen any time you get out of the pool while you're swimming.

Skin Type

skin-type

Make sure that your sunscreen is labeled as 'non-comedogenic' if you have acne or oily skin, which means that it's been shown not to block pores. Look for sunscreen or sunscreen moisturizers that contain hydrating ingredients if you have dry skin.

Choose physical or mineral sunscreen for delicate skin. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are physical sunscreen features that shield the skin; these two components will not hurt or sting the eyes. Sitting on top of the skin, they form a shield that will protect you.

Water Resistance

water-resistant

After a certain time (either 40 or 80 minutes) in water or when sweating, 'Water-Resistant Sunscreens' maintain their specified SPF strength. If the sunscreen still covers the SPF written on the label after submersion into the hot bubbling water, then the sunscreen will make a water-resistant argument. So check your sunscreen if it works for 40 minutes or 80 minutes before going out in sun, or swimming.

Just because a sunscreen is called 'water-resistant: 40 minutes' does not indicate that for 40 minutes you can just sit in the water. It basically means that you may begin to see a decrease in SPF safety after 40 minutes in the pool, and you may need to reapply sunscreen to retain its original SPF value.

How to choose a face exfoliator?

17th October 2020
"Exfoliate to get that dirt out of your pores!"

Naturally, our skin lets go of dead skin cells but continue to leave few mates behind, leading to clogged pores and rough skin. Huh.   Using a facial exfoliator is a perfect way to get rid of the extra dead skin and give yourself a glow-up if your complexion can use some WBC.

But how do you pick the one that's right?

For exfoliation, there are numerous approaches. What procedure you use and how much you exfoliate can be determined by your skin type.

Methods for exfoliation

There are numerous skin exfoliation strategies and equipment. Mechanical exfoliation styles are facial scrubs and brushes. Chemical exfoliation styles are acids and skin peels.

Chemical Exfoliator

chemical-exfoliator

With the application of chemicals to help in cell turnover, chemical exfoliants extract dead skin cells. Peels are chemical exfoliants that are useful not only for smoothing but for brightening as well.

Alpha-hydroxy acids:

  • Made from natural ingredients and, since they extract the "glue" that binds dead skin cells together, are suitable for exfoliating dry skin. Gross, yes, but the payoff is cleaner skin.
  • Can not penetrate very deep into the pores because they are water-soluble.

Beta-hydroxy acids:

  • Oil Soluble by comparison
  • Can penetrate very deep into the pores because they are water-soluble.
  • Have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects, usually a more profound exfoliation.
  • For those with dry, acne-prone skin

Physical Exfoliator

Exfoliation by the use of small seeds, a brush, or a scalpel is very easy. But not all physical exfoliants are equally made. Peep the list of ingredients in the average drugstore scrub to guarantee that none of the exfoliating agents are too high. Scrubs do operate, the doctor claims, so they need to be carefully handled. And they aren't as powerful or as soft as chemical exfoliation, considering what some people say.

Exfoliation by skin type

Normal skin

normal-skin

You can use any form of exfoliation if your skin doesn't have any issues. For this skin type, manual and chemical exfoliation both are effective. To figure out which approach fits better on your skin, you might have to try.

Oily skin

oily-skin

Manual exfoliation and brushing may take advantage of oily or darker skin. Oily skin can have an additional layer of buildup on the surface that can be removed by manual exfoliation. Just use an exfoliator or scrub lightly for the maximum performance in circular gestures.

Dry skin

dry-skin

For dry or brittle skin, exfoliation is essential. Stop mechanical exfoliation on dry skin due to the drying process, which can lead to micro-tears. For dry skin, AHAs are efficient.

Glycolic acid can help to eliminate dead skin resting on the skin surface and facilitate proper regeneration of the skin. By using glycolic acid, follow it up with an SPF and moisturizer. It will make the skin more vulnerable to exposure from the sun.

Sensitive skin

Stop scrubbing by using mechanical exfoliation processes. These can further irritate the skin and can contribute to redness. Apply with a soft wet cloth using a mild chemical exfoliator. You should even try the salicylic acid rinse at the office of your dermatologist for acne.

Combination skin

Mixed skin can involve a combination of chemical and mechanical exfoliation. Never do both on the same day as the skin can become irritated. And use a moisturizer right after exfoliation if the skin feels dry after exfoliation.

How much do you exfoliate?

The amount of exfoliation depends on the condition of the skin and the condition of exfoliation you use. Some chemical exfoliants can, for example, be solid. Generally speaking, exfoliating skin one to two days a week is appropriate for dry skin to be successful.

More regular exfoliation can involve oily skin. As it can lead to redness and inflammation, prevent over-exfoliating. If you need guidance finding out how much it's appropriate for some of you to exfoliate, talk to a dermatologist.
