What's the differences between loose powder and pressed powder? Which one suits you?
"Choosing one among these is up to you!"
Loose powder or pressed powder? You might be wondering whats the major difference between these except for the fact that one comes loosely packed in a container while the other comes in a brick form. Well, there's more to this powder than this. Choosing amongst these must highly depend on your skin type as not every product suits every face. Let's get to know the difference between these products.
Loose powder
Mostly, the purpose of loose powder is to set your makeup to be its foundation, bb cream, or concealer. So, you cannot use it alone. It ensures that the makeup stays as it is and won't rub off. It is used for baking your foundation. Loose powder is also used to help define contour lines and give your cheekbones a perfect lift. Loose powders have finer particles and have less oil- so, it's best for oily skin. After applying, you need to brush away excess powder from your skin to prevent an extra cakey and powdery look.
However, if you are someone who needs to dab on the powder again and again throughout the day, then the loose powder is not the one for you. With all the mess it creates, it's best to apply it in the house and let it sit there rather than carrying it around with you.
Pressed powder
Pressed powders are primarily used to set the foundation and ensure that your foundation or concealer doesn't move. One can use it without any makeup on. Pressed powders can also be formed into foundations and used as a base for your entire makeup routine, or added to liquid foundation to build up coverage. The pressed powder has oils in it as a result it's best for dry skin.
And, if applied on oily skin, it may give some cakey look. A little goes a long way with pressed powder, and you’ll achieve the best results by pressing the powder into your skin. As it is compact, it can be carried around easily and also can be reapplied without causing any mess.
As the particles of pressed powder are relatively bigger, it will give your face a cakey look if you over-apply it. Also, make sure to keep the consistency equal all over the skin.
