Foxconn Technology Group, the Taiwanese manufacturing affiliate of Apple, is setting up a car firm, reinforcing its automotive capabilities at a time when technology firms, including its California ally, are looking to grow vehicles.

According to a statement from the companies on Wednesday, Foxconn is joining forces with Chinese carmaker Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to provide global automotive companies with manufacturing and consulting services. 

Foxconn has been steadily bulking up its automotive muscles despite news of Apple considering producing its own electric vehicles. Such moves may help the company become a strong player for its largest customer to produce cars.

An Apple car will rival Tesla's hybrid cars and carmakers' offerings such as Daimler and Volkswagen.Apple will take at least half a decade to deliver an autonomous electric vehicle with development work still at an early stage. That indicates that the company is in no rush to settle on possible partners in the auto industry.

Hyundai Motor backed off a statement last week confirming that it is in talks with Apple, saying that possible partners for the production of autonomous electric vehicles have approached it. 

In October, Foxconn, whose main arm is Hon Hai Precision Industry, introduced its first ever EV chassis and software platform to help car manufacturers bring models to the market more quickly.

In April, it aims to launch its first development package, with Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu saying EV-related company would be "very good" in the first half. Meanwhile, Foxconn's main subsidiary, Foxconn Technology, is allegedly expanding a plant to produce metal parts for automobiles.

An Apple car will compete with Tesla's electric vehicles and products from companies like upstart Lucid Motors and existing producers like Daimler and Volkswagen. It can cost billions of dollars and take years to set up a car factory, perhaps the reason Apple talks to potential manufacturing partners.

Instead of its own vehicle, Apple continued to explore developing its self-driving car system with a third-party car partner, the familiar individuals said, and the company could ultimately abandon its own car efforts in favor of this strategy.

Apple has launched the iPhone SE, a new low-cost iPhone in 2020. The new iPhone will help address the premium mid-range smartphone segment, something Apple has been eyeing for quite some time. The announcement of the new iPhone comes at a time when the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has disrupted the global supply chain. Interestingly, Apple has made the new iPhone SE official just a day after OnePlus launched its OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones.

“The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way — including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos — while still being very affordable,” Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement.

The new iPhone SE succeeds the original iPhone SE, which was launched in 2016. That phone had a 4-inch screen and had a design similar to the iPhone 5.

iPhone SE 2020 specifications, features

The iPhone SE looks a lot like the iPhone 8. The handset has a 4.7-inch Retina screen with True Tone and comes with 64GB or 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The affordable iPhone is powered by an A13 chipset, the same chip currently powers the iPhone 11, and the old Home button, known as Touch ID, instead of Face ID.

The device has a single 12MP f/1.8 aperture wide camera sensor that supports portrait mode and 4K video recording at up to 60 fps. The front-facing selfie camera is 7MP, plus it also features portrait mode.

A single rear camera, the iPhone SE (2020) offers a Portrait mode, using computational photography enabled by the Neural Engine on the Apple A13 Bionic SoC. For selfies and video chat, there is a 7-megapixel camera at the front, with an f/2.2 aperture.

The iPhone SE (2020) include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Lightning port. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. Built using aerospace-grade aluminium and durable glass, it measures 138.4x67.3x7.3mm and weighs 148 grams. It also features an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, up to 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes.

iPhone SE 2020 Price and availability

The US pricing of the new iPhone SE 2020 starts at $399 for the 64GB model, going up to $499  for 128GB model, and $549  for the 256GB model. The iPhone SE 2020 comes in Black, White, and RED colour options. Pre-orders begin from 5pm PDT on Friday, April 17, and it will go on sale from Friday, April 24 in the US.

Camera

iPhone is always famous for its great camera and its features. Yet again, the new iPhone 12 series has made some upgrades in the cameras. iPhone 12

The features of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are pretty much the same. iPhone 12 Pro

The smartphones in the iPhone 12 series have a lot in common including the powerful processor, 5G connectivity, and the build. iPhone 12 Pro is built with stainless steel, a ceramic shield at the front, and textured matte glass at the back. Alike the other models, the iPhone 12 Pro is also water/dust/splash resistant. 

The iPhone 12 Pro, like the iPhone 12, flaunts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 2532x1170 pixels. 

As for the camera, Apple claims the iPhone 12 Pro series to be the phone with cameras for professionals that also support high-quality video recording suitable even to shoot the movie scenes. The iPhone 12 Pro has a triple camera setup LiDAR sensor at the rear. The setup comprises of a 12MP primary sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 12MP Telephoto sensor. As for the TruDepth front camera, it has the same 12MP single shooter as the iPhone 12 and 12 mini. 

Moving on to the hardware of the iPhone 12 Pro, it has a 6GB RAM and storage options of 128GB, 256GB, and an added storage option of 512GB. The same Apple A14 Bionic chipset is available in the iPhone 12 Pro. While the charging method and MagSafe charging remain the same, the battery capacity is relatively higher.

iPhone 12 Pro Max

iPhone 12 Pro Max is the biggest iPhone to date. Its display is 0.2 inches bigger than the 6.5 inches iPhone 11 Pro max. Despite being a successor to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, the phone shares more common features with the other smartphones in the iPhone 12 series from the design and processor to the 5G connectivity.

iPhone 12 Pro Max shares common features with the iPhone 12 Pro including the build, processor, camera, camera setup, software, hardware, and almost everything else.

iPhone 12 Pro Max has a similar build to other models in the iPhone 12 series. However, the major difference is that it has a huge Super Retina XDR OLED display of 6.7 inches along with a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels. As it is the largest phone in the series, its weight is also relatively higher than others in the series. The battery size is also bigger.

At present, the price of the iPhone 12 series is quite ambiguous and we are not sure exactly when will it enter the Nepalese market; but, one thing is certain that it will surely enter. 

The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will be in Pre-order starting from October 16, 2020. On October 23rd, 2020 these two phones will be available to buy. In the case of iPhone 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max, they will be in Pre-order starting November 6, 2020, and go on shipping starting from November 13, 2020.
