NADA's Response to the Government's proposal to Implement Euro 6

24th January 2022
"The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) has responded positively to the government's proposal to implement vehicle pollution standard Euro 6 in Nepal."

The NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA) has responded positively to the government's proposal to implement vehicle pollution standard Euro 6 in Nepal.

Chairman Dhrub Thapa made the remarks at a press conference organized by NADA.

Chairman Dhruv Thapa said that businessmen are now ready to go to Euro 4, but it is not possible to go directly to Euro 6. He says it is not practical to move from Euro 3 to Euro 6 at once.

The difficulties in Nepal are due to a lack of technology adoption, cost, and infrastructural availability. In the current circumstances, the price of a commercial vehicle would rise by around 40% if the government adopted Euro 6 or equivalent requirements.

NADA has asked the government to phase it is because the country lacks enough infrastructure and competent technical staff.

According to NADA, if Euro 6 or related standards are used, it will be impossible to simplify the maintenance network.

NADA also stated that local garage owners should be provided proper training and that the implementation should take at least two years.
