Mistakes to Avoid While Applying Hair Conditioner
"A conditioner does for hair what a moisturizer does for your skin."
A conditioner does for hair what a moisturizer does for your skin. It moisturizes and protects your hair from damage of all types.
However, you should be aware that even the greatest quality product will not work if you do not use it correctly.
So, here are some errors to avoid when treating your hair with conditioner:
Too much (or too little) product
Too much product does not imply better outcomes. Instead, it will weigh down your hair and make it tough to remove the conditioner. Not to mention the waste product. It's sufficient to apply a small coating of high-quality product to your hair.
Applying too much, on the other hand, might result in product build-up and make your hair seem greasy. The amount you need to apply is determined by the length and thickness of your hair.
Not using the right conditioner
Depending on your needs, look for a combination of silicones to smooth the strands, amino acids to strengthen the hair, provitamins or panthenol to moisturize, and mineral oil or petrolatum to protect. The product's efficiency can be increased by using it correctly.
It's best to use conditioner where it's needed rather than slathering it all over your head. Concentrate on the hair tips that are extremely dry, and avoid massaging the product into your scalp.
Using it on the roots
The most common error is to apply conditioner to the roots. Because the scalp generates natural sebum to nurture the roots, putting conditioner on the scalp would further make the roots overly oily and dry.
The thought of massaging the creamy conditioner through the roots is tempting, but it should preferably be used only on hair strands. Smear a coin-sized quantity of conditioner on your fingers and work it through your hair from the center to the tips.
Not keeping it on for long enough
It is critical to massage the mask into the hair and allow it to dissolve. So it won't work if you just dab it on and rinse it off like a shampoo.
Apply deep conditioning masks in parts and leave them on for at least 10 to 30 minutes while wearing a shower cap. This will leave your hair moisturized and shiny.
