How to make your android work faster?

10th November 2020
"Make it fast or be last!"

You purchased a brand new handset, and you noticed a few months back that it wasn't as fast as it used to be. We've all been there, you android is running slow or loads slow and the concern is not confined to cheap devices; after many months of use, a few expensive phones are still vulnerable to the occasional slowdown.

And if you want to make your android phone run faster, fortunately, there are a few items you might do to make your phone work at full pace again. We've also mentioned several things you can do to make the most of the battery on your cell.

Ensure that you're up to date

up-to-date

There will also be bug fixes and general changes in the new software and that will allow the Android to work smoother. App updates appear to come from Over The Air and you should be notified to install them immediately, but testing doesn't hurt.

Go to Settings > About device > Software update and check for updates.

For games, the same principle holds, so fire up the Play Store, open the top-left menu, and select My apps to make certain that all the apps you use are up-to-date.

Clear Cached data

clear-cache

Cached app data can make them load quicker, but it will stack up over time and take up quite a lot of space and with applications that you no longer need, there might be cached data in there. Clearing cached data for an app will also help to clean up flaky behavior.

If you choose to choose individual applications, go to Settings > Apps and press the All tab, tap the appropriate program, then select Clear cache. If you have chosen to clear the whole lot, go to Settings > Storage and tap Cached Data, then tap OK.

Download models of applications that are lightweight

Lite-apps

Using a poorly-optimized app will cause a lot of irritation if you are using a phone with minimal memory and storage. The best example of this is Facebook, as the app continues to feel slow even on brand-new phones.

Facebook has a simplified version of the app that performs almost as well by making use of a fraction of the full-fledged app's power. Originally, Facebook Lite was designed to operate in developing markets on entry-level smartphones, but the software is available worldwide. Likewise, there are a lot of such apps that might be heavy originally that eat up your space but the lite one would work just fine.

Clean your home screen and reduce animation

clean-home-screen

You should try to reduce animation on your phone and keep it at its best performance rather than the best appearance. Consider substituting it with a nice static picture if you want to use live wallpaper.  Some unused icons can also be swept away and the widgets reduced to the basics. The less crowded your home screen the better it works. By reducing or shutting off any animations, you can make the Android device feel more snappy.

Switch off or reduce auto-sync

auto-sync

Most of us end up connecting to our Android devices a list of different accounts and we encourage them to sync in the background automatically to take in new data and provide us with updates. All this synchronization, not to mention battery life, has a huge effect on efficiency.

Under Accounts, you could go to Settings and find Auto-sync and just turn it off entirely, but most users would find it too dramatic. Instead, why not just reduce the frequency of the sync and delete any accounts that you really don't need? You'll need to open the app to find the settings to minimize the sync frequency for a number of users.

Conduct a factory reset

 factory-data-reset

This is a drastic measure, but if you want your system running in tip-top shape, some people suggest that you regularly do a factory reset. It's a shortcut for your computer to clean up and get rid of any garbage you've collected, but it means deleting all the settings and data. Then make sure you back up anything that's important to you first if you plan to do it. In Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset, you can find the option to do so.

Get a custom ROM built

custoom-ROM

Rooting does not immediately bring any performance enhancements to your Android smartphone, but a custom ROM can. Custom ROMs are a means of providing a newer version of Android for certain smartphones that are not updated anymore. You will also find custom ROMs that fully dispense with bloatware and offer some unique modifications and tweaks. To find the best custom ROM for you, you'll need to do some analysis.

How to Fix Slow Internet Connection? Try These Steps Before Upgrading

23rd March 2020
"The problem partly lies in the so-called “last mile,” the link that connects your home to the ultra-high-speed Internet backbone."

Since most of us working from home, with so much global workforce and their families now cooped up at home to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), it's not a huge surprise that home Internet is showing the strain. If you've had an official video conference stutter while your kids play Pubg online, or found yourself unable to stream the news while other family members upload huge data files for work, you'll have a good idea of the problem.

Here's How you can fix your slow internet connection

Is there a bandwidth problem?

The Internet's core is managing the spike in traffic just fine, experts say. It has a massive capacity to handle YouTube and other streaming services.
True, Netflix has just throttled down its video quality in Europe at the request of authorities there. But the company already stores its programs on servers close to users' homes already, and there's no evidence that it's clogging networks.

The problem partly lies in the so-called “last mile,” the link that connects your home to the ultra-high-speed Internet backbone.

If that happens, one quick solution is to have some family members switch to audio-only, which conserves bandwidth. This also applies to anyone in multiplayer online games. You could also order a service upgrade, although that might not be strictly necessary.

Some providers are temporarily offering more bandwidth, particularly for families with school-age children, in response to the COVID-19 crisis. Others have dropped service caps that charge extra when data usage passes a certain threshold.

There are lots of reasons that stops people from having a fast internet connection.

  •  Avoid Signal Interferences

One of the most common reasons why your internet is acting slow might be due to signal interference. Overlapping internet connections are now everywhere.
To avoid this from happening, you can transfer your router to another place. It’s better for you to place it near your device so that the wireless connection will be nearer and more direct. You can also change your Wi-Fi channel number to improve performance. Remember that the closer your device is to your router, the faster the Wi-Fi connection is.

  •  Close Background Apps

Be mindful of the background apps running on your device. These usually consume lots of network resources which slows down your connection. Though most of them are useful, some aren’t. Turn them off. Or if possible, uninstall the apps you don’t need. The apps that hog a lot of bandwidth are usually games and movie makers.

  •  Fix Your Wi-Fi Signal

You might have noticed that your internet connection is doing good by using a speed test app. But even though it might look good, your wireless signal is still weak. If you’ve experienced this, then the possible culprit might be your router’s location.

Place your router in an open space far from walls and posts that might stop the signal flow. It’s also recommended that you place your Wi-Fi router on a high-standing structure. This way, your mobile devices can connect to it without any objects barricading.

  •  Configure Your Router Settings

Your Wi-Fi router is the centrepiece of your internet connection. Without it, you won't be able to connect to the internet. This is why you need to make sure that the router is configured correctly.

See to it that your settings follow the manufacturer’s guide manual. You can also follow the recommendations of your ISP if there are any. If you did some changes to the configuration, be sure to record them. This makes it easier for you to track the changes if you want to undo them later.

  •  Be Cautious of Worms and Malware

Internet worms can spread from one device to another. This happens especially if the devices are connected to the same network. This makes them a grave threat to all internet users. Once your computer or device is infected, you'll experience a sudden connection slow down.

This happens because internet worms make your device use up lots of network traffic. To avoid this from happening, you can install antivirus software on your device. And be sure to update it now and then.

  •  Contact Your Internet Service Provider (ISP)

If the previous methods prove fruitless, then there might be something wrong with your ISP. It’s possible that your Internet Service Provider had changed its network configuration. Your ISP might also have installed new controls and filters on the network. When this happens, videos take longer to load. To fix this problem, you can try contacting your service provider for help.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PHONE'S BATTERY?

20th August 2020
"We are all concerned about our Smartphone's Battery life, its degradation and health."

Are you concerned about your battery life? Is it draining fast or does it shutdown by force? Does its temperature rise soon after you open gaming apps? Most of the Smartphone users, nowadays, are concerned about increasing their battery life, cause who wants to squander money on Smartphone every year because of battery problems?

Here are 10 tips that will help you take care of your phone’s battery.

Understand your Battery Health

Our battery health degrades a little after every charging cycle. Charging cycle is the cycle in which your battery charges from 0% to 100%. So, if you charge up to 50% then it will be half a charging cycle. It is said that after 400 cycles the battery health degrades by 20% though in some cases it has been found that even after only 100 cycles the battery health degraded by 20%.

Thus, we must understand our battery health and try to reduce the charging cycle. The less we strain the battery by avoiding the high-brightness, extreme temperature, etc., lesser will be the charging cycle and longer will be the battery life.

Avoid extreme temperature

Extreme hot or extreme cold always has and will be the enemy of the battery health. Try to avoid extreme temperatures and keep the phone in normal temperature. Do not leave the phone in car when it’s boiling hot or when it’s freezing cold.

Avoid fast-charging and overcharging

All of us are in hurry to use our phone; so, we seek out for fastest charging charger. Well, fast-charging is most likely to strain your battery that leads to degradation in its health.

Also, it’s not healthy to charge your phone overnight or throughout the day even after it’s fully charged. If you plan on charging your phone overnight, then go with slower-charging chargers that won’t strain the battery.

Avoid draining the battery up to 0% and charging it all the way to 100%

Try to avoid one full charging cycle as it strains the battery, and if possible, try to increase the battery charge by 50% in one charging cycle and not more than that. Experts recommend the Smartphone users to maintain their battery between 20% and 90% to avoid strain on the battery.

Reduce the screen brightness

Among all the apps and softwares in your phone, screen brightness drains the most of your battery. Try to reduce the brightness to the level in which neither your eyes nor the battery strains. Also, avoid auto-brightness as well.

Reduce screen timeout/ Auto-lock

Most often, we leave our phones on and forget to turn the screen off. And, for the Smartphone having 2-5 minutes of default screen timeout, this reduces a lot of energy. So, try to reduce the screen timeout/ Auto-lock to save the battery life when you’re not using it.

Apply Dark Theme

For the phones with OLED or AMOLED screen, use of dark theme can make a huge difference in saving the battery life. Dark theme uses less energy compared to bright theme. This tip can make huge difference in the battery life, especially for Android users

Restrict apps that waste battery

Restrict the unwanted notifications of the applications that are not required as they waste the battery. Also, restrict the applications from running in the background to avoid high battery drain.

Use power-Saving modes

Power-saving modes also helps to keep our battery healthy. Enabling power saving mode restricts the number of applications that can be used; as a result, you can use only the apps you require at the time without having the battery degraded by any other app.

Use certified chargers only

Chargers, having direct effect on the battery, can affect the battery life. Do not go after the cheap chargers and try to use the chargers of certified brands only to ensure no harm is made to the battery.

How to text from your computer with Android Messages

5th October 2020
"Google android messages from web."

Google has the ability to text from the web with Android Messages. The feature gives users a lot more flexibility in choosing how and where they can carry on conversations. As long as your Android smartphone is powered on, you can text from a desktop computer or even other mobile devices — including iOS products like an iPad if you just open up Safari. Aside from text, you can also send emoji, stickers, and images over the web.

Using Android Messages on the web requires using Android Messages as your main texting app on your phone. I like it just fine, and Google is clearly planning big things for the future, but if you prefer, say, Samsung’s default messages app or something else, the two don’t work together.

With that out of the way, getting started and setting things up is fairly simple.

Make sure you’ve got the latest version of Android Messages installed on your phone.

Go to messages.android.com on the computer or other device you want to text from. You’ll see a big QR code on the right side of this page.

Open up Android Messages on your smartphone. Tap the icon with three vertical dots at the top and to the far right. You should see a “Messages for web” option inside this menu.

Tap “QR code scanner” and point your phone’s camera at the QR code on your other device. In less than a second, your phone will vibrate, and the two will be linked up. You should notice your conversations show up in the left column of the browser window. Google says that “conversation threads, contacts, and other settings will be encrypted and cached on your browser.”

Note: this doesn’t mean your actual text conversations are encrypted. They’re not.

And that’s it. To make sure you don’t have to repeat the QR process, you can keep your computer paired with your phone by enabling “Remember this computer.” There will probably be a pop-up asking if you want to enable that the first time you use the web version of Messages. If you missed it, just go to the settings menu, which you can access from the web version of Android Messages by clicking on the three-dot icon to the right of “Messages.” (Of course, you shouldn’t turn this on if you’re using a public PC that other people can easily access.)

WHICH BROWSERS WORK WITH ANDROID MESSAGES ON THE WEB?

Firefox
Microsoft Edge
Safari

REMOVE A COMPUTER’S ACCESS TO YOUR MESSAGES

If you want to revoke a web browser’s access to your conversations and messaging, you can quickly do so from your Android smartphone. Go back to the “Messages for web” area of Android Messages, and you can choose to sign out of individual computers or all of them with a click.

THERE’S A DARK MODE!

Dark themes can be handy if you find that all an app’s whites and light grays might overload your eyeballs at night. If you want to enable the Messages dark theme on mobile, tap the same icon with three vertical dots and looking for “Choose theme.” You can go with light, dark, or the system default.

On the web app, you’ll find “Enable dark theme” in the menu that you get after clicking on the three-dot icon to the right of “Messages.

KEEP YOUR PHONE POWERED ON

Android Messages on the web can’t work independently of your smartphone. So if your battery dies or if your phone shuts off for any reason, you won’t be able to send any texts from your computer.

DRAG MEDIA INTO THE ANDROID MESSAGES CONVERSATION

Sending a photo from Android Messages on the web is dead simple. You can either use the attachments icon — to the right of emoji and stickers — or just drag and drop media into the conversation window to send an MMS.
