Side Effects of Using Cosmetics/Makeups

14th December 2021
"In today’s life, both men and women love makeup as it has become part of their life."

In today’s life, both men and women love makeup as it has become part of their life.

Some use it to look pretty while some of them use it to build up their confidence.

But do you know though makeup makes our skin look flawless it has too many side effects? Some of the side effects of Makeup and Cosmetic products are:

Dry or Oily Skin:

Dry and oiy

Some foundations and powders tend to dry out your skin and make it look dull and dry.

Oil-based makeup can cause your makeup to clump and crease, especially around your eyelids. Such cosmetics will leave an oily deposit that will result in a thick oily sheen.

So using an excessive amount of cosmetics and makeup leads to dry/ oily skin.

Acne:

Acne

Cosmetics like foundation and primer that even out the complexion of your skin and make your skin smooth, do this by smoothening your pores and natural blemishes.

This means that your skin is not allowed to breathe and therefore can end up causing several problems like acne. This is a common side effect of makeup that most women would have experienced.

Your skin is as much a part of your body as any other organ. It also needs to breathe and grow.

Moreover, some types of makeup which are in the form of liquids and creams clog the pores in your skin. This leads to the formation of blackheads, which when not cleaned regularly can form acne.

Allergies:

allergy

Chemicals known as Parabens which include ethyl-paraben, butyl-paraben, and isopropyl-paraben are used as preservatives to prevent bacterial growth in cosmetics.

Parabens can cause various allergic reactions like skin irritation, blotches, and blemishes on the skin.

Moreover, Cosmetics such as deodorants and antiperspirants contain alcohol and can cause redness and irritation, and itching which may eventually lead to pigmentation of the skin.

They also block your sweat glands and can lead to conditions like contact dermatitis and allergies.

Ageing:

Ageing

The chemicals used in makeup contribute to the ageing of your skin because they dry out the natural oils and essential vitamins and minerals present in human skin.

When you use skin products for a longer period of time, the chemicals present tend to permanently damage your skin.

With time, you could begin to see skin ageing signs like wrinkles or patchiness on your face and body.

Eye Infections:

Eye infection

It’s important to remember that your eyes and the skin around them are the most sensitive area of your face.

Layers of eye makeup can be damaging to your eyes as they also slip into your eyes through the corners causing irritation.

Moreover, any kind of irritant in your eye makeup can cause severe harm to your eyes. It can even lead to an eye infection.

Makeup Dos and Don'ts

10th December 2021
"Makeup mainly is used to change or enhance the way we look."

Makeup mainly is used to change or enhance the way we look. Also, many women use makeup to feel more confident and also to hide their imperfections. Moreover, makeup is used to prettify or add color to your face.

We know makeup has been one of the most important works in a women’s daily life so today we are here to help with dos and don’ts in makeup:

Dos

Clean face

Always apply makeup to a clean, grease-free face. If your skin is not clean, then the surface is not smooth for the make-up to sit on and will look dull.

Wash sponges

Wash makeup sponges so that they become clear of the foundation. Not washing sponges creates a home for bacteria which can lead to skin breakouts.

After regular washing of the sponges, leave them to air dry.

Clean your Brushes

It is important to keep your beauty tools as clean as possible, preferably cleaning them once a week.

As your brushes come in contact with your face and then get put into cosmetic bags or other makeup storage, they become breeding grounds for bacteria.

Using brushes that haven’t been cleaned in a long while may result in clogged-up pores, infections, or even more defined wrinkles.

Set Your Foundation with Powder

After putting on foundation, simply dust over a powder that has a feather-light formula.

Doing so will help set the foundation, weather-proofing your look and making it easier to proceed to contour or apply blusher.

Don’t

Skip the Moisturizer

This should not be done at all. Not at all! Don’t be tempted to skip the morning moisturizer.

If you don’t use a moisturizer designed specifically for oily skin, the unwanted shine will appear faster and your makeup won’t be as long-lasting.

Also, if you apply foundation straight to dry skin, it can start to flake resulting in an uneven tone with even the tiniest flaw underlined.

Skip Washing Makeup off Before You Sleep

Not washing your makeup off before you sleep is likely to result in breakouts or even rashes if you have sensitive skin because of the irritants and chemicals within the cosmetics.

If you do it consistently, it will contribute to the premature aging of your skin and lead you to develop more wrinkles.

Don’t Apply Makeup to a Dirty Face

Applying makeup to a dirty face is asking for serious skin problems later in life.

In fact, breakouts and acne may not hold off until much later. Never apply cosmetics on top of other cosmetics that have been sitting on your face for hours. The one exception to this rule is lipstick.

You can reapply lipstick or gloss. However, when it comes to applying foundations or powders, be sure to clean off what you’re currently wearing first and give your pores a chance to breathe.

Don’t Create Fake Brows

While you shouldn’t skip your brows, you definitely don’t want to draw on dramatic fake brows.

Huge, drawn-on brows come across like furry caterpillars. It’s never a good look. Instead, work with the eyebrows that you have and just focus on making them a little more defined, especially if you’re wearing foundation.
