Things to Consider while buying a Stereo Speaker | REVIEWS

7th December 2020
"Play your heart out!"

Stereo speakers are surely priced belongings of our house, but there are some critical variables to remember when purchasing speakers. Personal choice, speaker style, listening room, strength, stereo components, sound quality, price, and many more are the variables that you can never pay for. We can navigate the various facets here and give you a concise understanding of how to select stereo speakers wisely. However, price is not a technical criterion for picking speakers, rather it is the ultimatum. We already have a budget to procure something at all. Hence the supreme consideration is always a price. If we want to get speakers from the top end, so we need to pay accordingly.

Sound Quality

Speaker-sound-quality

The quality of sound is a very private choice. Everyone has different tastes, but what sounds amazing to one person can underwhelm another person. There's no "best-ever speaker out there and individual ears should have the equal appeal of more than one kind. But here are some factors that might make the sound quality good.

Total Harmonic Distortion:

TDH is a test of how speakers accurately convert into sound what's on a cd or hard drive. The lower the percentage, the less distortion, so the higher the lower figures. Values between 0.05 percent and 0.08 percent THD generally mean a "clean" quality system, but any figure below 0.1 percent THD is very fine.

The impedance of the speaker:

This number shows you how much current can be drawn by a speaker. The norm is Eight Ohms. Four ohms are really fine, but typically much more costly. If you buy four-ohm speakers, you're going to need a really good amplifier to make the best of them.

Headroom:

This statistic is a calculation of what can be supplied in brief bursts by a device. It is important to have a big headroom figure if you h

Types of Speakers

types-of-speaker

There is a selection of speakers across several brands to pick from.

All floor-standing, bookshelf, satellite, subwoofer, soundbar, and compact are examples of speaker types. Some, such as on-wall speakers, maybe immediately installed and plugged in whereas special assembly and/or fixtures may be needed for in-wall or in-ceiling styles. Either as a simple stereo pair or multi-channel for surround sound, speakers may be wired, wireless, or both.

As the drivers and enclosures are balanced for performance, floor-standing and bookshelf speakers usually offer a better overall tone. Such styles, however, take up floor space, which for room configurations may be an important concern.

When paired with a subwoofer, satellite speakers tend to be very small speakers that are best, resulting in a much more portable audio setup. Another handy choice for those who want to change audio without any hassle or use of space is a soundbar.

For an invisible (or similar to) speaker effect, in-wall speakers typically have grilles that can be painted to fit the walls. Portable speakers are enjoyable and convenient, often offering wireless networking and rechargeable batteries, but as opposed to more conventional models, they often lack solid sound.

Rooms and Acoustics

room-and-accoustics

In the chosen region, not every sort of speaker can sound fantastic. For a standard bedroom, smaller speakers can fit, but when put in a family room, they sound frail or pale. Small spaces can be quickly overwhelmed by bigger speakers.

Audio is also influenced by room dimensions, content, and materials. Sound can bounce off open walls, large furniture, and bare floors, while sound can end up being absorbed by rugs, carpets, and cushions. It's great to see a compromise of both. Vaulted ceilings create an environment that is more accessible, while narrower rooms offer a more intimate feeling.

Bigger speakers are usually more capable of producing higher decibel levels, but to be sure, it's good to verify the watt output.

Matching With the Right Components

matching-with-right-components

Match speakers with an amplifier or receiver that provides the proper amount of power for the maximum output. Typically, manufacturers define a spectrum of amplifier power required to power each unit properly. For starters, to work well a speaker can need a range of 30 to 100 watts of output power.

For efficiency purposes, stick with the same brand of speakers whether you go with a multi-channel or surround-sound system. More fine-tuning could be required if it's a mix-and-match scenario.

System Optimization

System-optimization

Take time to attach, mount, and position the speakers correctly after you get your speakers home to get the very best sound possible. In the long term, a little persistence now pays off.

When close or up against a wall, some speakers sound best, while when granted more breathing space, others do well. When placed at ear-level, tweeters and mid-range drivers appear to sound louder.

5 Things to Consider while Buying Gaming Monitor

24th August 2020
"Planning to buy a gaming monitor but having problems with choosing one? We are here to ease your inconvenience."

Most of the people, while setting up a gaming PC, tend to prioritize the hardware and fill their computer case with expensive hardware. Besides the hardware, peripherals like keyboards and mouse are given more emphasis even though the average keyboard and mouse will do for most people. Monitors, on the other hand, are most important yet most bypassed part while setting up a gaming PC. What fun will it be if your display won’t have the specs that won’t augment your expensive hardware?

As the display or monitor shows your actions, moves, enemies and your entire game; it should obviously be considered cautiously while setting up a gaming PC. The things that should be considered while buying a Gaming monitor are:

Resolution

Resolution is the most important aspect to look for while buying a gaming monitor. Higher the resolution- higher the number of pixels, clearer the images and superior will be your gaming experience. The gaming monitors come in 3 resolutions- 1080p, 1440p and 2160p. Considering the hardware and GPU limitations 1440p can be regarded as the most suitable resolution for enhancing your gaming experience with inexpensive hardware. But, if you have advanced hardware and GPU, then you can go for 2160p resolution.

Refresh Rate

Refresh rate, simply, is the number of times the image or frame in your screen is refreshed within 1 second. A monitor with 60 Hz refresh rate will be able to refresh the image on the screen up to 60 times per second. Higher the refresh rate, smoother and less choppy images will be formed. Generally, for gaming purpose, the refresh rate should be at least 75Hz for smoother gameplay.

Response Time

Response time is the speed at which a single pixel on the screen can change its color. Lower the response time, better will be the gaming experience. If response time is higher, it will create ‘motion blur’ effect. For gaming, monitor with response time less than 8ms should be considered.

Panel Type

Basically, there are 3 different types of panels each with their own set of strengths and weaknesses- TN, VA and IPS. TN is the cheapest and offers the lowest response time though its visual quality and viewing angles are relatively not so impressive. VA panels offer best viewing angles and have the superior visual quality to TN panels; however, its response time is higher and is a bit pricey. Amongst all, IPS panels are regarded as best panels but most expensive. They have the best visual effects and contrast but have about 4ms response time which is higher than TN panel. If your budget supports, IPS panels are best for consideration or else, TN panels with their lowest response time will also do.

G-sync or Freesync

NVIDIA’s G-Sync and AMD’s Freesync are the technologies that aim to eliminate the screen tearing (a graphics distortion where multiple frames are displayed in a single screen draw that occurs when graphics processor is out of sync with the display). They help your monitor to refresh at a rate that matches your graphics card. However, you cannot use AMD’s Freesync technology with NVIDIA’s graphics card and NVIDIA’s G-Sync technology with AMD’s graphics card. Both technologies are good and you can choose among these relying upon your budget or the video card of your choice.

Things to consider while buying a TV

21st September 2020
"Buying TV is not a piece of cake, from size to contrast, everything should be thoroughly examined."

Do you want to enrich the look of your living room with a beautiful TV? Or, are you in need of one and don't have proper knowledge about TV and how to choose an appropriate one? If you are looking for basic knowledge or tips to consider while buying a TV, then keep on reading.

The trend of TV has been somehow decreasing due to the advancement of smartphones and the internet for the past decade. However, TV nowadays is as smart as smartphones with a bigger screen and better customer experience. Buying a Television for your home can be stressful with all the budget that one has to pour into it. Here, are few things to consider while buying a TV that'll cool your stress down.

Size

Bigger the size, the fancier the TV, and the better the user experience. However, one must not forget the capacity of the room. Measure the dimensions of the room and thoroughly examine the size of the TV that you require for your room. You might regret buying a 55-inches bigger, fancier TV if you have a small room of just 7-ft height and 8-ft length. So, select the size that is suitable for your room.

Viewing distance

Viewing distance, when put straightforward, is the distance from the TV that must be kept in order to prevent any kind of stress in your eyes. Normally, a distance of 4-ft is a must if you're buying a 32-inches LED TV. And, for TV with 40-48 inches, a viewing distance of at least 7-ft is a must. Likewise, for 55-inch or 65-inch LED TV, a 9-ft viewing distance is needed.

Resolution

For better viewing experience, the resolution should be considered. If you are looking TV for normal usage like for watching news once or twice a day, and are short on budget, then you can go for a 720p resolution. Nevertheless, if you have enough budget and use the TV for gaming, watching movies, Netflix, etc., then don't settle for less than 1080p i.e. FHD. If possible go for UHD, or else go after FHD.

Audio Output

TV must have a good screen with good visuals, but the audio output of the TV should also be checked. Budget TV may have a pleasing display but the audio output may be a disappointment. So, try to get a soundbar speaker to enrich your experience with better sound quality.

Connectivity Options

The more connectivity options better the experience. If you want to use the TV for other purposes like gaming, watching movies, etc., then look out for other connectivity options like HDMI, USB port, 3.5 mm audio jack, and other AV ports. Also, the presence of Bluetooth connectivity will be an advantage.

Refresh Rate

Refresh rate means the number of times the picture on the screen gets refreshed within a second. The higher the refresh rate is smoother the video appears. Go for TV with a refresh rate between 60Hz to 120Hz.

Contrast

The contrast ratio describes the range of brightness levels your TV can display. Better the contrast, better the brightness levels. There are different ways of measuring the contrast ratio; so, check thoroughly while looking out for contrast.

Smart TV

Not all 'smart TV' is smart. Some smart TV offer variety of apps and features, whereas some lack in such apps. Better go after the Google-certified or android-certified Smart TV that offers a variety of features including play store, voice assistant, etc.

Things to consider while buying a hand blender

22nd November 2020
"Get yourself a hand blender that fits perfectly in your hand."

A hand blender is a go-to appliance if you are a busy person and want to have some delicious fruit juice every morning without any hassle. There are many things you will have to consider while buying a hand blender, but the most important thing to keep in mind is- why do you need it? And how much can you spend on it? After setting the basic criteria for your purchase, you can look for other things on the checklist while buying a hand blender.

Quality and material

The quality and material of both the product itself as a whole and its blades are really essential. Look out for the type of material the hand blender has. Is it the same for the entire product including its blades? You can choose from plastic or metal. Metalling a hand blender with a metal hold can be expensive-so, if you are a bit tight on your budget, then go with a plastic handle and metal blades.

Power and speed

The power and speed of the hand blenders depend upon the things you are going to blend using the machine. If it is a harder and bigger piece, you may require more power and speed. The majority of the products have 400W to 800W power of the hand blender. The speed required also differs with the things you blend in the hand blender. If you wish to blend fruits, you may need higher speed. But if you plan on whisking sauce and creams, a slower speed will be best.

Design

The design of the hand blender should be ergonomic. It must fit your hand perfectly to avoid any kind of inconvenience. It's best to seek out designs that are easy to hold and clean. If you have a smaller hand, then go with hand blenders that have a slimmer neckline. Also, it's best to have the buttons perfectly placed so that your fingers can get hold of the buttons easily without creating any mess.

Noise

Every electronic device makes noise. It's inevitable. But the amount of noise differs. If it starts to vibrate loudly immediately after you start the blender, then it possibly will make more noise in the future. Normally, the cheaper the blender, the louder the noise. So, try to get yourself a noise-free blender

Size and weight

A hand blender is best if it's no longer than an A4 size paper and weighs no more than 2lb. This type of hand blender can perfectly fit your hands and it won't be too uncomfortable or too heavy to hold.

Suitability

If you are purchasing a hand blender to blend yourself a smooth smoothie every morning before you head to the gym, then keep in mind the reason for purchase. Get yourself the hand blender that suits you and fills its need. Also, if you need a hand blender with accessories like extra blades for whisking and blending, you should get yourself the blender that you require.

Brand

The brand always makes an impact on the product. Some brands may have good products but bad customer service, and after-sale service. And, as electronic devices may require after-sale service, you need to check out for the brands that render good products, along with proper after-sale service.
