Safety measures to consider while using a room heater

7th November 2020
"Do not forget to turn the room heater off before sleeping!"

Room heaters are inevitable to survive through chilly winters. They warm up our space and help us focus on our work easing us from the inconvenience of cold. They can be of many types- infrared, convection, fan heaters, and many more. You can also get yourself a portable heater if you like to have warmth around you wherever you move. Basically, room heaters have eased our lives and helped us survive the icy cold winters.

Room heaters can be as harmful as they are convenient if used improperly. You may have heard about several accidents and deaths caused by improper use of heaters. On one hand, if used with proper precautions, heaters help you to survive the cold. And, on other hand, if used improperly, you will be shocked if you hear the damages done by a simple heater. Many lives have been taken by the Carbon Monoxide fumes, an odorless, invisible yet poisonous gas, generated by the room heaters. So, make sure to use them with proper precautions.

Here are a few safety measures to consider while using a room heater.

Keep it in an open space far from inflammable objects

It is best if you place your heater on a flat open floor. As it is burning hot, especially the infrared heaters come with a hot heating element that is hot enough to burn papers if they contact. So, to avoid any kind of fire accidents, it is best to place the heater in an open space at least 2-3 feet away from furniture, papers, blankets, etc.

Look out for the broken cord

Before using the heater, take a few seconds out to inspect the heater to check if it has any broken cord. Broken cords or bars may lead to higher health problems if avoided. Moreover, do not let any dust get piled up in the heating element as well. If the health of the heater gets bad, do not avoid it and either has it repaired by a professional or replace it with a new one.

Place the heater away from the reach of children and pets

Do not experiment

Often times, there have been accidents when people tried to dry clothes with the help of a room heater. The room heater was made to keep you and your room warm and nothing else. Do not run experiments with your heater, unless you want to burn your house down.

Avoid overloading power

The heater consumes a lot of power; so, make sure that it is not plugged with any other electrical appliances. It may cause overloading of power which leads to shortcircuit as well.

Turn it off before sleeping

You may have heard people dying in their sleep because of the carbon monoxide that accumulates in the room. If you do not want to suffocate yourself to death, do not forget to turn the heater off before sleeping or leaving the room.

Do not place it in humid places

It is pretty tempting to place a heater in your bathroom during showers in the winter. But, this temptation might cause significant hazards. Do not place a heater in humid places and avoid liquids at any cost. Also, avoid touching the heater with wet hands to avoid electrical damages.

Things to consider while buying a washing machine | Reviews Nepal

23rd September 2020
"Washing machines come in two different types- semi-automatic and fully-automatic."

Washing machines, the hassle-free equipment to wash your clothes conveniently, has been quite a trend even in Nepal for quite a time now. With busy schedules and people's tendency to seek convenience, the preference for washing machines is growing. However, not everyone can afford it as good washing machines are quite pricy and the ones that are cheaper might not do the work. Well, with depth research, you can surely find the washing machine that will be suitable for you. Here we provide you some ideas on things that should be considered while buying a washing machine.

Washing Machine Capacity

The capacity of the washing machine is measured in kilograms that are directly linked with the weight of clothes you plan to wash. If you have a larger family and wash the clothes once or twice a week then go after a large capacity washing machine. But if you plan on washing the clothes in a portion in a few days interval then you can also go after a medium or even small-capacity washing machine. The only problem will be that it will take more time to do all the laundry.

Type

Washing machines mainly are of two types semi-automatic washing machines which require a lot of human intervention and fully-automatic washing machines which is totally automated and you just have to put clothes for wash and take them out once they are done. Moreover, there are top-loading and front-loading automatic washing machines which differ from each other due to the positioning of the tubes for washing and drying. If you are tight on budget then go after semi-automatic washing machines where you will have to manually take the clothes out from the washing tube and put them into the dryer tube. And, in the case of automatic washing machines, front-loading washing machines are the most expensive that comes with a number of washing programs. Nonetheless, top-loading washing machines are also quite good as they offer decent wash programs at a smaller budget.

The material of Drum/Tub

The drum or Tub of a washing machine is simply the drum where you wash all the clothes and dry them. Being a major part of the washing machine, the buyer must not forget to examine its material. The drum, generally, is made up of stainless steel, plastic, or porcelain-enamel. Plastic tubs last longer than the enamel tubs as they rust pretty fast. Nonetheless, the tubs made up of stainless steel are the best.

Wash Settings

Wash settings are the wash programs that are available in the washing machines. Generally, the top-loading washing machines come with varieties of wash programs. From gentle wash for frail clothes to synthetic wash for cotton clothes, there are a variety of programs that vary in the amount of drum rotation and temperature. If you have such wash program alternatives, you can set the program as per the clothes you wash and can also save your favorite settings.

Spin Cycle

The spin cycle is determined by the revolution per minute that is used for drying your clothes. The higher the spin cycle or revolution per minute, the better the cloth dries. The spin cycle, however, differs among the clothes. For frail clothes, the spin cycle can be 300-500 rpm whereas for thicker clothes like jeans 1000 rpm will be the best.

Temperature control

It's difficult to wash the clothes at the same temperature throughout the year, especially during the winter. With a temperature control feature on your washing machine, you can control the temperature of the water in your washing machine. Besides, we all know that clothes are easier to clean with hot water rather than cold water.

29th September 2020
"Want to buy a geyser? Don't forget to keep the following things in mind."

Geyser/ water heaters are simply the equipment which as the name suggests function to warm up the water in your kitchen or bathrooms. Buying geysers can be quite difficult if you know the things to consider and can be quite easy if you are unaware of the importance of some features and just go after its looks. From energy consumption to space and location you choose for the geyser, every detail must be meticulously examined. Here, we present to you 9 important things one should keep in mind while buying a geyser/water heater.

Price

While buying a geyser one should not go for a device out of their budget. One should see geyser that fits them economically. As there are different kinds of geysers, you can find the best geyser with the functions that you are searching for within your budget.

Space and location

The wall or floor space should be considered while buying a geyser or a water heater. The spot to be designated must have easy connectivity to the input and outlet faucets. And, it should be easily accessible for maintenance and repairs. Moreover, make sure that the place where you keep the geyser is properly ventilated in order to avoid any kind of risk such as suffocation while using the geyser.

Size of the geyser

A geyser once bought will be used by the entire family. So, keep the size of your family and the number of people who’ll use the geyser while buying one. An oversized geyser means heating of extra water that is not required if you have a family of 3. So, choose the size of the geyser according to the necessity in the family and save electricity.

Longevity and parts availability

Buy a geyser that has a longer life and has easily available replaceable parts. Though your budget should also be considered while looking out for a durable geyser, don’t hesitate to add a few hundreds or thousands of rupees to buy the geyser that lasts relatively for a longer period. For example, a tank-less water heater’s life is of about 20 years while that of tank-type is 10 to 12 years.

Warranty

Besides the warranty of the geyser itself, don’t forget to check the warranty of the heating element and the tank while buying a geyser. Also, keep the warranty card safe.

Brand

Besides the features of a geyser, you should look after other services like after-sale service and warranties. Not every brand provides such services and not every brand is trustworthy; so, purchase a geyser from brands that are trustworthy like Bajaj, Racold, etc.

Looks

If you are a person who loves decorating their house and is a bit picky, then buy a geyser that suits your bathroom decor, style, and size. Also, A MAJOR REMINDER, don’t forget to check out the important features while going after a beautiful geyser.

Type

Basically, there are two types of geysers depending on their size, convenience, and uses. They are instant geysers and storage geysers. Instant geysers are small and occupy less wall-mounting space, also they are suitable for washing kitchen utensils, hand wash, and bathing using a bucket. Storage geysers are big and occupy more wall-mounting space; these geysers are suitable for bathing using buckets as well as using a shower. Storage geysers are cost-friendly as compared to Instant geysers. However, the instant geysers last longer than storage geysers.

Energy consumption

A 5 star rated geyser consumes less electricity for heating water as well as has much less heat loss. Install energy-efficient star rated geyser and reduce your monthly electricity bills. Higher star-rated geysers are a little expensive to buy in the first place but they save a lot of money over a longer time period.

Things to consider while buying a Air Purifier | Reviews

27th April 2022
"Buying a air purifier is always worth it; however, don't forget to keep certain things in mind."

Air purifiers are a device that removes the contaminants or allergens from your room promoting an improved indoor air quality. If you are someone who suffers from allergies and is asthmatics, air purifiers will be best for you. Air purifiers remove the harmful allergens, smoke, mold, and particles from your room.

Buying an air purifier is always worth it. With air purifiers, in just 30 mins to 2 hours you can get fresh air in your room. The filter-based air purifiers are best as they won't do any harm to your health rather help you breathe fresh allergen-free air. However, not every air purifier you see is worth it; so, in order to make your purchase worthy, keep the following things in mind while buying an air purifier.

Room size

First of all, you need to know the size of your room prior to the purchase. Measure the area in square feet as the air purifier suitability depends upon the area of the room. Measure the area, then seek out for the air purifiers that apt the size of the room. Besides, allocate the area where you wish to place the air purifier as they are not small devices and will take up a lot of space off your room. If you plan on moving the device more often, go for the portable and light-weighted devices.

Filter type

Do not forget to check the type of the filter as not every filter can filter or get rid of the allergens and other particles. The most reliable and commonly used filter is HEPA aka High-Efficiency Particulate Air. The models with HEPA rated filters can get rid of 99.97% of the airborne particles like allergens, mold, dust, and animal dander.

Technology

Not all technology is healthy for you and your family. So, check out the technology prior to the purchase. Avoid the air purifiers with UV filtration and ionization based purifiers as they emit ozone which is harmful to your health and may lead to respiratory problems.

Portability and weight

If you plan on shifting your air purifiers often, then avoid the struggle of shifting the heavily weighted air purifiers and buy a portable air purifier. Though the portable purifiers are smaller in size, they are as efficient as the bigger ones and will clean the air in your room with the same efficiency. They don't take up much space off your room and are quite cheaper compared to the large ones that take up most space in your room.

Noise and Energy rating

Every air purifiers make noise, but if you do not want a noisy environment then do check the noise levels. The ideal noise level for a fan running at top speed is 35db. So, check the noise level and the reviews of other users on the online sites before the purchase. Many purifiers also come with sleep mode which reduces the noise level to its maximum extent.

Besides, check the energy rating of the air purifier as well. The models with higher energy star are more efficient and use less amount of electricity. Save energy, save the environment, and go for the higher energy star rated air purifiers.

Maintenance

The filters of the air purifiers must be replaced quite often and the purifier must be maintained quite often; so, don't forget to check the after-sale service of the company.

Warranty

Check all the terms and conditions in the warranty while buying an air purifier.
