Tips to clean hard-to-reach places around the house

20th January 2022
"It can feel like a never-ending effort to keep hard-to-reach places clean and dust-free."

It can feel like a never-ending effort to keep hard-to-reach places clean and dust-free. Whether you're cleaning or simply trying to keep things tidy, it's frequently the little things that prove the most difficult.

So, here are some tips to clean hard-to-reach places around your house:

Ceiling fans and light fixtures

To reach those high ceiling fans and light fixtures, it's not a good idea to stand or sit on someone's shoulders.

It is not as tough as it appears to clean ceiling fans. Clean the blades of the fan and the light fixtures with a microfiber cloth attached to a mop handle or broom handle.

A disposable duster with an extendable handle can also be used.

Make sure the duster you buy is composed of a material that clings to dust and debris rather than scattering it.

Cabinet Tops and Tall Furniture

If the cabinets are mounted on the wall, you may not be able to see their tops very often.

Such spaces collect a lot of dust if they aren't cleaned regularly.

Wipe off the cabinet tops with a disposable duster with an extendable handle regularly.

You can also use a cleaning cloth, cleaning solution, and a stool to reach the cabinet top in this region.

Window Blinds and Curtains

We don't pay much attention to our blinds and curtains.

Blind slats may appear difficult to clean, but they are dust magnets that must be dealt with regularly.

Wrap a damp microfibre towel around a pair of kitchen tongs or a similarly shaped utensil.

Slide the tong along each slat, ensuring that all dust is removed. After that, wash the microfiber cloth.

Behind the toilet

This is one of the dirtiest tasks yet, especially if the dirt is allowed to accumulate over an extended period.

This area is difficult to reach, and your mop will not fit.

Prepare yourself with gloves, knee pads, a sponge, a cleaning cloth, and a cleaning solution to thoroughly clean this area.

Using the sponge, scrape the area with the cleaning solution. Rinse the area with clean water and a clean sponge. Wipe with the dry cleaning cloth to finish.

Ceilings and Moldings

Take a look above; you might be shocked to find how much dust and spider webs have gathered along with your ceiling and crown moldings.

To remove the filth, use a long-handled duster, a clean and dry sponge mop, or a broom.

When cleaning a room, do this first so you can vacuum up any falling dirt.

Tips for choosing pot for your houseplants

15th December 2020
"Choose the pot that suits your style and gives positive vibes."

Houseplants are the best and liveliest option for decorating your house. There are plenty of options for pots from clay pots to ceramics and plastic pots, you can choose the one you like and prefer. With cute and beautiful houseplants with beautiful pots, you can bring positive vibrance to your house. Let's look at some tips for choosing pots for your houseplants.

Size

The size of the pot depends upon the size or type of plant you are planning to plant. If you are planning for smaller plants that barely grow like cactus, you can go with smaller sized pots. And if you are planning to get a ZZ plant or pothos, then make sure to buy a bigger one and change the pot to a bigger size in bigger diameter as the plant keeps on growing.

However, excessively big pots can look unproportioned and can cause several health problems to the plant as the soil will dry out easily.

Drainage

The plant needs a proper drainage hole to release excess water. Having a drainage hole will help you ensure that the soil won't stay wet for a longer period of time. The excess water can freely release from the drainage holes letting your plant roots get the oxygen. Moreover, if you use a saucer or pan beneath the pot, then ensure to empty it to prevent the roots from soaking in too much moisture.

Type of pot

There are basically 3 different types of pot i.e. ceramics pot, plastic pot, and clay pot. Currently, the ceramic pot is quite an on-trend because of its availability in different shapes, styles, and colors. Clay pots are quite heavy and cheap and are best for heavy plants. And, the most convenient one is a plastic pot, which is easily available at a reasonable price in different shapes, designs, and colors. You can choose the type of pot you want as per the feel and look you desire.

Designs

As for the design, go after your preference. You may choose the plain pots with little to no design, or some minimalistic designs, or some detailed designs as well. You can also customize your own pots.

Keep it clean

Dirty and unhygienic pots may cause different problems to the plant. The plant leaves may dry out, or different black spots may form, or the plant may suffer from other various kinds of problems if the pot is not clean. Moreover, if you plan on reusing the pots, then clean the pot inside out. Normally, it is difficult to clean a clay pot,  but with the help of a bristle brush or steel-wood pad, you can clean off the white marks easily.

Home hacks that will Solve your Household Problems

1st December 2021
"Are you tired of a simple problem in your home which needs a big solution?"

Are you tired of a simple problem in your home which needs a big solution? Here we have a list of simple home hacks which is a great solution for the common household problem:

Unclog a stuck drain with coffee.

Do you know coffee grounds can be mixed with dish soap and boiling water to unclog drains?

You just need to mix the grounds with soap and add the mixture into your drain, following it up with a lengthy pour of boiling water, the combination of which will break up whatever's clogging your pipes.

Remove small scratches on furniture with toothpaste.

We all end up with small scratches in the finishes of our furniture from time to time. So to get rid of the small scratches you just need toothpaste!

Using a pea-sized amount of non-gel paste, rub the scratch in a circular motion until it buffs out, and then clean the remainder with a damp towel. Then, see the shine in your furniture!!

Remove candle wax from the furniture with ice cubes.

If you ever spill candle wax on a piece of furniture then don’t lose your calm. Instead, fill a plastic bag with ice cubes, place it over the wax, and let it sit for a few minutes.

Once the wax has sufficiently cooled and hardened, you can pick it up easily without ruining your furniture's finish or fabric. Easy right?

Use vinegar to get odors out of your microwave.

If your microwave is smelling like a rotten fish, there's a simple way to get it clean and odor-free without using harsh chemicals.

You just place a bowl of vinegar in the microwave for around five minutes and simply wipe it afterward and the odor is gone!

Wrap a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser to avoid overuse.

Are you tired of your children overusing the soaps and handwash?

Don’t worry! Just wrapping a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser will slow its flow, meaning you'll get an appropriate amount of soap with every pump and won't run through an entire bottle each week. Trick your children!!
