There are different errors and carelessness done by drivers that damage their car and shorten the life span of their car.

Here are some bad habits that drivers make and should stop right now:

Hitting humps and potholes at full speed

A driver must avoid humps, bumps, and potholes while driving. If you can’t avoid them, you need to reduce your speed and go over them with care.

A lot of parts can get damaged if you keep hitting these road obstacles—wheels, tires, arms, shocks, steering column which are expensive to replace.

Driving on an empty tank fuel

Driving the car until the fuel light shows blinking is another way of shortening the car’s lifespan.

Much of the functionality of your fuel system’s parts depend on your tank having the optimal amount of fuel.

Driving regularly on low allows air to enter your fuel system, which could cause a range of problems including mistiming and engine overheating.

Not scheduling regular check-ups

Regular checkup is important. Just like you have regular doctor’s visits for preventative care, your car should get check-ups too.

Always look at your car twice a year by a professional to ensure that everything is running smoothly.

This step can save your money in the long run and can add years to the life of your car.

Improper Alignment of the Tires

The alignment of the tires can make a huge impact on the car's performance.

Inappropriate alignment of the tires can result in imbalance causing road accidents as well.

Moreover, it makes a great impact on the fuel economy too. So, make sure to check the alignment of your car.

Accelerating In Cold Engine

Accelerating the car engine while it’s cold can reduce some years from the life of your car.

Avoid full-throttle acceleration as an engine needs a little time to heat up.

Heavy Foot on the Brakes

Putting a heavy foot on the brakes will harm the brake pads and rotors. It will then ask for replacement more often.

Do not put heavy pressure on the brake pedals while driving.

Bad Habits that will kill your Car's Engine

12th December 2021
"The car’s engine needs regular care and maintenance to work efficiently."

The car’s engine needs regular care and maintenance to work efficiently. There may be many things that we do unknowingly while driving a car that has adverse effects on its engine over a period of time.

In this article, we will tell you about 10 habits by which you are unknowingly damaging your car.

Skipping regular maintenance

The first and the foremost thing is to main your car regularly. Skipping the regular maintenance means killing your car’s engine.

Moreover, all machines need regular maintenance and so the engine is no different.

Skipping regular servicing and check-ups leads to many problems in the long run which can cost a lot more to rectify.

A frequent oil change is also essential for smooth engine operations.

Not checking the coolant temperature

Not checking the coolant temperature also causes different problems in your car’s engine. Most modern vehicles have an engine temperature gauge on the dashboard.

Moreover, an extremely high engine temperature is a sign that something is wrong and you should stop driving immediately.

Also, when a car stays cold for a long period of time, it is a signal that temperature sensors are not working as expected.

Shutting down Turbo engine immediately

Turbocharged engines are efficient, economical, and provide additional power to the car.

Moreover, a turbocharger is attached to the engine, it provides additional power, and in the process, it becomes hot especially if you drive the car hard.

If the engine is brought to a sudden stop after a long and intense drive, the oil in the turbine is still boiling hot, which damages the internal components of the engine.

So, always idle for about a minute before you take out the key, the car will cool down the components equally and certainly prevent any damage.

Driving on an empty tank

You are killing your fuel pump if you drive on an empty tank and could be very expensive to replace.

The fuel pump needs a certain level of fuel in the tank to function as expected. When the fuel is low, the fuel pump will either not work or overheat and may cause the engine to shut down.

Drive around with half a tank to keep your fuel pump working and reduce wear.

Constant speeding

Constant speeding causes unnecessary heating and friction in the car’s engine and pressure on other components like tyres.

Moreover, you need to maintain a constant and optimal driving speed so that there’s less pressure on the car’s engine parts and better engine life.

There are different errors made by motorcycle riders that damage their bike and shorten the life span of their bikes.

Here are some bad habits that riders make and should stop right now:

Not Allowing the Motorcycle to Warm Up

Warming up your motorcycle is a great way to prepare the engine for a long ride, as well as conditioning for long-term usage.

A general rule of thumb on any type of machine is to let it warm up before usage, and this holds true for a motorcycle as well.

Moreover, warming up your motorcycle is a great way to prepare the engine for a long ride, as well as conditioning for long-term usage.

Riding the Motorcycle Consistently Without an Oil Change

Failure to change the oil in a timely manner can cause the engine to get sludge, as well as cause friction when the engine is under stressful conditions such as riding in the heat or the extreme cold.

Moreover, it is very crucial to keep your oil up to date in your motorcycle.

Rough Riding with No Experience

Many new riders are not able to properly shift and treat their bikes, and this can cause a big problem to your motorcycle engine and parts.

A general rule for a new rider to practice before actually investing in a new motorcycle is because there is no point in wasting money on repairs that are caused by inexperience.

Half clutch riding habit

Many people don’t have a knowledge of clutch. Many people do these mistakes mistakenly. They just adopt these mistakes without their knowledge.

Moreover, riding the bike by just pressing half clutch damages the clutch plate.

Starting with high gear

Starting a bike with high gear is the biggest mistake made by the riders. If you tried to accelerate your bike after starting on high gear then it directly affects your motorcycle engine or clutch life.

Always start your motorcycle with neutral or minimum gear because every gear has its own speed gear ratio.
