NTC LAUNCHES ‘HAPPY LEARNING PACK’

"NTC offers budget-friendly data packages with a vision to aid online education system in current scenario."

NTC has launched ‘Happy Learning Pack’ to facilitate online classes that are being conducted nationwide. As the entire world is suffering from the novel Coronavirus Pandemic, the traditional teaching-learning process has been replaced by online class system. 

In context of Nepal, several students and teachers are stressing because of no internet connection and pricey data packages. To solve this hurdle, NTC has introduced Happy Learning Pack on the auspicious occasion of Father’s day on Bhadra 3, 2077.

Previously, NTC had also introduced e-Shikshya Package. Both e-Shikshya Pack and Happy Learning Pack are an offer for students and teachers of any academic institutions all over Nepal. These are highly subsidized Large Data Pack that works in all networks (2G/3G/4G).

What are the Package offers in Happy Learning Pack?

Happy Learning Pack has two package offers and they are:

  • 24GB All Time Data [20GB for e-learning  Apps (Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet) + 4GB for Any Applications ] at Rs. 315
  • 35GB All Time Data [30GB for e-learning Apps(Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet) + 5GB for Any Applications] at Rs. 500

The validity of above package is 28 days and the above prices are inclusive of Telecommunication Service Charge (TSC) and VAT. Also digital payment options are avialable.

What is the Process to get the Package? 

If you want to get the package offer then you must;

  • Prepare an official request from your School, College, or University with the list of students or academic staff along with their name and mobile number. 
  • Send the soft copy of the request and list (word or excel) from the authorized staff to [email protected]
  • If Possible, use the institution’s official email for correspondence.

Once eligible, you can dial *1441# and select any package you require. And to check the volume, you can dial *1415*55# or use Nepal Telecom APP.

NTC bringing 4G services into operation in 50 urban areas

Nepal Telecom is bringing its 4G services into operation in 50 urban areas throughout the country. The service will come into effect from coming Wednesday.

The government-owned telecom service provider is expanding its 4G service after long efforts when the private sector telecom service provider Ncell has been claiming of extending this service in most of the places of the country. Nepal Telecom has stated that it would announce the expansion of the 4G service by organizing a program in Kathmandu which would be addressed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Nepal Telecom started its 4G service in Kathmandu and Pokhara starting in January 1, 2017. The Telecom is expanding its 4G services by selecting places where there is much business transaction and where the population density is more. Nepal Telecom's spokesperson Pratibha Baidya said “Works are on regarding providing the 4G services in 50 urban and town areas as per the preparations so far. BTS towers have been installed at more than 110 places for this purpose. The number of such towers will reach 150 until Wednesday.”

According to the spokesperson, every day more than a dozen towers are being installed and works are going ahead in a rapid manner, so we are planning to extend the service to more than the fixed number. She also added that the service would be started in Chandragadhi, Birtamod, Damak, Biratnagar, Inaruwa, Dharan, Dhankuta, Janakpur, Jesleshwar, Malangawa, Bara, Parsa, Simara, Kalaiya and Gaur. Similarly, the service would be expanded to Dhading, Kavrepalanchok, Sindhupalchok, Bidur, Manthali, Bhimeshwar, Sindhulimadhi, Parbat, Kushma, Baglung, Chitwan, Sauraha, Taulihawa, Butwal, Devdaha, Tulsipur, Ghorahi, Nepalgunj, Kohalpur, Surkhet, Bhimdattanagar, Jhalari, Pipaladi, Chaumala and Attariya.

The 4G service is reaching more than 50 places at the same time in less than eight months since works for this purpose were begun in accordance with Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Gokul Prasad Banskota's directive to expand the service within the stipulated time frame. The goal is to expand the 4G LTE service throughout the country until February 12, 2020.

NTC launches optical fibre phone, internet service in Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang

"The total 60 consumers of Galeshwor have got the service connected to their phones in the first phase."

Nepal Telecom, the state-owned telecommunication service provider, has launched phone and internet service through optical fiber cables in Baglung, Parbat, Myagdi and Mustang districts which will replace current ADSL and provide faster internet services.

Senior engineer for the Nepal Telecom office, Baglung, Keshab Sharma announced the service operation by inaugurating it amid a function on Wednesday. "Customers can avail of the service based on optical fiber technology at their old telephone number," he said.

The total of 60 consumers of Galeshwor have got the service-connected to their phones in the first phase. He added, the service would be expanded to the district headquarters, Beni bazaar. In this regard, efforts were underway to bring this service to the total 2,560 consumers in Beni bazaar. Approximately 1,100 consumers of Baglung bazaar have availed of the service so far.

The NTC has a plan to provide the service to over 5,200 customers in Beni bazaar alone. Likewise, the installation of optical fiber is underway in a bid to provide the service to 2,560 customers in Kushma, the district headquarters of Parbat, and 1024 in Jomsom, the district headquarters of Mustang, according to the NTC.
