Remove Scratches From the Motorcycle | Tips |

22nd December 2021
"Dealing with scratches has been one of the worst nightmares among vehicle owners."

Dealing with scratches has been one of the worst nightmares among vehicle owners. No matter how careful you are you cannot avoid that one scratch on your ride.

Also, untreated scratches can eventually cause the motorcycle to rust causing more problems.

Here are some tips to remove the scratches from your motorcycle:

Check for scratches:

The first and foremost thing you need to do is check for the scratched on your motorcycle.

See how deep or what type is it. All you need to do is check the scratch with your fingernail to see if it is deep.

Unless your fingernail is caught on the scratch, the damage is only superficial.

If the scratches are deep, you will need professional scratch removal products.

Clean Motorcycle:

Always make sure to clean your motorcycle’s surface before going further with other things.

If you fail to do so it will simply make things worse if you rub debris and dirt over the affected area.

You can either clean your bike on your own or send it out for a professional wash.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste goes well with minor scratches. Note down, only mirror scratched can be solved not the deeper ones.

All you need to do is sweep over the surface of your motorbike with your microfiber cloth with toothpaste using circular motions.

You should keep doing this until the toothpaste is distributed evenly on the surface and then rinse any excess residue off.

Candle wax

Candle wax is also another great way to cover the scratches to make them invisible.

All you need to do is clean the scuffed area and allow it to dry, then, rub a light coat of the candle wax on the scuffed area. This coat will cover and seal the unwanted mark.

Moreover, this helps for a very short period of time.

Nail polish

Nail polish is cheap and exists in many colors, which, makes it a go-to solution when looking for something to cover those scratches. It is also a more permanent solution than candle wax.

All you need to do is identify the color closest to that on your bike, clean the area then apply it to the scuffed area evenly.

You can apply several coats to make sure the scratch isn’t visible.

Products available in the market:

There are different kinds of scratch remover products available in the market which you can use apart from these home remedies.

The above tips work for minor scratches but if you have deep scratches you need to take your motorcycle to a professional or apply the specific products designed for the scratches which might be a little expensive than the ones mentioned above.

How to change the coolant in a motorcycle?

28th January 2021
"Important and easy!"

Your coolant needs periodic attention as do other devices on your bike. A lot of drivers postpone or forget coolant adjustment but it's as simple as adjusting your coolant oil, and it's necessary to keep your cooling system top.

coolant

Things needed

  • Fresh coolant
  • Manual(so you know how much to put in)
  • Distilled water for flushing
  • Screwdrivers and Allen Keys
  • Sockets or ring spanners to remove the main drain bolt
  • Drain pan to catch the coolant, and a few rags just in case
  • Funnel

How to change the coolant in a motorcycle?

  • Always start with a cold engine. You don’t want to get burned by the hot radiator.

  • Under the water pump, place your drain pan. Not sure where it's in your pump? Simply follow the hoses. Locate your coolant drain plug, usually a tiny bolt on the water pump cover at a low point, and detach it.

  • The coolant will dribble out. Unscrew the radiator cap, and it can greatly speed up the flow.

  • Check your hoses for cracks or stiffness as you wait for the old coolant to clear, and get your new coolant ready to go. Carefully read the bottle: pre-diluted coolant can go straight in, but you'll need to blend the concentrate with distilled water otherwise. Avoid the desire to use normal tap water, as the cooling machine can not play well with minerals and other garbage.

  • The reservoir tank is the last task to be flushed. Typically you want to clean some of your old coolant that is trapped inside a transparent plastic tub near the engine or on your tail.

How often should I change the coolant on my motorcycle?

Since its performance disintegrates over time, the motorcycle coolant should be adjusted at least every two years. The usual causes of this are aluminum corrosion or changes in the fluid-to-coolant ratio. The solution should be kept as alkaline as possible, which is why particular ingredients are used in most coolants to help achieve this. These, however, will be less efficient over time.

Can you put regular antifreeze in motorbike?

We advise you not to use regular/car coolants on your motorcycle because they can end up causing your bike expensive damage and even affecting its performance. If you need to use a car coolant on your bike, make sure that the antifreeze contains ethylene glycol and does not contain silicates in the ingredients mentioned.

Does motorcycle coolant go bad?

Yup! The engine refrigerant can go bad. Older fluid can cause acid accumulation, corrosion, or scaling may contaminate it and may have decreased resistance to boiling and freezing. Deteriorated coolant/antifreeze can cause your engine to run hotter than normal or prevent colder temperatures from starting the engine.

How to make your motorcycle seat more comfortable

20th December 2021
"It doesn’t matter how good of a seat your motorcycle has, eventually there will be that one time it’s going to start to get a little bit uncomfortable or bother you."

There are many things you can do to make your motorcycle fit you better, and making your motorcycle more comfortable can improve your riding experience too. It doesn’t matter how good of a seat your motorcycle has, eventually there will be that one time it’s going to start to get a little bit uncomfortable or bother you.

Here are some effective ways to make your motorcycle seat more comfortable:

Change your seat

This is the most logical and obvious solution. But it can also be the most costly.

Changing your seat will give you a chance to make sure the seat is correct for your body type.

Take the time to research and make sure you are getting the seat that is best for you and your riding style.

Air Cell Cushion

An air cell cushion might be the most expensive one that you could buy, but they are very durable and will last you a long time.

These pads were inspired by the pads they use to make sure people don’t get bedsores in hospitals, so you can rest assured that they’ll be comfortable.

You can also customize how many air cells you want in this cushion.

There should be a small valve on the side that lets you decide how high you want to sit and how firm you want the seat.

Gel Pad

Another popular type of motorcycle pad you could get is a gel pad.

Unlike the air cell pads, these are filled with gel which will help to distribute your weight a little more evenly across the seat.

They’re normally thick, heavy, and made of fabric. However, it will offer you more comfort than the hard motorcycle seats.

Take Breaks

One easy way to ease the pain is to just take breaks now and then. Whenever you come to a stopping position, just stand up for a little bit.

If your motorcycle has back pegs, you could stand up on the back of those while you’re riding.

If you don’t feel comfortable standing up, you can try switching up your positions throughout the ride.

You can sit forward, left, right, or back to help distribute some of the pressure.
