Ingredients to avoid while buying a facewash - Reviews
"Don't forget to check out the ingredients prior to the purchase."
Finding the perfect facewash with all-natural ingredients is always a struggle for any type of skin. Most of the skincare nowadays contain toxic ingredients in them which might cure one problem but at the same time will create several others. Many brands are claiming 100% natural ingredients, but don't go blindly trusting the advertisement. Do check the ingredients of the products on their label. Here are some ingredients that must be avoided while buying a facewash.
Sodium Laurel Sulphates (SLS)
You might feel all happy after having your skin squeaky clean, right? Well, you shouldn't be. There's a chance for your facewash to have sulphates in it if your face feels all clean and dry afterwards. Sulphates wash away the natural oil leaving you with dehydrated and dry skin. Natural oils are essential for your skin to avoid premature ageing. But, sulphates wipe them off making your skin all dry and flaky. So, avoid the sulphate based facewash.
Parabens
Parabens are mostly found in skincare products. Especially the parabens like Propyl-, Isopropyl-, Butyl-, and Isobutyl. They are not good for your skin and health at all. Parabens may disrupt the endocrine system and can cause reproductive and developmental disorders.
Fragrances
Who doesn't love the sweet and refreshing smell of lavender and roses? They're quite relaxing. But, have you ever given it a thought? Do you really think those beautiful smell of lavender and roses are because someone squeezed the lavender juice in the facewash? Obviously, that's not the case. Fragrances are made with the blend of synthetic chemicals that can cause allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and reproductive problem. So, it's best to avoid them. But, if you love fragrances in your skincare products, then opt for products that use essential oils and extracts for fragrance.
Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is widely used in cosmetics, paint primer, and fingernail products. Give it a thought, do you really want to use a face wash that contains an ingredient that's used in paint? Do you really want to do such a horrible thing to your face? No, right! Formaldehyde can destroy your skin’s natural protective oils, causing dry, flaky skin and may lead to allergic reactions including hives and blisters.
Alcohols
Alcohol is used to make the skincare product lightweight and help the ingredients like vitamin C and retinol to get absorbed into the skin, breaking its natural barriers. Alcohol can be helpful for people with oily and acne-prone skin, but if you have very dry skin, then avoid alcohol at all costs. Alcohols can be really drying as it breaks the skin's natural barrier.
Important Tip- Don't forget to check out the ingredients of the product before buying it. And, look out for ingredients that are hard to spell or are not familiar to you. They are the ones that extremely toxic and unhealthy for the skin. Happy skin, happy you!
