In today’s life, both men and women love makeup as it has become part of their life.
Some use it to look pretty while some of them use it to build up their confidence.
But do you know though makeup makes our skin look flawless it has too many side effects? Some of the side effects of Makeup and Cosmetic products are:
Dry or Oily Skin:
Some foundations and powders tend to dry out your skin and make it look dull and dry.
Oil-based makeup can cause your makeup to clump and crease, especially around your eyelids. Such cosmetics will leave an oily deposit that will result in a thick oily sheen.
So using an excessive amount of cosmetics and makeup leads to dry/ oily skin.
Acne:
Cosmetics like foundation and primer that even out the complexion of your skin and make your skin smooth, do this by smoothening your pores and natural blemishes.
This means that your skin is not allowed to breathe and therefore can end up causing several problems like acne. This is a common side effect of makeup that most women would have experienced.
Your skin is as much a part of your body as any other organ. It also needs to breathe and grow.
Moreover, some types of makeup which are in the form of liquids and creams clog the pores in your skin. This leads to the formation of blackheads, which when not cleaned regularly can form acne.
Allergies:
Chemicals known as Parabens which include ethyl-paraben, butyl-paraben, and isopropyl-paraben are used as preservatives to prevent bacterial growth in cosmetics.
Parabens can cause various allergic reactions like skin irritation, blotches, and blemishes on the skin.
Moreover, Cosmetics such as deodorants and antiperspirants contain alcohol and can cause redness and irritation, and itching which may eventually lead to pigmentation of the skin.
They also block your sweat glands and can lead to conditions like contact dermatitis and allergies.
Ageing:
The chemicals used in makeup contribute to the ageing of your skin because they dry out the natural oils and essential vitamins and minerals present in human skin.
When you use skin products for a longer period of time, the chemicals present tend to permanently damage your skin.
With time, you could begin to see skin ageing signs like wrinkles or patchiness on your face and body.
Eye Infections:
It’s important to remember that your eyes and the skin around them are the most sensitive area of your face.
Layers of eye makeup can be damaging to your eyes as they also slip into your eyes through the corners causing irritation.
Moreover, any kind of irritant in your eye makeup can cause severe harm to your eyes. It can even lead to an eye infection.
