Reasons why your skincare might not be working

2nd January 2022
"Have you ever wondered why you aren’t seeing results from your skin care regimen? Or why you’re breaking out all of a sudden?"

Have you ever wondered why you aren’t seeing results from your skin care regimen? Or why you’re breaking out all of a sudden? It might be because you’re making some skincare mistakes without even being aware of them.

Here are the skincare mistakes that might help you to fix them in the future:

Over Washing Your Face

Some people seem to hold the belief that over-cleansing their face will bring them faster results, or help with their acne, or speed up the healing of their skin.

Whatever the case might be, over-washing your face is never a good idea, regardless of the circumstances.

When you over-clean your face using harsh cleansers or face soap, you’re stripping the top layer of skin which has a protective function and which is crucial for maintaining skin health and a glowing complexion.

Not Knowing Your Skin Type

Another very common mistake people tend to make is using the wrong products for their skin because they don’t know which skin type their skin belongs to.

This mistake is so common because determining your correct skin type is not an easy task. There are a few skin types, but somehow all of them seem interchangeable.

If you have dry skin, try going for products that are labeled for dry skin and which declare to provide extra moisture on the packaging.

If you have sensitive and acne-prone skin, stay away from ingredients such as oils, alcohols, and fragrances.

These will irritate your skin and possibly cause you to break out, which is the last thing you’d want.

Your environment has changed

Many factors including climate, air conditioning, hard water, and central heating can have an impact on your skin.

You may want to consider more hydrating products in winter when cold air and wind can dry out your skin, and use a higher factor of SPF in summer when the sunlight is stronger.

Overdoing the DIY Products

Not all skin care products can be made at home using natural ingredients.

Just because a product is labeled natural, it doesn’t mean that it will help your skin.

The claim that natural ingredients help a certain group of people is true, but that group might not include you.

You’ll get yourself in a messy skin situation that could’ve been easily avoided.

Some of these products which are often suggested are so harsh that they might burn and irritate our skin, or even cause itchiness and an allergic reaction.

You Might Be Layering Products the Wrong Way

Even though you have sorted out a regimen with products that suit your skin type, layering them the wrong way can reduce the efficacy of the products.

It might also result in breakouts or inflammation. Therefore, it’s important to know the right order of applying skincare products.

For beginners, the lightest texture goes first followed by the heavy ones like face oil and moisturizer.

These are best for the days when you want to stand out without having all eyes staring at you. You can wear these to office parties or even on outings. There are numerous types of drop earrings from simple drop earrings, pearl drop earrings, gold drop earrings, and diamond drop earrings.

Hoop earrings

Hoops are commonly used and are pretty much on the trend nowadays. They are large circular and oval-shaped earrings that do not touch the earlobe. It's best to have minimalistic hoop earrings that are not too tacky and traditional. Hoop earrings are best suitable for casual wear. Also, make sure to get the cheaper ones so that you can keep on changing your styles with newer hoop earrings.

Jhumka

Jhumkas are best for traditional wear. If you are a south-Asian person, you never know which relative's wedding you may have to attend without getting time to prepare. Jhumkas are essential for every traditional occasion. You must have a jhumka either made up of gold or gold-plated, or silver or silver-plated. There are tons of designs available. You can choose one that matches your kurthi, or saree, or lehenga

Ear cuffs

Ear cuffs are unique among the earrings on the list. Most of the earrings on the list are sort of drop earrings, the ear cuff, however, is unique as it is worn on the outer ear. It gives an illusion of multiple piercings and can be worn by people with no piercings as well. You can let your ear cuffs complement your casual wear with skirts as well.

Things to do while self-isolation for women

19th December 2021
"We may not have a corona cure, but we sure do have some boredom relief to see you through self-isolation with fun, productivity, and home improvement"

Like many of us, you may have found yourself self-isolated due to the COVID-19 chaos. We may not have a corona cure, but we sure do have some boredom relief to see you through self-isolation with fun, productivity, and home improvement.

Establish a routine

It’s easy to feel like you are in a rut when there is no structure to the day. Having a plan for the day with clear tasks can keep you and your day on track.

Start by having a set time for getting up in the morning, going to bed at night, and mealtimes.

Not only will this help maintain focus throughout the day, but it will also be good for physical and mental health.

The body will get into a rhythm that will lead to much better sleep and wellbeing.

Gentle exercise and meditation

Incorporating exercise into your daily routine is important when self-isolating at home.

This is particularly important because we aren’t getting the same exercise and body movements we would usually get when out and about.

Block out time in your schedule each day or a few times a week depending on your ability and energy levels.

Gentle workouts are just as effective so experiment to find what works best for you.

Stretches, seated yoga, breathing exercises, or a walk around the house a few times can be all that’s needed to boost your mood, increase energy levels and reduce stress.

Healthy eating

Since we are spending a lot more time at home now, it is a great time to make those delicious recipes you never found time to make before.

Healthy eating is a great way to boost your immune system and keep it working well.

Eating a range of healthy foods for a balanced diet will provide vital vitamins, minerals, and nutrients which will keep you feeling strong and healthy.

This will also complement the daily exercise to maintain physical and mental health.

Make time for you and the things you enjoy

It’s normal to feel anxious and scared during these uncertain times.

So it’s important to look after your mental health and dedicate time each day to doing things you enjoy to help you relax.

This may be speaking to loved ones, writing your thoughts down in a journal, crafting, and reading, baking, or watching your favorite TV shows.
