Nepal Telecom 4G Service Reaches All Districts

1st December 2020
"Nepal Telecom now provides 4G coverage to all 77 districts expanded to remote hilly and mountainous areas like the Rara, Mustang, Jumla, Bajhang, and many more."

The 4G expansion of Ntc which started in October 2019 with the presence of the Prime Minister has now reached all 77 districts with more than 2500 towers. The 77th district with Ntc 4G coverage was Humla. As per Latest Information, Nepal Telecom 4G has reached 596 local bodies of Nepal. Nepal Telecom started 4G service back in 2017 from Kathmandu and Pokhara only, being the first telecom service provider to launch 4G in Nepal.

With the expansion of the 4G network to a huge area, Nepal Telecom increases its 4G customers significantly by more than 30 lakhs in a matter of around 4 months’ time. During the soft launch in October, the 4G customer base was just 8 lakhs. Ntc has a 4G subscription of around 70 lakhs, who can use the 4G service at any time.

Nepal Telecom has been using two different spectrum bands for the 4G LTE network which are 1800 MHz and 800 MHz.NTC 4G service is available through the band of 800 MHz in areas with relatively low population density and wide geography and 1,800 MHz in areas with high population density. In addition to the company's network access, the mobile set can use both the 800 MHz and 1,800 MHz bands.

"According to the characteristics of the mobile service, the quality of service will be directly affected by the geographical and terrestrial conditions, said Rajesh Joshi, spokesperson of Nepal Telecom.

Nepal Telecom now provides 4G coverage to all 77 districts. After the operation of Simikot tower (the district headquarters of Humla district), the Ntc 4G signal reaches all districts. Earlier the 4G network coverage was focused on major cities and areas in the Hilly and Terai area. But now Ntc has expanded 4G to remote hilly and mountainous areas like the Rara, Mustang, Jumla, Bajhang, and many more.

As Ntc provides 4G in two spectrum bands, namely 1800 MHz and 800 MHz, we suggest you check before buying a compatible mobile that supports both bands. This is a mandatory thing when you require a 4G connection even when you reach remote areas.

It is due to this 4G coverage expansion, people are able to attend online meetings, online classes, and work from home, even from distant locations. Now Nepal Telecom has also made the Happy learning pack available for all, that you can purchase without any registration.

Online Learning Effect Electronic Device Usage to Rise

15th August 2020
"Usage of video-conferencing apps like Zoom, Google Meet, etc. increases by more than 10 times."

Online or distance education, simply, is the teaching and learning process done via different online medium be it audio conference, video conference, articles, etc. Its history goes way back to 1982 when Western Behavioral Sciences Institute, California exercised computer conferencing to provide first ever online college programs. Later on, along with the development in technology and internet browsers, online education via video and audio conferences, videos, websites and articles evolved.

Various universities and colleges throughout the world have been offering online education in one form or another for a long time. Even though distance learning was introduced decades ago, it popularized largely after the entire world underwent lockdown due to the fear of contagious spread of COVID-19, a lethal virus, and students had to study from home.

After pandemic, the online education system replaced the traditional educational system. The imposition of lockdown prohibited people from going out except for urgent cases; so, physical educational system were replaced by online system. Classes, assignments, lectures, discussions, projects, research, examinations and everything had to be done and submitted online; as a result, the use of electronic gadgets like Smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop, etc. escalated. People from all around the world, especially students, teachers and workers, had an increase in their screentime be it in smartphones or laptops or desktop. The usage of e-gadgets surged along with people's dependency on it for official and personal purpose.

Along with the use of electronic gadgets, the use of various video-conferencing applications like Zoom, Google Meet, etc. on which the classes were conducted increased by more than ten times.

However, experts believe that increase in screen time of students from an elementary level child to an university level student may lead to various health related problems. Some of the major health issues that have resulted are eye strain, technostress, frustration, dullness, etc. Thereupon, they have suggested students to try and reduce their screentime as much as possible and try to engage themselves in something non-digital.
