Simple Home maintenance Checklists

22nd December 2021
"Regular maintenance of your home can help prevent costly repairs over time."

Regular maintenance of your home can help prevent costly repairs over time.

Regular maintenance, involving tasks that need to be handled monthly and annually, should not be overlooked.

Here are some basic home maintenance tips that might help you:

Paint over cracks

Let’s face it when it comes to houses, most of us judge a book by its cover.

Always check the internal and external walls for cracks or peeling paint.

Give a fresh coat to prevent damage to the structure of your home.

Over time, the paint on your home can start to wear from rain, wind, and sun damage.

Moreover, giving your house a new coat every few years can help keep it looking new for a long time.

Clear your drains

Always make sure you tackle any slow drains in your home before they become clogged.

It’s better to snake the drain with a wire hanger or clog remover tool, rather than use drain cleaner, which can be hard on your pipes.

Trim up the trees

We can observe branches growing too close to your home or power lines.

Those long branches need to be cut down from time to time as this will not only help maintain your tree health but prevent any damages from fallen limbs during storms.

Clean out refrigerator coils

To keep your favorite cooling appliances running smoothly, add vacuuming out your refrigerator’s coils to your deep clean.

All you need to do is simply remove the cover and vacuum out dust and debris which is located at the bottom of the fridge.

Clean washing machine

If you notice any signs of mold, mildew, or foul odors when you load and unload your laundry, it’s time for you to clean your washing machine.

Use a strong machine cleaner that is able to remove all the scaling without damaging the metal and plastic parts of the appliance.

Also, you should regularly clean the rubber gasket with a damp cloth.

Home hacks that will Solve your Household Problems

1st December 2021
"Are you tired of a simple problem in your home which needs a big solution?"

Are you tired of a simple problem in your home which needs a big solution? Here we have a list of simple home hacks which is a great solution for the common household problem:

Unclog a stuck drain with coffee.

Do you know coffee grounds can be mixed with dish soap and boiling water to unclog drains?

You just need to mix the grounds with soap and add the mixture into your drain, following it up with a lengthy pour of boiling water, the combination of which will break up whatever's clogging your pipes.

Remove small scratches on furniture with toothpaste.

We all end up with small scratches in the finishes of our furniture from time to time. So to get rid of the small scratches you just need toothpaste!

Using a pea-sized amount of non-gel paste, rub the scratch in a circular motion until it buffs out, and then clean the remainder with a damp towel. Then, see the shine in your furniture!!

Remove candle wax from the furniture with ice cubes.

If you ever spill candle wax on a piece of furniture then don’t lose your calm. Instead, fill a plastic bag with ice cubes, place it over the wax, and let it sit for a few minutes.

Once the wax has sufficiently cooled and hardened, you can pick it up easily without ruining your furniture's finish or fabric. Easy right?

Use vinegar to get odors out of your microwave.

If your microwave is smelling like a rotten fish, there's a simple way to get it clean and odor-free without using harsh chemicals.

You just place a bowl of vinegar in the microwave for around five minutes and simply wipe it afterward and the odor is gone!

Wrap a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser to avoid overuse.

Are you tired of your children overusing the soaps and handwash?

Don’t worry! Just wrapping a rubber band around the neck of a soap dispenser will slow its flow, meaning you'll get an appropriate amount of soap with every pump and won't run through an entire bottle each week. Trick your children!!

Bad Household Habits to Stop Now

12th December 2021
"Home is the place we live throughout our life and in order to make our environment healthy, our home should be kept clean and healthy."

Home is the place we live throughout our life and in order to make our environment healthy, our home should be kept clean and healthy.

We all have bad habits and among them in this article, we will talk about different types of household habits that should be stopped right now:

Rinsing food down the sink

Washing away excess food down the sink before doing the dishes is an easy habit to get into but this is a really bad habit that can clog up your drain and cause blockages.

Instead, scrape any leftover food into the bin before washing the dishes – it might be more time-consuming, but it’s better than dealing with the sink filled with foods.

Leaving dishes to soak in the sink

Dishes

We all have a habit of leaving dishes in the sink for a long time. Leaving dishes in there for too long can allow the bacteria to grow on those.

Bacteria that you will be consuming later on. So to avoid this you really need to stop this habit of leaving dishes in the sink for a long period of time.

Painting over rusty railings

Rust

Another habit we have is painting over the rust. If the railings in your garden or balcony are starting to rust, applying a fresh coat of paint directly over them won’t solve the problem.

This is because rust prevents new paint from taking hold, so you’ll need to scrape it off and start from scratch.

Not cleaning the TV remote

Remote

This one is all too easy to forget but when you think about the number of times your TV remote is touched every day, it makes sense to clean it every week or on alternative days.

All you need to do is remove the batteries, then use a cloth and rubbing alcohol to clean all over the remote. If there’s dirt wedged in the gaps around the buttons, use a toothpick to remove it.

Not wiping door handles

Door handles

When we clean our homes, we forget about the door handles. It is constantly used throughout the day and touched by every family member so it might carry harmful microbes.

It is obvious that diseases bacteria transfer from one person to another. You need to keep germs in check by remembering to disinfect your door handles at the end of every day.

Forgetting to clean stove knobs

This is the most neglected thing by us. We all need to keep in mind that the dials are regularly splattered with food and touched frequently between preparations.

So it is very necessary to give them a thorough clean. All you need to do is remove the knobs and wash them in hot soapy water.
