Tips for sunburn relief

22nd December 2021
"Your skin can burn if it gets too much sun without proper protection from sunscreen and clothes."

Your skin can burn if it gets too much sun without proper protection from sunscreen and clothes. To help heal and soothe stinging skin, it is important to begin treating sunburn as soon as you notice it.

Sunburns cause water to be drawn to the surface of your skin from the rest of the body. This can result in dehydration.

Plus, you have probably lost water by being out in the heat and sun.

Make sure you are drinking extra water and some liquids to replenish your body’s fluids and salts.

Cool Down

As soon as you realize that you have sunburn, get out of the sun and start getting your skin cooled down.

If you are near a body of water, take a quick dip.

Then, as you continue to experience discomfort from your sunburn, take cool baths and showers.

Adding some baking soda or oatmeal to a cool bath can provide some extra relief. You can also apply cool compresses to your skin.

Lotions and gels soothe the skin and help protect it as it heals.

Apply moisturizer to your skin right after you get out of the bath and shower while your skin is still damp.

Make sure to continue to moisturize if your skin starts to peel.

The lotion will help prevent further peeling and soothe your raw-feeling skin.

Use Aloe Vera

100% aloe vera gel directly from a plant can provide a lot of comfort to your stinging skin.

Don’t go for lotions that have aloe in them -- typically the amount of aloe in a lotion or cream isn’t enough to be beneficial.

Not only does aloe help with the inflammation of sunburn, but it also helps moisturize the skin and reduce peeling.

Wear Loose Clothing

You want to minimize the amount of potential irritation to your sensitive skin.

Wearing loose clothing will help your skin feel better and heal more quickly.

You should also wear clothing over your sunburn so you don’t further damage your skin.

Dark or brightly-colored clothing does a better job of keeping the rays off your skin than white or light-colored fabric.

Treat the Itching

You may experience itching from your sunburn, especially if your skin starts peeling.

You can apply an itching relief cream to your sunburn for relief.

Like the aloe vera gel, keep the ointment in the fridge so it feels even better as you rub it on.

You may also want to take an oral to soothe your itchy skin.

Natural weight loss tips for women

Diet and exercise may be key components of weight loss for women, but many other factors play a role.

To lose weight, your system wants balance, not extremes. When you can achieve healthy balance all around, your weight will often take care of itself.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking more water is an easy and effective way to promote weight loss with minimal effort. Start your day with two big glasses of water.

That means before you have your coffee or tea, well before you eat breakfast, and as close to the beginning of your day as possible.

The actual amount will vary from person to person, but try to consume at least a liter of water upon waking.

Eat More

So many women's weight-loss tips focus on counting calories and limiting the intake of unhealthy foods.

While reducing your intake can certainly help you lose weight in the short term, it’s not going to be very fun when it comes to keeping it off.

Living a low-calorie lifestyle that focuses exclusively on eating less doesn’t work! Instead, focus on eating more.

Fruits and veggies are full of fiber, water, and micronutrients that will help your body feel satiated.

If you make an effort to eat more of them, you’ll automatically end up eating less of the unhealthy foods.

Walking is one of the most effective exercises for weight loss. The best part is that walking can be done while doing other things, making the best use of your time.

You don’t have to commit to walking for hours each day.

Try to get out for a 20-minute walk in the morning and another in the afternoon or evening and you’ll be burning hundreds of extra calories, improving your overall fitness, and getting some very important time outdoors.

Prioritize Your Sleep

Sleep is crucial to your health. It supports nearly every bodily function and can help keep stress hormones that lead to fat storage at bay so that your body doesn’t stash away as much of the food you’re eating as adipose tissue.

Sleep also affects the hormones that regulate hunger and satiety.

That means that regularly sleeping 8-9 hours could be a major contributor to your weight loss and an all-natural appetite suppressant.

Get Your Protein

Eating more protein can help you lose weight. Try having smaller amounts of protein with every meal.

Eat some Greek yogurt or a few eggs in the morning for breakfast. You can also add fish, chicken, or other lean protein to a salad for lunch for a more filling meal.

By regularly eating smaller portions of protein, you’ll stay fuller longer and be less apt to snack outside of mealtimes.
