Cockroaches are undoubtedly a big problem for everyone! Are you tired of cockroaches in your kitchen and even in the fridge? Cockroaches are not only carriers of diseases but are also indicative of an unhygienic environment.
In this article we have listed some of the home remedies to protect your refrigerator/fridge/ home from cockroaches:
Baking Soda
Baking soda is the best ingredient to keep cockroaches away. A concoction of baking soda and sugar is an effective cockroach killer and controls multiplication.
Moreover, Sugar acts as a bait to attract cockroaches and the baking soda is acidic in nature, so it kills and removes insects and bugs effectively. All you need to do is to identify their hideouts and sprinkle this mixture in the corners of the fridge.
In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 tablespoon of white sugar. Mix well and dust the mixture in the cockroach-infested areas.
Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
Bay leaves are found in every Nepalese kitchen. Bay leaves have a very strong odor so the strong odor is hard for cockroaches to tolerate, that’s why we can use it to get rid of them.
All you need to do is crush some bay leaves and sprinkle them in the fridge.
Alternatively, you can boil some leaves and spray the water in infected corners. Repeat this every time you see them coming and in a couple of weeks cockroaches will leave your refrigerator.
Peppermint Oil Spray
Essential oils can be used differently especially in skincare But did you know that you can use them as a cockroach killer, too? Peppermint oil is one of the most effective essential oils for keeping cockroaches away.
Moreover, they remove them in the best way possible, without actually killing them, which is great since we have to use them in the refrigerator. All you need to do is make a mixture of saltwater and peppermint oil and spray it on the corners of your fridge.
Alternatively, you can also take a spray bottle, fill it half with water and 20-25 drops of peppermint oil and spray the solution in all the corners you suspect cockroaches.
Neem
Neem oil or powder contains potent components that can kill cockroaches or keep them away.
All you need to do is mix a small amount of neem oil with water in a spray bottle and spray it in the corner of your fridge.
However, if you are using neem powder, all you need to do is sprinkle it in cockroach-infested areas at night and repeat the process in the morning.
In conclusion, there are several chemicals found in the market but you should be very careful before using them because the fridge contains food!
