HOW TO MAKE YOUR FURNITURE LAST LONGER?

10th November 2020
"Prevent your furniture from early obsolence."

Who doesn't want a clean and classy living room decorated with beautiful furniture? And, who won't wish the vibe and beautiful furniture units to last a little longer, right? Our homes speak volumes about our lifestyles and personalities in entirety. Because of the thriving interior industry, we can now treat our homes with elegant furniture. Maintaining the furniture can be really hard work. And, if you are more of a careless person, your furniture units may not last a longer period of time. If you wish to keep your furniture units for a longer period of time, make sure to follow the following steps.

Move and place carefully

You need to take care of your furniture like a baby, especially while placing or moving it. Do not drag, pull, or push the furniture as it may damage the furniture and wither the woods at the bottom. If possible, do not move your furniture often, and even if you do, be careful not to harm your furniture.

Clean timely

You must clean your furniture often, to keep it free from bacteria as well as obsolescence. Make sure to use effective products that won't harm the furniture in any way. It's best to use steam vacuuming on old furniture to give them a new-like look. And, also, you can make your own home-made detergent or cleaning agent clean your furniture.

Slipcovers

Invest in slipcovers to cover your furniture. Especially for sofas, if they are covered properly, you won't have to worry about staining and ruining the inside cotton and fabrics of the sofa if you mistakenly spill noodles in it. Also, with different designs, colors, and patterns on the slipcovers, you can make your furniture look more attractive and beautiful.

Check for scratches

Scratches worsen along with time and won't go away on their own. If your furniture has any scratches, you can simply get rid of the scratches with masks and claw marks.

Paint and refurbish

Your furniture may be in its best condition but look dull and dingy. If this is the case with your furniture, you can paint, or varnish your furniture to give it a new look and make it more attractive and complementary to your room.

Avoid liquid spill

Well everyone may be familiar with the concept that- liquid spill damages your furniture. If you are not, then you should be acknowledged with this. Always be careful with liquids around your furniture. If it's water-proof, then you may easily wipe it off. However, if it is a spongy cushion with cotton cover, then too sad- you got to get yourself a new one. Moreover, use coasters while you place the beverages or glass on your furniture to avoid the liquid stain of the glass.

Avoid direct sunlight

As a cigarette is to lungs, and chemicals are to land- sunlight is to furniture. Furniture's condition worsens if placed in direct contact with the sun. So, it's best to place your furniture in the shade or cover them up with slips and quilts, if sunlight cannot be avoided. Just keep in mind that furniture is vulnerable to sunlight and try to prevent the furniture from sunlight.

Do not place hot dishwares directly

Placing hot dishware in your dinings may ruin the furniture. Hot dishware is powerful enough to damage a cemented slab- so, try to avoid direct contact of hot dishwares with the furniture.

Elements of Interior Design | REVIEWS

12th November 2020
"Know the elements of interior design and help yourself own a house that you'll never be bored of."

What pops into your mind when you think of interior design? Creativity? Elegance? Well, mostly creativity is highly essential for an interior designer. But, did you know they blend their creativity with a few principles and elements of interior design? There are few elements of interior design and keeping them balanced is the key to a beautifully and perfectly designed house. If you gain knowledge about these elements, you can design your house with the help of a designer into something that you'll never bore you.

Space

Functional space, the most important element of interior design, is the base of the entire interior design. Both users and designers should be well aware of the availability of the space and its purpose. Space can be positive and negative i.e. a space that will be used to place the furniture and a space that will be empty like hallways respectively. The positive and negative space must be balanced as too crowded or too empty space can make the look of your house/ office unappealing and tacky.

Color

Colors bring life and vibrance even to non-living things and help to bring balance to our life. The choice of colors can have a huge impact on you, psychologically. Each color has three distinctive aspects-  Hue, Value, and Intensity. A good interior designer must be well aware of these three aspects to perform all kind of pairing combinations of the colors. A good designer must know what kind of colors will go with the bedroom wall and what kind of colors will suit the living room- providing the user with a happy and stable mindset.

Texture and pattern

Pattern and textures bring an appealing look to a room. A pattern is created by the use of a repetitive design and can be found in wallpaper, soft furnishings, rugs, and fabrics. Patterns come in various types, such as stripes, geometric, pictorial, organic, motif, and animal prints. Different texture or patterns add depth to space together and uplift the vibe and appearance of the room. One must remember to always strike a balance with the overall composition of the space and patterns without being too much or too little. Moreover, with a beautifully designed textured carpet, your room may get the weathered or vintage feel without even touching it.

Light

Be it natural, or artificial, light helps us and other things in our room shine to its full potential. Light can have a major impact on the mood and aura within the space. Light can be broken into the categories of task lighting (defined purpose), accent lighting (emphasizing objects), and mood lighting (adding ambiance). Artificial lighting can be of different types and be of different uses; however, it cannot beat the natural, eco-friendly light. If the owner or designer could integrate the natural lighting source design into the building then it would be the best design.

Style

The interior designs of the house are always chosen by the owner. It often represents the personality of the owner. Who wouldn't like every wall of the house and every furniture decorated in the house to have a theme, right? The style is chosen by the owner often makes the theme of the house. For instance, a minimalistic person chooses a minimalistic design with everything in the house from walls to fixtures. Whereas, a person who loves classical design may go after more sophisticated designs and details.
