There are several varieties of wheel rims, each with its own set of care requirements.
Here are some of them for cleaning rims with household items rather than soap and water or chemicals.
Alloy Rims
Using a heavy-duty oven cleaner, remove stubborn oil and grime from alloy rims. Oven cleaner is powerful enough to remove oil, rust, water, and mineral stains.
Wait the set time after coating your rims with the cleaner before washing with a soft bristle brush and water. To dry, use a soft microfiber cloth.
Oven cleaner is both irritating and harmful. Wear appropriate protective clothing and thoroughly clean the area after using the cleaner.
Aluminum Rims
Remove road dirt, oil, and tar with a degreaser and cleansers such as dish soap and baking soda! Mix your dish detergent with equal parts water and clean your rims using a soft cloth. Then sprinkle baking soda on the rough side of a sponge and go over your rims again, and finally rinse off.
However, be cautious since baking soda and the rough side of the sponge are harsh and may harm your rims.
Chrome Rims
White vinegar is an excellent cleaning solution for chrome rims! White vinegar is effective in removing streaks, stains, and tarnish by cutting through dirt and oil.
All you need to do is use equal parts of white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spray your rims with it. After a good coating, go in with a clean microfiber cloth and wipe off the solution.
If you're not sure what your rims are made of, you can always clean them with soap and water.
