Tips for Taking Care of Your Home during the Monsoon Season

14th June 2022
"Not only do you need to keep an umbrella with you at all times during the season of sudden downpours, but you also need to secure your home."

The monsoon has arrived, and rains have been pouring in your city for a while. Not only do you need to keep an umbrella with you at all times during the season of sudden downpours, but you also need to secure your home.

Here are some of the ways for keeping your home dry and secure:

Waterproofing and painting

Check the roof, terrace, and balconies for leakages and provide a coat of waterproof layer for additional protection.

To ensure smooth drainage of water collected, the drains should be cleaned to ensure a smooth outflow of the water. This will help in preventing clogging.

Ensure that all your house painting work is completed before the advent of the monsoon. Waterproof paints work best for the outer walls as they help in giving additional protection against water seepage.

Check electrical fittings and connections

Any electrical connection on the exterior of the house and in danger of being exposed to the rain should be provided with adequate cover.

You may want to get your electrical fittings checked by an electrician to avoid any chances of electrical shock or short-circuit.

Make your home safer with simple precautions like covering the electrical fittings and connections properly.

Protect wooden furniture:

Nowadays, wooden furniture, floor, and furnishings are quite a in vogue. They lend a trendy look to your home while also looking vintage and artistic.

However, as we all know, maintenance and upkeep of the same can be quite tedious. To keep it looking beautiful and shiny, try to keep it away from any wet artifact or even clothes.

Wipe with a dry cloth or vacuum to clean it. Polish and coat the surface with new varnish if old.

Ensure AC Maintenance:

The humidity level goes up in the monsoon season and as such sitting in the comfort of an AC seems ideal and much-needed.

The dryness of the air and adequate cooling ensure that you remain comfortable. Thus, cleaning and maintenance of the AC are critical in the rains.

Not doing so can have several adverse effects including electrical troubles and rising costs of electricity.

Perks of regular home maintenance

14th January 2022
"Like your car or body, your home, too, does require regular maintenance to help keep it in good condition."

Like your car or body, your home, too, does require regular maintenance to help keep it in good condition. However, staying caught up on them can prevent costly repairs and larger problems in the future.

Here are some reasons why home maintenance is extremely important for you and your family:

Saves money

Routine home checks can save you a lot of money. However, regularly checking the condition of your roof (or any area in your home, for that matter) can save you money in the end.

Routine maintenance is a great way to avoid issues from occurring before they happen as you can fix small problems before they become large problems.

Improve home safety

Home and yard maintenance increases the security of your property and home.

Home invasions can occur at any time; it’s smart to maintain home security.

By maintaining your yard and property appropriately each season, you can protect your home and safeguard your family.

By maintaining your home’s maintenance and auto repairs you can be confident that you will be doing your best to keep your family safe inside your home.

Boost Your Home’s Value

Like any other purchase, your home is considered a significant investment.

Whether you are looking to sell it soon or in the coming years, one thing you would want is the best return for your effort and money.

Homes with upgrades and renovations can have gains that raise their value. Maintain your home!

Homes with fresh paint, crack-free driveways, and well-kept yards are more desirable.

Enhances quality of home life

A broken water heater or AC unit can put a huge dent in your quality of life at home.

Checking your AC unit annually and changing the filter in your water heater saves you money, prevents long-term damage, greatly improves the quality of your daily life at home, and keeps your home functioning properly.

No one wants to shower in cold water or come home to a hot house in the middle of summer.

Things To Do Immediately If There's a Gas Leak In Your Home

28th January 2022
"Natural gas is both safe and convenient when properly installed and used. However, gas leaks can happen."

Natural gas is both safe and convenient when properly installed and used. However, gas leaks can happen.

Here are a few things to do when you have gas leaks in your home:

Turn off all electrical appliances

Avoid using any electrical switches or igniting any flames, including turning on a light switch.

Make sure you've switched off the stove as well, and don't even consider smoking indoors.

Evacuate

If you notice or suspect a gas leak, the first and most crucial thing you should do is get out. It cannot be emphasized enough: IMMEDIATELY LEAVE THE PREMISES!

A gas leak is a hazardous situation that can result in carbon monoxide poisoning or perhaps worse...much, much worse.

Ventilate

Open all external doors and windows as soon as possible to allow the gas to disperse as quickly as possible.

This won’t eliminate the dangers of a gas leak, but it might help. If you are able, throw open as many doors and windows as you can while evacuating the building.

But this should only be contemplated if doing so doesn’t substantially increase your exposure to the gas leak.

Open what you can, but your first priority should be leaving the building entirely.

Call for professional help

Do not attempt to solve the situation alone; instead, get professional assistance as soon as possible.
