Dhaatu Nepal’s first and only premium copperware brand

7th February 2021
"It recycles the country’s e-waste into wonderful wellness products like water tumblers, bottles, and carafes in pure copper thereby providing employment to underprivileged artisans and also reviving the dying metal craft of Nepal."

Dhaatu is Nepal’s 1st premium copperware brand following the circular economy model. Rooted in Nepali heritage, shaped by ancient wisdom, and adapted to modern sensibilities Dhaatu creates a line of products celebrating simple and mindful living.

Dhaatu envisions reviving traditions from where they originated centuries ago and those that have immense utility in our day to day lives.

Through handcrafted pieces, we strive to keep alive this ancestral art of metal crafting of Nepal. Undoubtedly Dhaatu breathes life into the legacy of Nepal’s master craftsmen “Tamrakars” – by teaching them new techniques to beat the malleable metal into modern high utility products sitting in the terrains of the Himalayas.

Even today walking through the small alleyways in the city visitors can train their ears to the sound of small hammers, tapping metal using ancient techniques of hammering, and sand-casting that have been carefully preserved over the last many centuries.

Raising the sustainability bar

Dhaatu attempts to reach a growing number of domestic and international consumers who value high-quality local products with a purpose.

Though it aspires to contemporize the age-old craft of Nepal it primarily focuses on creating modern useful products that are created responsibly. Dhaatu follows the model of a circular economy where turning “Waste to wellness” is the heart of all its creations.

The creation process begins with the collection of metal scrap from across the country and traditionally sorting and melting the alloys to make pure metal sheets. These sheets are then hand beaten, and shaped through various stages by the artisans to create gorgeous tumblers, glasses, and bottles of pure copper.

Through this, they create value by upcycling the tons of e-waste that is piling up in the country and has no solution of being disposed off. Hence addressing the challenge of electronic waste disposal is their small initiative towards a cleaner Nepal.

Along with focusing on green living, Dhaatu, directly or indirectly, provides livelihood to more than 120 artisans from nearby villages and is working to ameliorate the heritage metalcraft of Nepal. Hence through this, they address the need of bringing highly skilled metal-working artisans into the economic mainstream.

Dhaatu’s impact trail is not over yet! Their finest creations are not just gorgeous to hold and see, they are packed with wellness benefits helping the consumers incorporate simple ayurvedic rituals in their daily lives.

Hence Dhaatu completes the circle of “Better Me, Better You, Better Us” throughout its creation process.

What looks good should also do good

Dhaatu strives to revive ancient ayurvedic wisdom through functional design. Ayurveda proves that storing water in a copper vessel (preferably overnight) creates a natural purification process. It has anti-bacterial, anti-carcinogenic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps neutralize toxins and is a fantastic immunity booster

Dhaatu Cupper products Nepal

Along with being a plastic alternative, Dhaatu’s copper drinkware line of products are lightweight, steeped in ayurvedic health benefits, designed to prevent premature tarnishing, and are reasonably priced.

Whether you’re looking for non-plastic alternatives for your own use or for gifting premium Nepal-made products with a purpose Dhaatu is just the brand for you.

Dhaatu products are available across multiple platforms online and are also stocked by souvenir shops across the country.

Reecha Sharma- My skin care routine is pretty normal and simple

21st November 2020
"My skincare routine is very simple and normal."

Reecha Sharma is a semi-finalist of the Miss Nepal 2007 pageant who started her journey as a model, later starred in many Nepali movies, hosted in TV shows, and currently, she is a producer as well. She shines wherever she goes with her confidence complemented by her glowing flawless skin. We recently had a short interview with her where she shared her secret and steps for attaining glowing skin like hers.

In the interview, we asked her if she could share her skincare routine and steps she usually follows to keep her skin beautiful and glowing. She gladly shared her skincare routine with us mentioning that her skin is dry and her skincare routine is pretty normal and simple. During that short interview, I realized that she is so humble and down-to-earth as a person.

"My skincare routine is very simple and normal; I would say.” She began,” Every day before going to bed, I put on some coconut oil. I've been using cold-pressed virgin coconut oil for the past one year and it has really changed my skin. Also, I clean my face with micellar water every evening. Even when I don't put on any makeup, I clean my face with water and then apply micellar water. Normally, I don't use much face wash but only at times when my face doesn't feel cleansed enough, I wash my face with a face wash. Before going out, I always apply sunscreen and moisturizer. It is a must for me. Also, I keep dabbing sunscreen in between as it helps and protects my skin from the sun."

"During the avocado season, I apply avocado and yogurt as a mask every week to keep my face hydrated and moisturized." She says, “Then, I scrub my face with a scrub made up of ayurvedic herbs, and then, I apply Lavanya's ayurvedic moisturizer."

As she mentioned coconut oil has changed her skin, I couldn’t help myself and got really curious about how it changed her skin as I’d never heard anyone applying coconut oil in their face. But after listening to her, I felt that coconut oil is a cure for dry skin to prevent tightness and to keep one’s skin hydrated.

She responded - "I had very dry skin before. I used to do body massage with coconut oil; so, I wanted to try it on my face. And I started doing that. I used to have really dry and flaky skin. I also used to get a lot of pimples. But, I liked cleaning my face with it. And it really started getting really shiner and soft. Since then, I couldn't stop using it."
