Perfect Manicure tips you can do at home

3rd February 2022
"Whether you're trying to save money, can't get to the salon, or simply prefer to DIY, knowing how to give yourself a proper manicure is a useful skill to have."

Whether you're trying to save money, can't get to the salon, or simply prefer to DIY, knowing how to give yourself a proper manicure is a useful skill to have.

When you do your manicure, here are some tips to keep your nails looking perfect:

Prepare Your Nails

Before you begin your manicure, make sure you thoroughly wash your hands.

Then, using a tissue and nail polish remover, wipe each nail to ensure that any leftover nail polish is removed.

You can use a cotton ball, but it contains lint and leaves a residue, so wipe your nails again with a tissue or paper towel.

Clip, file, and buff

If necessary, clip your nails first. Then file gently in one direction to achieve square, round, or somewhere in between tips.

Hold the file flush against your nail and tilt it slightly underneath to file. Finally, buff the tops of your nails using the larger grit side of a nail buffer.

Buff any edges and even out any ridges on the nail surface with unidirectional strokes.

Push Your Cuticles Back

Using your fingertips, rub cuticle oil directly on your cuticle, then gently but firmly push the cuticle back to reveal the nail plate.

This gives the appearance of a longer nail. Avoid cutting your cuticles and instead gently push them back.

If you cut your nails incorrectly, you risk further breakage, rips, and tears, as well as an infection in the nail bed.

The cuticle of healthy nails should not be broken and should not be cut.

Apply a base coat and your color

Apply one layer of base coat to the nail in light, even strokes.

Make sure you don't put too much on each nail and wait for one to two minutes for it to dry.

Allow one minute for the base coat to dry. Apply a coat of your chosen color to your nail, making sure to get the brush all the way down to the cuticle and into the corners.

Don't go overboard with the paint and don't worry if it's not perfect—you can always add another layer.

Add a Top Coat

Finally, you'll want to use a good top coat polish to help seal your color, make it shine, and keep it from chipping.

When applying your top coat, be careful because a sloppy app can ruin your entire manicure.

It gives your nails a salon-like shine while keeping them healthy and your masterpiece undamaged.

Healthy eating and diet tips for women

5th December 2021
"Hormonal changes such as mensuration, pregnancy, and menopause can cause changes in the female body where a healthy diet plays an important role."

The food choices you make every day may affect your health eventually in life. Choosing healthy food can prevent or manage various health problems that affect women. Also, it is important to note that women have different daily nutritional requirements than men.

Hormonal changes such as mensuration, pregnancy, and menopause can cause changes in the female body where a healthy diet plays an important role.

So, here are a few healthy eating and diet tips for women:

Iron-rich foods

The amount of blood present in your body depends on iron levels. Iron helps to form hemoglobin that carries oxygen in your blood.

Iron is essential for everyone, but the amount needed is different for women in every phase of life.

Because of loss of blood during menstruation, pregnancy, and delivery; women require the double amount of blood as men.

Low levels of iron may cause iron-deficiency anemia. Some of the food to get enough iron from your diet is red meat, green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits such as lemon and seafood.

Calcium

For healthy bones and teeth, we need to eat calcium-rich foods every day.

Calcium also helps to regulate the heart’s normal rhythm and normal functioning of the nervous system.

Also, calcium deficiency can lead to irritability, weakness, fragile bones, etc.

Some of the food to get more calcium consumption from your diet is dairy products –milk, yogurt, cheese, almonds, sesame seeds, fish, and oysters.

Vitamin D and magnesium-rich foods

For healthy absorption of calcium, you need to take vitamin D and magnesium along with calcium.

Without magnesium and vitamin D, the body is unable to metabolize and use calcium.

Some of the food to get more vitamin D and magnesium from your diet is fish, cod, milk, yogurt, and fortified foods, and also direct sunlight is important.

Water

Water supports health and promotes hydration without adding calories to the diet.

Sugary drinks including energy drinks, fruit drinks, 100% fruit juice, soft drinks, and flavored coffees have lots of sugar and little to no nutritional value.

It is easy to drink empty calories without realizing it, and this leads to weight gain.

When safe drinking water is not available, quenches your thirst with coffee, tea, unsweetened lower-fat milk, and previously boiled water.

Whole-grain foods

Whole-grain foods include whole-grain bread and crackers, brown or wild rice, quinoa, oatmeal, and hulled barley.

They are prepared using the entire grain. Whole-grain foods have fiber, protein, and B vitamins to help you stay healthy and full longer.

Choose whole-grain options instead of processed or refined grains like white bread and pasta.

Reasons why your skincare might not be working

2nd January 2022
"Have you ever wondered why you aren’t seeing results from your skin care regimen? Or why you’re breaking out all of a sudden?"

Have you ever wondered why you aren’t seeing results from your skin care regimen? Or why you’re breaking out all of a sudden? It might be because you’re making some skincare mistakes without even being aware of them.

Here are the skincare mistakes that might help you to fix them in the future:

Over Washing Your Face

Some people seem to hold the belief that over-cleansing their face will bring them faster results, or help with their acne, or speed up the healing of their skin.

Whatever the case might be, over-washing your face is never a good idea, regardless of the circumstances.

When you over-clean your face using harsh cleansers or face soap, you’re stripping the top layer of skin which has a protective function and which is crucial for maintaining skin health and a glowing complexion.

Not Knowing Your Skin Type

Another very common mistake people tend to make is using the wrong products for their skin because they don’t know which skin type their skin belongs to.

This mistake is so common because determining your correct skin type is not an easy task. There are a few skin types, but somehow all of them seem interchangeable.

If you have dry skin, try going for products that are labeled for dry skin and which declare to provide extra moisture on the packaging.

If you have sensitive and acne-prone skin, stay away from ingredients such as oils, alcohols, and fragrances.

These will irritate your skin and possibly cause you to break out, which is the last thing you’d want.

Your environment has changed

Many factors including climate, air conditioning, hard water, and central heating can have an impact on your skin.

You may want to consider more hydrating products in winter when cold air and wind can dry out your skin, and use a higher factor of SPF in summer when the sunlight is stronger.

Overdoing the DIY Products

Not all skin care products can be made at home using natural ingredients.

Just because a product is labeled natural, it doesn’t mean that it will help your skin.

The claim that natural ingredients help a certain group of people is true, but that group might not include you.

You’ll get yourself in a messy skin situation that could’ve been easily avoided.

Some of these products which are often suggested are so harsh that they might burn and irritate our skin, or even cause itchiness and an allergic reaction.

You Might Be Layering Products the Wrong Way

Even though you have sorted out a regimen with products that suit your skin type, layering them the wrong way can reduce the efficacy of the products.

It might also result in breakouts or inflammation. Therefore, it’s important to know the right order of applying skincare products.

For beginners, the lightest texture goes first followed by the heavy ones like face oil and moisturizer.
