Improve Your Riding Fitness

Wear The Right Gear

Having the right equipment for the situation makes all the difference.

If you can be warm, cool, ventilated, and dry, you're on to a winner!

If you have space in your top box, being able to switch out gloves is also beneficial.

All the better if you can find riding gear that is both waterproof and breathable! If not, make sure your waterproof gear is easily available so you can quickly put it on if the weather becomes bad.

There are many things you can do to make your motorcycle fit you better, and making your motorcycle more comfortable can improve your riding experience too. It doesn’t matter how good of a seat your motorcycle has, eventually there will be that one time it’s going to start to get a little bit uncomfortable or bother you.

Here are some effective ways to make your motorcycle seat more comfortable:

Change your seat

This is the most logical and obvious solution. But it can also be the most costly.

Changing your seat will give you a chance to make sure the seat is correct for your body type.

Take the time to research and make sure you are getting the seat that is best for you and your riding style.

Air Cell Cushion

An air cell cushion might be the most expensive one that you could buy, but they are very durable and will last you a long time.

These pads were inspired by the pads they use to make sure people don’t get bedsores in hospitals, so you can rest assured that they’ll be comfortable.

You can also customize how many air cells you want in this cushion.

There should be a small valve on the side that lets you decide how high you want to sit and how firm you want the seat.

Gel Pad

Another popular type of motorcycle pad you could get is a gel pad.

Unlike the air cell pads, these are filled with gel which will help to distribute your weight a little more evenly across the seat.

They’re normally thick, heavy, and made of fabric. However, it will offer you more comfort than the hard motorcycle seats.

Take Breaks

One easy way to ease the pain is to just take breaks now and then. Whenever you come to a stopping position, just stand up for a little bit.

If your motorcycle has back pegs, you could stand up on the back of those while you’re riding.

If you don’t feel comfortable standing up, you can try switching up your positions throughout the ride.

You can sit forward, left, right, or back to help distribute some of the pressure.

So, here are some off-road bike riding tips:

Relax and stay loose:

When learning to ride an off-road bike, one of the most typical mistakes novice riders make is tensing up.

Off-road surfaces are significantly more diverse than smooth and asphalt roads, causing the bike to wander about a lot more.

When riding off-road, the bike will inevitably move, and you must gain the courage to let it do so and let the suspension deal with the terrain rather than fighting it.

Stay flexible and relaxed, especially in your upper body, while gripping the bike with your legs rather than your hands.

You'll be able to bike better and for longer periods before becoming exhausted.

Take a stand:

Standing on the pegs can take a leap of faith at first because it may feel like you're losing control rather than gaining it.

But standing up will make things a lot simpler in a lot of instances.

Standing on the footpegs shifts the center of gravity from the saddle to a location between the wheel spindles, bringing you and the bike closer to the ground and making you and the bike more stable.

It will also allow the suspension to take the blows rather than your spine, and you will be able to see further ahead due to your elevated position.

Keep all the necessities with you:

When you're on the run, keep a little toolset with you. This will come in handy if anything goes wrong or unforeseen situations arise.

It's always a good idea to have a basic awareness of the various repair methods. When you make a pit stop, make sure to check your tires and fill up on gas.

Bent not straight:

If you keep your arms locked out and straight, you will lose control of the bike and will wind up absorbing all of the jolts and bumps directly into your body, which is not healthy.

Bend your arms slightly to add a few additional inches of suspension travel while keeping your body relatively static as the bike travels, and raise your elbows for improved leverage and control in the turns.

Moving your bum back and bending a little at the hip will bring your chest closer to the bars, making turning simpler.
